Hello,
I was looking inot a AAA discount for our October dates. How do I find out which resorts are available? that way I know if it's worth buying or no for the Disney discount. DH works for a car dealer so we don't really need AAA otherwise. I want to book directly through Disney. If there is a discount for one of the hotels I want then I'm going to buy a membership today.
Thanks in advance.

Just call Disney reservations and ask for the resort your interested in to see if they have AAA rates available there.

Are there any advantages to book a room only AAA rate directly through Disney or AAA?

I know if you book through AAA they have some little extras (i.e. viewing areas, discount card), but are they only for packages?

In my mind, the big advantage is that if you book a room-only reservation with AAA discount through Disney, you still control your reservation. I like being able to make changes, requests, etc. without going through AAA. This year, I had a AAA discount for my room at the WL, but I simply called CRO to change it when annual pass discounts came out.

The discount amount is the same for room-only through AAA or Disney. I know AAA used to offer a parking pass (i.e. not a discount but you parked in a preferred location), but they gave that to me when I bought a ticket despite not making a reservation through them. I've never heard of any sort of discount card or preferred seating through AAA -- so hopefully someone else can clarify that for you.

As to the OP's question, I've never been asked to provide proof of AAA membership when booking, only when I arrive at the resort. So, you should be able to call and see what's available before you go out and buy the membership.

I went on-line with Disney to see about PORS for 11-14 to 11-17. Rates were $165/night with no discount or codes yet. I went to www.aaa.com and put in the same dates and same hotel. I got $140.25/night so I booked it. That is a great rate so far and if no codes are available, I will stick with that one. So the rates were not the same with Disney.

I booked directly through Disney and was able to get a AAA discount on our room at CR. I also inquired about POFQ and WL. Both of those resorts also had AAA discounts available. We will be there Nov. 21st. I was surprised they'd still have discounted rooms available since that will be the weekend before Thanksgiving, but I was sure happy they did! BTW--I just booked last Thursday.:goodvibes

AAA gives you a 15% discount on moderates. If you had called disney, they would have given you the $140.25 rate after verifying you were a AAA member.

Do you know what the % discount is on a value resort? I haven't been able to get it on my reservation, but since we're going over New Years (12/30-1/3,) is it because it's such a high occupancy period and the rate isn't offered or is all sold out?

Thanks in advance to anyone who could help -- seemed a better fit to put my question here than start a new thread. :)

I don't think there are any disocunts at all during holiday season -- including AAA -- and 12/30 and 12/31 are holiday season.

I'm not sure if they can apply the discount to certain days of the trip or if you have to do two reservations to get the discount on the portion starting 1/1 (which is historically the start of value season and will be substantially cheaper in addition to possibly having a discount). The rates will reflect the change in seasons even if all the days are under one reservation, but my guess is that you can't apply a discount that way.

Ok -- that's not surprising to me. Thanks Ally.

We do have a large difference in rate already ($129 for the first two nights vs $84 or $89 -- I don't remember -- for the other two, before extra person charges.) Honestly, I was ok with those prices, as we're four adults and I only have to pay my quarter... a bit over $100 for four nights at Disney is reasonable in my book. :) That said, it's *always* better if you can do it cheaper... so I'll continue to keep an eye out for any discounts that may pop up.

Followup question: If I were to book two reservations (12/30-1/1 and 1/1-3,) in the interest of getting a discount on half of the stay, would we "probably but not definitely" be able to stay in the same room (with checking in and out at the front desk,) or will they always make you move?

Thank you again!

Carrie
