Oh my gosh. I can't believe you just posted this. I was just thinking that I needed to post a question on where I might find a website to calculate fuel costs for our trip! Thank you , thank you , thank you.

Unfortunately, it says our fuel costs will only be $199 round trip from Chicago to Orlando. I was hoping it would be more to convince DH we needed to fly.

Glad to help! How soon are you leaving? You might be able to tell DH current estimates are $200 in gas but you know the price will continue to increase in the summer months. Besides, how much is your time worth?

Don't forget to look at driving time vs. flying time. That might help convince him. Plus, food and hotel if doing it in 2 days drive. If doing it in one drive, what about recuperating from driving hours and hours etc. Traffic aggravations. Using more gas with the traffic, the A/C, etc. Multiply by 2, for down and back. Then add and extra "tank" to the total $$ amount.
Check prices for flying, then you can compare flying $$ vs driving $$. Don't forget to figure in "time savings" to the flying.

Yes there is something to be said for flying but there is always the other side of flying, say the aggravation at the airport..To me thats enough to make me drive, which we are.. we just have to decide which vehicle as my car gets better gas mileage than my daughters vehicle..You have the weigh the costs versus everything else including your time off for vacation.. The AAA fuel cost calculator is a very helpful tool...Good luck
