DOES A AAA PARKING PASS ENTITLE ONE TO FREE PARKING OR DO YOU PAY FOR PARKING AND USE THE PASS FOR A PREFERRED PARKING SPACE? :earsgirl:

You get to park in the preferred parking lot, but you still have to pay for parking costs to get in. On really peak times, Disney won't honor the AAA parking pass. We usually have the AAA pass, and we really like parking close enough to just walk to the entrance.

Thanks For The Info. We Are Going May 11-21. I Noticed These Passes Are Being Auctioned On Ebay

Can you clarify - I understood you could park for free if you are staying on the grounds. I heard you can get the pass free from AAA. Is this true? If not, how much does it cost you?

I tried using these parking passes twice (MK and MGM) and both times, the lot attendants had no idea what it was. Granted, this was a few years back and maybe they have improved on this. If you are staying OP, you get free parking. We usually arrive right before the parks open and walk right in anyways.

I wouldn't pay much for these on eBay, you might be disappointed.

If you stay on property you can park for free. The AAA pass allows you to park closer to the entrance. I have never used mine. It comes to you free from AAA if they book a package for you.

We had friends visit mid March. They bought WDW and USO park tickets at their local AAA office. They only bought tickets.
Without asking, they were given the AAA Diamond parking pass that is good for all of this year. (But has some blackout listed.)
They were told it was a "special" AAA had going.
Had it been January they bought their tickets I would not have been surprised, since January was AAA Disney Month. But they bought their tickets late February or early March.
So I guess the AAA Diamond pass is not ALWAYS from buying WDW AAA packages.

It was not until we were with them and used the AAA parking at Epcot that I noticed the AAA parking also is for DDE use. (Painted letters right on the black top.)
It was odd that sometimes the AAA Diamond pass did not mean a thing to CMs and they would not honor it. And sometimes the CMs didn't care if we had the Diamond pass to show or not.
Typical Disney inconsistency I guess.

We use it every time we go and just love them. Epcot and AK let you park by the handicap close to the entrance. MGM has AAA parking on the ends of the rows right next to the tram stops. I have used it for the past 10 years without a problem or question.

Are you saying that, if you have the DDE card, you can park in the Diamond Parking lot?

The AAA diamond area at Epcot also includes DDE parking.
There is parking for RVs. The parking spaces behind the front row RV parking are also marked for DDE. :cool1:

We purchased Universal season passes from AAA south and a few weeks later I called back and asked if we could have a parking pass and he said sure and mailed it right out to me. So I guess it just depends on the AAA agent. BTW I wouldn't buy one on ebay. Don't get me wrong, we loved parking close but IMHO it's not worth $20.

Also, When we arrived at AK at 11:00am The parking attendant said sorry the AAA lot is full. I told DH to go up there anyway ( DH hates when I do stuff like that, he thinks we're gonna get hauled away by the Disney police :teeth: ) and sure enough there were plenty of spots. :wave2:

At MGM the person directing traffic told us to park in the wrong lane. As we were walking away a CM jumps off the tram, yelling at us. When we explained she ( the other attendant) asked us to park there. He starts yelling at her. Sometimes those parking attendants are not all on the same page.

OMG, we must be married to the same guy! :rotfl:

I've always found the attendants at Epcot most cantankerous about using the Diamond Pass. Usually no one's even at AK when we go to park there. Sometimes at MGM, we get waved forward into what is like the front lot. MK is still a haul, even from the Diamond lot, we use Disney transportation ALWAYS to go to MK.

Anyway, we get a Diamond pass whenever we buy passes through AAA, never a package.

Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase Florida resident APs at any AAA in Florida?

Actually, for Epcot, you never see a parking lot CM. After the toll booth, you stay on the far left and follow the green(?) line which takes you to the handlicap parking which is on the far left of the epcot entrance. The CMs are parking the cars in the far right parking lot.
