Hi all,
I was curious what your thoughts were on the AAA membership. I have never been to USO/IOA and was wondering if the amount you would save with a AAA membership while at the parks is worth the cost of the membership? Thank you!!:hyper:

depends what you'll be spending in the parks for the discount, suggest going with the base membership for 1 person

the real value in AAA membership is the towing/locking out services:thumbsup2

Agreed, we used our AAA card a fair bit at US/IoA, probably saved...$50? But I also use it through the year for other hotel discounts (most chains you can get 10%, sometimes better) AND this year I got two jump-starts (dang kids leaving the doors open/lights on!) and a tow out of a snowbank. I also get their maps and triptiks when we travel. (The tour books are pretty lame IMO, but a map's a map.) I wouldn't buy it just for that discount, but overall for travel services and perks, I get a lot of value out of it in a year.

If you have a souvenier/restaurant budget, think, 10% or a little less, as we never remember to show it every time, and the carts usually don't accept it--stores and actual restaurants only. I believe it's the same discount you get with the AP, so if you have one of those, AAA doesn't add anything.

thank you so much. I think I will skip it. I am so glad i asked. You guys are great!!

We saved quite a bit last time..We used it for alot of restaurants and souveniers. But we were there for over 5 days and will be there a week this time

We just bought our AAA membership yesterday. It is a basic membership and it was only $55. We will be spending a week there, and with 5 kids, who have a LOT of shopping planned and also a lot eating going on I'm sure it will be worth it's money! :lmao:

We have a AAA membership and an AP but the important thing is REMEMBER TO SHOW THE CARD. We keep forgetting about the discount when we shop or eat. I am going to try and remember this coming trip.

I mainly signed up for AAA for the roadside assistance/towing, etc.

DH and I were paying $3 a month EACH to our cell phone carrier for roadside assistance that didn't have good service and barely covered the cost of anything. So we pay about the same thing for AAA for a much better service.

Forgot to add that I carried it in my lanyard next to my money and credit cards so I remembered to show it..Dh also did the same with his.

AAA does help and love the savings but my basic card went from $55 a year to $88 a year
So guess we will go without it this year

Are you driving to Florida? It might bring a little peace of mind to have it then...

$88 is a a lot if just using for UA/IOA discount. It all depends on how you are going to use it. You get the discounts in the stores and restaurants including Citywalk. I also used it to save on hotel stays which could sometimes save 20-25 a night. I would go to their website. You get discounts on items you may not consider. I saved 40% on eyeglasses. I agree with the piece of mind while driving especially on I-95. The towing service comes in handy.

Did just call and they did nock off $23 which now makes my membership $65
Now just have to come up with it cause every dime we have is tied up for our vacation but agree that having it is peace of mind since we will be making a 13 hour drive to get to RPR

Just joined AAA for $69 plus a free membership for another family member. Used the discounts for the Disney campgrounds and the Universal Hotel for our trip in August. So far it has payed for itself double and plan to save more in the parks on food and what ever else we can. Also, it's nice for that peace of mind since we will be driving down.

Hello everyone,

What restaurants take AAA/CAA? Last time we visited most everyone at Citywalk said "sorry no AAA". I can't seem to find a list of restaurants at US, IOA or Citywalk that take it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. You guys are the best!!!!!

The restaurants in City Walk were hit or miss for the AAA discount. Can't remember which ones gave it or didn't.

Most of the places in the theme parks gave the discount. As someone else mentioned, not the carts.

We got the discount on butterbeer we purchased in The Three Broomsticks and the Hogs Head Inn, but not at the cart.

We will be going to T-Rex during the Disney portion of our upcoming trip, and I believe they give a 10% discount. We get a newsletter that shows some of the discounts and I bet if you go to the AAA website, you can get a list of places offering a discount.

We originally booked our room at the Hard Rock (3 nights) through Travelocity, but when I called Universal direct, and asked if they had a AAA room discount, we had to go from a standard view to garden view room to use the discount but we saved $100.

Thanks for replying so quickly. I will check AAA's website to see if the restaurants are listed.

That's strange cause when I was there last year and years past they always gave me the discount using my AAA card and the only places that didn't except it was bubba gumps and the Hard Rock Cafe and the hotel restaurants don't except the aaa card

I wonder if the Hard Rock changed its policy. I used it there before but don't remember if it was last summer or year before.
