I just called and AAA discount is available for the dates I need. Do I need to take the card to get the discount? And if the card is not in my name? The trip is a gift from my parents and they will not be going. Thanks

I would think that the card would need to be in your name.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge will let you know

The AAA member who is listed on the card is supposed to be in the room. You'll need a membership card with your name on it since you will most likely be asked to show it at check-in along with IDs. If you're not the member on the card, you might have to pay the difference between the discount and rack rate.

The discounts are one of the perks of being a AAA member. If you're going to use a discount, you really need to spring for the membership fee. Regional fees vary, but it's well worth the cost IMO.

They will ask to see the card at check in. The card must match the name of one of the people staying in the room. Since your parents will not be staying with you then you cannot use the discount.

That happened to me yesterday we are doing a last minute trip 3/2-3/7 and the CM quoted me 173.00 for POfQ a minute later she said she found a discount for room only 124.95!!!The reg rate is 185 before tax I think I booked it. When I called back to make a change they told me it was for people who live in the villages only ( I have no idea what that means or what villages she is speaking of BTW) She said I would have to show ID. I told her I was paid and confirmed , that is what the CM offered me and I was not going to give up the rate as by taking my money they basically entered into a contract. She spoke to a supervisor made a note on my ressie, told me they would honor the rate and I just have to show my AAA card at check in .So some pixie dust for us too!

How much is the AAA discount on average? I'm planning on making Disney trips once a year, if not every two years. Just wanted to see if it's worth spring for.

It's 10, 15 or 20% off depending on the resort and season. It is subject to availability, so certain resorts/room types may be sold out or not offered at the discount. We typically save $200-300 on moderates or deluxes.

Here's some info from the Mousesavers website:

isnt there something about booking with the AAA discount that you can only book the room through Disney, but if you want a package (room, tickets, dining) you have to do it through AAA them self?

Is that right... I am thinking of upping my value res in late july to the wilderness lodge, and that savings would be more, but I have tickets and dining also booked, so how do I go about doing all that?

You must book packages through AAA. You can make a room-only reservation (with AAA discount) through CRO.

I have heard some people saying that they were able to convert an existing reservation to a package, but I would assume that AAA rooms must be available in order to do so. IOW, if all of the AAA-discounted rooms are already in use, you would not be able to adjust your reservation to the discounted rate.
