I keep seeing that you can book hotels a bit cheaper with AAA and Ive heard of discounts at different disney and non disney stores and restaurants can you tell me about the ones you have encountered? DH and I thinking of getting membership for the discounts..

TIA!

My mom normally uses the AAA discounts as she plans the trip, so I don't know the places she normally uses it at but I know we use the AAA discount at Earl of Sandwich at DTD... 10% off I believe. I know we also often use it for our car rental, most places have a AAA discount, and off-site hotels also often have AAA.

Outside of Disney I use my AAA at New York and Company (15% off I believe) and at the outlet mall (if you have AAA they'll give you a coupon book).

That's where I normally use it

You can definitely book hotel rooms cheaper with AAA. I saved $50 this weekend. And you don't have to book thru AAA to get the discounts. I linked to Travelocity via ebates so as to get the ebates discount then entered my AAA number on the travelocity page. :thumbsup2

I've also saved at Target - 10% on online purchases - I saved $20 on a pinball machine for my kids for x-mas.

I've also gotten discounts at local restaurants - a local pizza place offers a free kids meal with purchase of adult meal.

My favorite discount is the advance purchase movie tickets. I can get 5 tickets for $35 and they are good for any show so I save about $4/ticket.

This thread offers some good information on Disney World related AAA benefits.

You usually save around $5 per ticket for Disney World through AAA. Last year we bought two 6 day Disney base tickets and two 2 day hoppers for Universal. We saved around $50 over gate prices, but most of the savings came from Universal. So, some attractions have bigger savings and some have measley $1 or $2 savings. (For Disney, Undercover Tourist actually has a better deal.)

Other than Disney World, if you go to your local AAA website or office, you can get discounts on other attractions like aquariums, movies, zoos, and other theme parks.

Yes, you can get discounts of around 10%-15% on hotels through AAA, but honestly you can find better discounts other ways. Bookit, hotels.com, etc. In addition, most hotels offer a discount for booking online in advance, and this discount is usually equal to or better than AAA. (In this case, the only possible downfall is that these advance bookings are usually non-refundable.)

The best AAA benefits in my opinion are the road-side services they offer. I can't count on one hand how many times my boyfriend has just called them up if he was in an accident or needed a tow for any reason. They showed up quickly for no extra charge and took care of whatever he needed.

I just saved 20% on The Lion King on Broadway tickets. We paid $101.50 instead of $128. When you're buying 9 tickets, that's a nice saving!

we just joined recently too and our favorite discount so far has been on our cell phone bill! we have tmobile and i think its either 12 or 14% in savings every month!!! that really adds up! we have 5 line so i think the membership paid for itself in about 3 months!!! :cool1:

I can't tell you how long my family has had AAA. Going back probably about 30 years. We are so used to it so it is hard to tell you what deals you can get. What I use, discount on lenscrafters and a few other eye places, movie tickets (I pay about $8 a ticket and it costs somewhere around 12 without ticket). AMC theaters are in downtown disney and you can get discount tickets if you like to watch movies. You get discounts on pretty much all amusement parks. I know you get a discount for food and merchandise at universal. Many hotels are discounted, even universal and disney hotels. Great to have if you car breaks down, you run out of gas, flat tire, etc. I believe you get three calls per person with this. If you book a disney trip through AAA, you get a few more perks like some discount at the main disney store at downtown disney, a diamond parking pass for the parks, if you are driving (this pass enables you to park closer to the entrance so you don't have to take the tram). I feel it is worth having even if you don't go to disney.

If you use Rx meds, they also offer a Prescription Savings card that saves on average 20% for any Rx meds not covered by insurance.

There are multiple online retailers (Kohl's, Barnes and Noble, etc.) that also give discounts along with the obvious discounts on hotels and travel and the roadside assistance plan.

You can look online at the AAA website at the "Savings" offered to members if you want to see if some of your favorites are included.

At Disney you can get AAA discounts on rooms and 10% at some DTD restaurants. I find AAA discounts far better on a Universal vacation, about 20% for rooms and 10% at restaurants at citywalk, restaurants and merchandise in the park.

I think of the discounts (when I remember to use my card) as perks. I keep it for the roadside assistance. Luckily we haven't needed it the last couple of years, but we used to have a very steep driveway and people were always getting stuck...I don't how many times AAA came and got people out of that driveway. Also, they have gone to DH's work, my work and out and about to change tires for me....all at no cost!! It's like insurance...it seems an unneccessary expense until you need it!

We love our AAA. I use it on hotel rooms both on and off property. I also use it when we renew our annual passes b/c it does save us some money. I haven't used it much for dining discounts though.

I love my AAA card. I use them to book all kinds of vacations/stays etc. If you do the whole vacation package through them you get the added perks like storytime (TOTALLY WORTH THE MEMBERSHIP FEE RIGHT THERE), and parking permits.

You also get roadside assistance, towing and lots of local discounts. You can go onto the AAA site and they have a long list of places and discounts you get.

Like I said, I think the storytime alone is worth the membership fee since you get some great interaction with the character and it is something not many people get to do in the park, a real hidden gem!

BTW the picture in my siggie is from a storytime. Snow White flipped out over my DS who decided he was in love with her. She gave him a great big kiss on the forehead! How else could we have had that experience?
