AAA discount question

Hi,

In order to get a AAA discount rate, do you do your reservation through Disney and then tell them you have AAA? Or do you have to book through AAA?

Of course, I'm hoping some sort of 30% or 40% discount becomes available instead. But in the meantime, trying to find whatever discount I can, book, and then make changes if a better discount comes along.

Looking at November travel.

Thanks in advance!

I booked through WDW and got 15% off my moderate resort, park tickets are separate

If you book directly through AAA you also get some extra benefits, and if the package becomes discounted they should take care of it for you!

Sounds good - thanks! I'll contact them and see what they can do for me and compare.

You can book yourself thru official Disney site and tell them you are a AAA member, or you can book thru an agent of AAA. I just purchased park tickets today through AAA, it's a minimal discount savings, and silly me realized the Undercover tourist ticket prices were $20+ cheaper but in the end, nothing I can do about it now. AAA did give me the Diamond Parking Pass, which enables us to get a better parking spot; I heard it's closer to handicap parking.

If you're booking a room-only reservation, you can go through WDW and get the AAA discount. However, if you want a package (tickets and/or dining plan), you must book through AAA directly, and you get the AAA discount on the room portion of the package. Disney won't book a AAA-discounted package.

You can book the AAA room-only, and buy tickets separately with the AAA discount, either through AAA or WDW, but that's not considered a package, and you can't get the DDP that way.

I've yet to find tickets any less expensive than UCT via the Mousesavers link. :goodvibes

Thank you for posting this question. Good information! Was surprised to learn when booking direct with Disney that AAA discounts are not yet available for November. I thought they were always available. Does anyone know when they would be released for November, and if they apply to any room/resort/date?

Call back. That CM was wrong! I have a 20% AAA discount at BWV for Dec. that I booked in early Jan. So the discounts are available! I booked it with Disney on the phone not at a AAA office.

I can't seem to get Beach Club Resort AAA discount either. I've tried a few times and am always told they haven't been released yet?? We've booked direct throught Disney as well, over the phone. Very frustrating.

I'm wondering about this too. I'd love to book with some sort of discount - does anyone know what they give for the deluxes? I tried to book online with AAA, but the discount wasn't great - and it looked like they were adding some sort of fee in as well :confused3

I think I'll have to try and call Disney directly and see what they tell me. Wish you could just input this online and get a quote....

In the past I have been able to find AAA rates online at AAA.com but this time it just showed rack rate, for Sept anyway. I called Disney and requested pricing on WL & YC. WL was discounted 15% and YC was discounted 20%.

I second what cindym said. We have our November WL AAA room only discount already, and have had it since early January. We actually had Villa at WL 1 bedroom first with the AAA discount and then changed it to the WL CL about two weeks ago.

Perhaps they were trying to say there were no AAA discounts for the resort/room category you wanted?

I am glad to hear that someone else has a AAA room booked. I was beginning to wonder if the CM booked mine by mistake! They do have to honor the rate that they booked me for don't they?

wow - i compared a room booked through the Disney site to the same room (AoA suite) booked through the AAA site and the AAA site was $62 more for 6 nites. maybe they don't discount the budget resorts?

We have had a few rooms booked with the AAA rate and never had a problem. They just ask to see the card at check in.

I was having the same problem with the AAA site - either getting the same rate or even higher than Disney's site. I called this morning, and the CM quoted me about a 10% discount at the Poly (mid-August). Not great, but it saves about $375 for me, which was definitely worth the phone call.

One interesting thing though, he mentioned two separate times in our conversation to make sure I was still looking for Disney discounts to come out for that time period - he said "our discounts are usually much better than AAA". So, here's to hoping there'll be a decent room discount released for August :thumbsup2

I booked my package thru AAA for All Star Movies in Oct 5-11. We got a discount of $65 off the room. So I know they have discounts at the Values, but getting a discount with AAA at AOA did not work for a standard room, only for a suite. I tried. Hope that helps.
