AAA package problem!

i booked my disney visa package thru AAA BECAUSE the AAA agent told me that i would get the AAA diamond card which would include preferred parking, refreshments at the VIP loung in MK and some other perks.

well, i got my travel doc's and no Diamond card. called her, she contacted disney, they said i can't have it because it 's not a "AAA" pkg.! she apologized and said that she was told it did include all this initially.

anyone know the specifics on these AAA perks? like, what exactly are the refreshments, etc

i hate losing out on a freebie!!!

I don't know for sure, but someone on one of these boards said it was merely a can of pop. I guess there is a lounge at Magic Kingdom (only, not the other parks) that has this. We have bought tickets from AAA, but never packages, so we haven't actually been to this spot.

we bought our tickets last year from AAA, not a package and got the diamond parking pass. Thats all it was, just a parking pass. It was a great parking place, but if it was good for any more perks, we didn't know about them.

I dont think Disney has anything to do with this, they have them at every AAA office.

It would entitle you to discounts - 10% - 20%. For example 10% discount on purchases at World of Disney at Downtown Marketplace, Fulton's Crabhouse, Portobello Yacht Club, Planet Hollywood, Wolf Gang Puck Rainforet Cafe and a few more. 20% off dinner at Traders Steak & Seafood at Best Western Lake Buena Vista Resort Hotel and b,l&d at WDW Swan & Dolphin - excludes beverage and Shula's Steak House. 15% discount on mini golf, watermice rental at WDW Resort Marinas. Of course there are restrictions - not applicable to ticket media, GC, videos,Disney Dollars, food items, tobacco, sundries...

Sorry to hear that your agent messed up! It is hard to lose out on something like that.

The diamond parking pass is nice, it gives closer parking. We were able to get one just buy purchasing our tickets through AAA. I have never been to the "lounge", but I had heard it was a place in MK just to have a free soft drink. No biggie there.
I have not heard of being offered ANY discounts on anything as far as purchases. (not saying it isnt, but it was not presented as a perk)

You might try talking to your agent again, because as Gail said, I'm pretty sure it is done through AAA not Disney. And possibly even the local office. (We got a diamond pass with our 4 day hoppers, which isn't supposed to happen...)

I just rec'd my AAA Horizons newsletter the other day and it clearly stated that if booked through AAA your package would include a discount card, Diamond Parking Pass and access to the VIP lounge at MK (I think it was MK). At the lounge it said you are limited to 1 soda. I would try and find the Horizons mag and bring it to her.

My friend booked through AAA in May for her family. She wanted me to go with her and see if it was a good deal and so forth. I soon found out that her AAA agent was useless for Disney knowlege and bargains. Donna thought they gave her mears transportation and when I showed her that she actually paid $29 per person she was pretty upset at how she got ripped off. I asked the lady since I was a member of AAA could I get into the lounge and she said NO I needed a pass which comes from their home office when the package comes in. SOOOOOOOO I would call and speak to the manager at your AAA to help get to the bottom of this if you want the can of soda... The lounge is near tomorrowland from what I have read. Good luck.... and please CHECK the prices of booking things yourself VS AAA packages. I know that we are staying for 9 days onsite for what they paid for a 5 day package..

I have had plenty of problems booking trips through AAA. An AAA package includes room and tickets. the diamond lot parking should be included. Also with regard to the free soda: It is a can of soda that you get in MK over by Buzz Lightyear. Only one can per person for the entire package. It is very hard to find the building that you get the soda. Also you should get another card that entitles you to little perks like 10% of some dining locations and I believe percentage of sale at the Disney Store at the Marketplace. I would contact the agent's supervisor and explain the problem. also if you have a brochure from AAA on the Disney vacations (the big one that is 8 1/2 by 11) it should state what you would get if you book a package deal. I also know that AAA varies from state to state.

i usually do book my own pkgs. but the price quoted for the disney visa promotion was the same as that quoted by AAA and i THOUGHT i would get a couple extra perks (AAA diamond card).

at least now i know it's just a can of pop and maybe a 10% discount.

it is truly hard to find a travel agent that is knowledgeable about disney. that's why i usually do it myself. the aaa agent couldn't even specifically tell me what perks were included with the diamond card and they are the ones that issue it!

i'm still going to try to get it though, just because! thanks for your replys.

I found an old brochure from AAA. It states you receive the following when you book a package from AAA:
1. AAA Vacations Diamond Card which gives you discounts at various restaurants, miniature golf, various stores, and various tours.
2. Preferred Parking card - at all four parks
3. AAA Vip lounge - one free soda per person per package deal.

I also called my AAA agent and asked her if she would be able to get me a diamond card (I did not book a disney vacation). She said no you can only get it if you book a vacation to Disney with AAA.

I would call back and ask for your TA,s superviser and read them what is included in your package!! And if that doesn't work keep going up the chain of command till you get your items!!!

Just came back and we had the pass and never used it. Riding the little parking trams was so easy and fun we didn't even care about it. We were let off right next to our car every time.

Sorry... you also get all the discounts at the resturants and shopping just by showing your AAA card. We didn't have any package. We got the pass just buying our park hopper passes through them.
