AAA discount or APH rates??

I really need your help deciding what to do.

I currently have a reservation for the Polynesian resort for 8 nights in June. I reserved it with the AAA discount (10% off the regular rate) since there are no discounts available and wanted to make sure I have a room for my dates. Now if annual passholder rates come out can I apply the discount to my reservation even though it is considered a AAA discount room?

Also should I book another reservation with the same dates at regular price just in case I can't use the annual passholder rate for the AAA room? I don't mind paying an extra deposit since I could always cancel it. I am just afraid that it might create a problem if they find out I have two reservations.

I currently have a quote with Dreams Unlimited with a AAA rate. I asked the DU rep if I were to put a deposit on this quote and then AP discount rates came out could the reservation be changed to the AP from AAA easily. She told me no problem AND DU keeps their eyes on the rates and will change the reservation for me assuming there is an AP rate available for that room.

Based on this info from DU I don't think you need to reserve another room at regular rates.

Not a problem at all - I did this exact thing last fall. I made a ressie for the AKL Concierge at AAA rates, so that I could get my group onto the Sunrise Safari. When AP rates were announced - I called that morning. I was able to switch 5 nights of my stay, but the first two nights were during Super Soap Weekend, and they were not offered at that level for those days.
