AAA Made an Error!

Okay, I just spoke to the agent. He said he got my email and was discussing it with his manager. He said that he will stand by his words but he doesn't have time to ship it out to me now.

He said that if I go to Disney, buy the three day pass, he will reimburse me out of his pocket.

That was obviously unacceptable to me. I told him I'd already spent quite a bit of money on this trip and I didn't have more to put out, and that I didn't want to have to wait in one more line than I already was going to have to.

I didn't understand why they couldn't just ship me a voucher or three day park hopper Fed Ex overnight. He said that Disney wouldn't have time to do that, something about printing the tickets. I said that I would be willing to pick them up in a local AAA office but that I was concerned and wanted it in my hand before I left on the trip.

He made sure that I knew whatever was happening was coming out of his commission. He kept mentioning calling and putting it on his credit card

Either AAA is the worst company in the world, making an employee pay for a mistake out of their pocket, or he's not being truthful. I don't even thing that it is legal for them to make him pay....

& pixel....have you looked at Jedi Training for your 10 y/o? If not let me know & I'll post a link....very very cool for the 6 y/o - 13 y/o set.

I saw something about it somewhere. :D You know who I really think would love it? My 20 year old. :rotfl2: When he was 8, I'd take him to the grocery store and finding him Jedi fighting the cereal boxes. He still does it. :D He's 20 and he still wants to be batman when he grows up. :confused3

My 10 year old is more the cerebral, intellectual type. He'd have far more fun at Disney if he could see the inner workings and the computer programmers. :)

Sorry if I sound hard on you, but I think it sounds like your agent is trying to do right by you. I'm sure he didn't mean to misinform you; he just failed to read the fine print about EE only being for 3-days or longer PHs. (I've read the AAA brouchure, and it is confusing since the caviat for EE is indicated at the same place where it states that the Turtle Talk priority seating is good for 2-day or longer parkhoppers) Unfortunately, not all AAA travel agents are that up on DL. AAA just books through Disney travel. They can't just give you a parkhopper pass themselves; it has to come through Disney.
I would go for the 3 day parkhopper and be grateful that you have a little extra time in the park. Depending upon when you are arriving or departing, you could add an evening or morning in DL at no extra charge. That's a good thing! If you have an extra evening you will have one evening for fireworks, a separate one for fantasmic, and a third for the ELP.

A COUPLE OF WARNINGS! If you do take your agent up on his offer to reimburse you for the parkhoppers, It probaby wouldn't hurt to get it in writing. ALSO, you will probably need to get the upgrade at the WDTC place in DTD. There was no line the only time I went there. Also, I don't think EE comes with the parkhoppers sold at the ticket booths, and I don't think they can do the upgrade anyway. To be on the safe side, have your agent contact WDTC to verify how and where you will get the upgrade.

Sorry you've been so frustrated and can soon focus on the fact that you will be in DL very soon.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what WDTC and DTD mean. Walt Disney Travel Company?

And, that is exactly what he suggested I do. Go to Disney in the morning and upgrade. My fear is I'll follow his advice and get shorted on the day. That's why I wanted tickets in my hand as we left.

I don't want to buy them myself without any any assurances from AAA that they'll be covered. (In fact, I don't want to do it myself at all.) This guy's personal promise isn't good enough - even in writing. How do I know he won't just disappear?

I think maybe I need to talk to his supervisor.

The 3+ day hoppers at the ticket gates DO have EE on them. So no worries there.

However, I would insist on talking to a supervisor. Seems like he is trying to keep his mistakes unknown by offering to pay for it himself. AAA, not the agent, is responsible here. Obviously, the poor man has little to no training on how to book a Disney vacation. And as far as I know ALL AAA Travel offices have parkhoppers in their office, so don't let him tell you he can't upgrade you.

Next time, forget AAA and come to the Dis boards where you will learn how to book your own vacation and save yourself a lot of money and headhache!

The guy hasn't called me yet. I guess I'll have to call him.

I told him I wanted something within walking distance or a private shuttle, quiet, with a nice pool. Looking on that map, I'm not sure it's walking distance.

The pool looks nice and he said we could see the fireworks from it. We thought our first, non-Disney night we could sit outside by the pool, relax, and have a drink and watch the fireworks.

20-30 minutes from parking to arrival at the gate? Wow.

We have never had it take that long from parking to the gate, but we always get there when the garage opens, so that helps. But no, if it is past I-5... It is definitely NOT walkable! We stayed at the Hojos, and after a few days, even that want walkable for me!:lmao: But we did have a really nice view of the fireworks from our pool.

