Per year.
Plus,
AAA gets discounts on hotels, car rentals, Amtrak, etc... They also give you great road maps and travel guides for free -- as many as you like for just about any location. I'm always shocked at how my local AAA office practically buries me in travel guides and maps when I ask for information.
Also, if you are traveling to DisneyWorld by car, ask AAA for a triptik -- they'll print out a booklet with maps, info on the areas you'll be traveling through, travel distances & times, and emergency information. Also, AAA offers free roadside assistance like short-distance tows and locksmithing (ever lock your keys in your car?)
Also, if you join and they offer it in your state, check into AAA's insurance rates. I just changed our car policies and homeowners and saved over $500 per year over what we'd been paying with State Farm.
I hadn't had a AAA membership for several years and just got a new membership for a recent trip to
DisneyLand. That one membership has paid for itself several times over.
