Does the AAA ever have any discount codes for their premium plan? Like a code or something online that isn't necessarily from them?

It would just be me (I'm 62, if that matters) and I want the Premium AAA because they will tow my vehicle 100 miles (which would more than get it back to my DD's from the lake, if need be) and during the 7 months I'm up there, the places available to call for a car that won't start; changing a flat; etc., only accept AAA.. (Up there is more where I would need it than down here at DD's for the 5 winter months..)

Thanks for any info you may have..:)

Hi C.Ann,
I have never seen a code for AAA.
Sure would be nice to find one if they exsist.

I know it's a long shot, but then again, I never dreamed in a million years that I could get 2 years of Reader's Digest for $6 with a code someone posted here on the BB the other day!! Never, ever saw any offer where the RD was that cheap..:thumbsup2

I thought maybe - just maybe - with Christmas coming, there might be a code out there for AAA..:santa:

No codes for AAA Carolinas. I worked there, never had any codes. Would you be willing to look into the AARP roadside assistance? It's a much cheaper and better coverages. Most tow agencies will be reimbursed the amount that towing is for from AARP, then you cover any other costs. They also give you legal defense up to 1,000 dollars and still do the up to 100 dollars towing. We bought my grandmother the plan when she moved out into the country. Shes locked her keys out about 3 times and it took them 30 minutes to get there. When I locked my keys out with AAA it took them 2 hours. Don't get me wrong, but I like AAA but AARP is a better option for the older crowd, no offense. Here is the link for AARP: http://www.aarproadside.com/aarp/forwardTo.do?pageName=compare_plans

My mom and i have aaa and there is no codes that i know of. They are handy though never used them for towing but have used them to get discounts at resturants and hotels.

I know you said they only take AAA, but have you tried AARP? We use to have AAA until we found that AARP offers roadside service at much, much less than AAA and they use the same towing service.

This might not help you, but I was able to get AAA Carolinas with a Groupon. I do most of my driving in a small town so I just got the basic for $29, but I think it offered premium at a discount as well. You did have to be a new customer. Maybe that would be something to keep an eye out for in the future.

Because of the remoteness of my place at the lake (in terms of where the service people would have to come from) there are only a couple of very small towns close by and they only accept AAA..

I know that someone mentioned reimbursement from AARP (if they would come anyhow), but I don't use credit cards, my income (pension) is once a month, and if for some reason I got really low on funds at the end of the month and something happened, I would hate to have to take the money out of my savings.. I try to never, ever touch that as it's too hard to replace with my pension being my only source of monthly income..

Back in 2006, I had the AAA Premium Plan and my car had to be towed around 60 miles or so (maybe more - I can't remember the exact number now)to the dealership and the local people who came with the flat bed were very fast, very efficient, very careful - but only took AAA.. I wouldn't even want to THINK about how much it would cost to have the car towed there again - or 40+ miles to my DD's house..

I don't need it right now (as in "soon" - not really until next April when I head back to the lake), so I'll keep an eye on the AAA site and see if they offer any specials to try to entice people into purchasing the plan as a Christmas gift for others..:santa: I can always "hope"..;)

Thanks for the suggestion though..:goodvibes

Have you called a local AAA office directly? If not I would try that and see if they have any offers.

No - I haven't.. Good idea! I'll put that on my "list of things to do" on Monday because I have several other calls I need to make as well.. I really don't like talking on the phone, so I might as well get all my calls done at once..

Thanks!

Good Luck. Hope you find it. We have never had AAA so I am of no help.

If I see something, I promise to pass it on!

we get AAA coupons in the envelope that comes in the mail every month or so. (Don't know if that is a regional thing?)

Yup, they (AAA Carolinas) had a code that I used 2 months ago. I did a google search and found one and it worked. I saved $42 or so off the price of the premium membership for 2 cars. I think it was NC11, but not sure of that and again, it was for NC.
Kind of irritated me. I found the code and they would not let me use it, for new members only. Fine. The old was in my husband's name, this one is in mine (his was due to expire that month anyway).

AARP sounds like a good deal, but I refuse to deal with AARP. Political thing :rolleyes1.

I was actually under the impression that you could not get premium unless you had AAA already or something like that.
We do have the premium (we had basic years ago and the tow was over 100 miles, we paid $$$$ and learned ;)) and would not be without it now.

Two weeks ago my dh broke down on the parkway ramp, he had to pay 135. on cc as the AAA tow that came, (under contract with AAA) is not able to technically go on the parkway ramp...anyway, he told us to just send in receipt for the 100% reimbursement. I was thankful dh had cc on him (and a cell for that matter :rotfl:) and I called AAA, needless to say they said to send in receipt and literally in 3 days we had a check for 100% payback! That was nice and SUPER fast!!

I think the Gifting of AAA is wonderful and would not be surprised to see some type of offer or discount....no harm in asking!
Good Luck and safe driving!!:wizard:

FYI for others (I know OP said she wanted AAA specifically). You can get roadside assistance added to your car insurance policy for next to nothing. I think I paid $8 for the year.

Yes - try googling AAA and your area. I too saved about the same amount with AAA Carolinas. My membership had expired about 2 months prior so was able to use the code.

My late mother had problems with AARP - nothing to do with roadside service - but other things that were supposed to be covered and weren't, so that's yet another reason they would not by my first choice..

I will try that.. If I put in the name of my local AAA, all I get is links to their web site - so what do I want to google? "XYZ AAA Discount codes"? Or is there a better way to word it - to cut down on all of the links that google tosses out?

Thanks again..:)

I was exactly the same way! I refused to get involved because of their political slant, but when I got my AAA bill one year the same day I got yet another offer from AARP I drank the Kool-aid and haven't looked back. My kids give me a hard time because I went back on my stance, but like the cheapskate that I am, I let my pocketbook over-ride my politics. I wish I was stronger instead of cheaper!!