As I was on the phone, on hold waiting to talk to a customer service representative, he called me back.

He said that he was working to resolve it with his Disney representative. He was going to find a way to either ship them to me overnight, or have them waiting at the desk at my hotel. He said he had to leave for a doctor's appointment and would not be back in touch with me today, but would tomorrow.

I told him my concern was that if something went wrong, and they weren't waiting for me at my hotel, I would have no recourse. He said he understood that and would try and get me my tickets in my hand. I asked him about electronic tickets and he said that he was waiting to find out. I might have imagined it, but he seemed a bit impatient to get off the phone at that point.

He said he'd call me tomorrow.

Do I wait or do I call a supervisor?

Oh, and you better believe that I'll come here FIRST next time!

Pixel...if DangerMouse or HydroGuy make a comment or have info, you can hang your hat on it.

If you get to San Diego w/o your hoppers....I'd call his boss's boss (might want to add some minutes on your cell phone).

Also, as a poster said upthread, i get the feeling he's trying to resolve this...if he wasn't, he never would have called you back. (imo)

I have bought thru AAA a couple of times with no problems, but after discovering the DIS, it was obvious to me that even Disney certified agents knew NO WHERE NEAR AS MUCH as most folks on the Dis (both for DLR & for WDW).

I would have let him leave a message and waited for the supervisor. This was his error and they need to fix it for you. I'm sorry you are getting the run-around. That hotel is definitely NOT in walking distance and altho it might be nice I wouldn't stay there because as others have said, you might want that afternoon pool break, depending on how hot it is. Anyway, if I were you I would call back, I would not wait for him to call me tomorrow. I'm sure he was impatient to get you off the phone but his behavior is still rude and uncalled for. (IMO) Also, it sounds like he wants to cover himself and is trying to pay you back so no one else finds out about his error. Which means he's either really worried because no one trained him well or he makes many errors like this and he is afraid of getting into trouble. Either way, someone needs to help him out. I would call for sure. Good luck.

If it were me, I would call and ask for his supervisor right away. I don't think you want to leave this up to a guy who may mean well but obviously doesn't know how things work. There is NO reason why you shouldn't be able to pick up park hoppers at your local AAA tomorrow morning. There is no reason to sit there and worry yourself sick over this matter, pick up the phone and reesolve it right now and you'll sleep A LOT better tonight.:)

I called to ask for a supervisor, and as soon as I said my name, the woman hung up on me!

OH NO SHE DIDN'T! Would you like me to care of this for you? I've been known to have a wicked tongue when need be.:thumbsup2

I agree, pick up the phone and call a supervisor, your agent might make it worse trying to fix his mistake.
It's your vacation that will start off on a bad foot, not his.
Also, I'm sure you'll sleep a lot better tonight knowing it's handled rather than hoping he calls you back tomorrow.

By the way, what are your dates again? I'll do some diggin' for you...

I am actually flying into San Diego on the 19th. We have a car, and the wedding we are attending is the 21st. Rehearsal dinner is the 20th. We thought we'd do the Zoo in the 22nd and then go to Disneyland the 23rd.

My dates for the hotel were:

the 23rd to check in.
the 24th and 25th in Disney
check out the 26th, flight back home leaves at about 1:00 from Ontario.

I called the auto part of AAA and had them transfer me to a travel agent. This guy didn't hang up on me, and I could practically hear his jaw hit the floor when I told him that my agent was planning to make up his error out of his pocket. He immediately transfered me to her supervisor. I left a message.

OK, just did some research on expedia.com for you. This is what is available

Your dates - 2 nights 7/23 & 7/24

2 room, 2 bath family suite - $158 per night

Hope one of thosw works out for you for less than the AAA package. Then you can cancel if it does and not have to deal with them anymore.

OK, I went by the dates in your original post. Using 7/23-7/26, a lot more is sold out but this is what is available:

2 room family suite - $112 per night
2 room, 2 bath family suite - $141 per night

Still lots of good choices with your new dates!

Yes, those are the dates. At this point, I can't be flexible either.

Wow, that sounds good. The two room family suite is a few dollars cheaper than what I paid for the rooms at the Menage and the 2 Queens, which is what we are getting now, is a lot cheaper. With four people, we could use the space.[/quote]

I hope the supervisor calls me back soon. I need to find out what to do. They already took my money and I don't think I can book another vacation on the same card.

Does this hotel have penalities for making a reservation and not showing up?
