We just booked a package through AAA today for 8 nights at FW. I saw someone on ebay selling a lanyard and a pin that was given to them by AAA. Does AAA send each family one of these? I completely forgot to ask about any perks that I would receive. Has anyone booked with them recently?

I just did. I booked the premium package through them and received the documents.

Included was AAA Diamond parking, coupons for special viewing areas, some discount coupons, admission to Disney's story time, and a couple of luggage tags.

No mention of pins or lanyards.

That's what I got for our trip in Dec. 2006. No pins or lanyards!

We just received our travel documents. We received:

One mini golf voucher per room
One Fifteen Dollar Planet Hollywood Voucher
One 90 minutes for the price of 60 minutes boat rental
One per person entrance to Disney's Storytime
One per person Disney luggage tags
One Diamond parking pass
One AAA discount card

Has anyone compared the price of the AAA packages vs. doing it yourself? I usually end up booking room, flights, etc., by myself separately because it was cheaper, but it's been about 5 years since we've been to WDW so I'm feeling a bit out of the loop, lol!!

We didn't purchase flights, but the AAA rate with package was the same as when I called Disney myself for the rates. We just got the extra freebies with AAA and less hassle.

We have used AAA for all of our Disney World trips. We've gotten pins, lanyards, Disney Gift Cards, tote bags, picture frames, luggage tags, keychains, and magnets. So there's no telling what you will get!

We got a pin/lanyard when we booked through AAA in 2003. We have booked our Dec 2007 trip through AAA as well, but no pins/lanyards were mentioned.

Well, if you book it all yourself AND get an AAA room rate, the numbers should be the same. But IMO, the major bonus of booking a package with AAA is that you can add the dining plan and save quite a bit on food. If you book a package w/ Disney or anyone else, you can't get the AAA rate and DDP.

ETA: Forgot to answer the OP's question! We've booked packages through AAA twice and didn't receive pins or lanyards. Sounds like it might have been one of those AAA Disney Month promos, like the $25 Disney gift cards they offered this past January.

I priced the package on the website and then called AAA. They quoted me about $300 less for the premium package, which amounts to an approximate 10% discount on the rooms. I was also told it was "disney week" and received an additional discount.

OK, silly question, but..."Disney Week" at AAA and they're giving additional discounts this week or "Disney Week" the week you're going there?

I'm not sure :) It did sound like it was Disney week at AAA and I was getting add'l discounts.
