AAA discounts?

Hi everyone! My GF and I will be taking our first trip to US late August and during my excitement to learn all about the place, I found a website that says AAA discounts are accepted throughout the park. I'm not sure how old this site's article is, so I figured I would ask the pros.

Does anyone know what AAA members can get in the park? If anything, do they have to be Florida AAA members or will any location do?

Until about 2 years ago you could get discounts throughout the parks and Citywalk for food and merchandise by just showing your AAA card.

That has changed now. If your purchase your Universal tickets from AAA you are given a paper in addition to your tickets you purchase from AAA. That paper has to be shown along with your AAA card to get discounts on merchandise. You have to spend at least $ 50.00 to start getting discounts. I Believe it was $ 50.00 to get 10% and at $ 75.00 you get 15%.

You do not get discounts in either of the Potter parks with AAA anymore.

If you want to purchase Potter items with your AAA card look at the big Universal store in Citywalk or either of the large Universal stores at the entrance to both parks. You will get the discount there with your AAA card and that paper from AAA.

What I have done in the past is have family decide on what they want and purchase the items at one of the big stores so I can get the bigger discount.

There are no discounts on AAA at the Potter restaurants.

You still get discounts of 10% on food at restaurants in the parks and Citywalk. Just tell them you have AAA. Some restaurants are participating some not. Does not hurt to ask.

A AAA card specific to Florida is not necessary. Any AAA card from anywhere in US will work.

If you are a resident of Florida there are discounts on AP's and tickets through AAA and Universal.

Have you thought about a Annual Pass? Depending on your length of stay it might be a good option to cost out a AP. With that you will get discounts on food and merchandise anywhere in parks and Citywalk with the exception of some of the food carts as well as discounts at onsite resorts.

Hope this helps pixiedust:
