The rate for 3 nights at RPR on AAA's website are the exact same as on Universal's website. Is there no AAA discount, or does Universal's website give you a AAA discount automatically?

you may have to call reservations for the AAA rate.....it may or may not be available. also check your dates on the universal site to see if there is a supersaver rate (3 nights or more)

good luck!

Sometimes you can't get the AAA rate if the percentage of rooms are already filled with that discount.

not all rooms will have the AAA discount.
same with the APH rates.

a percentage of rooms are set aside to be available for the discount rates.

How do you do that?

I thought Supersaver rate was if you stay for 3 nights, you get 2 free.

That is one Supersaver rate, but there are different supersaver rates for anywhere from 3 to 7 nights stays including stay for 5 & pay 3 and stay for 7 & pay 4. If you want to know the rack rate, get the rate for a 1 or 2 night stay without any codes. It is possible that there may not be AAA rates for the time you are requesting - either all AAA discount have been used or possibly there may be a minimum night stay required or it may not be available for weekend days. If you cann't get an AAA rate on either the AAA web site or the hotel web site, it would be best to call your AAA office directly or the hotel to check.

I was able to get the AAA rate on Travelocity for my stay at RPR in October even though that rate wasn't available on Universal's website.

Hotel booking websites will request blocks of rooms that only they can sell. A month or so before the stay date, unbooked rooms are returned to the hotel's inventory. That's why if a hotel shows that it is completely booked up, rooms might still be available from Travelocity, Expedia, Orbitz, etc.

Not a bad deal at all...

Update: I called Universal to see if I could have my Yourfirst membership applied to my ressie and if I could have a room upgrade because of my Gold status. Although I was able to get the membership number added, the upgrade was denied because I booked through a 3rd party. So I had them book a new ressie at the same AAA rate with a free upgrade from standard to pool view (Thanks Gold status!) and then I cancelled my Travelocity ressie.

I guess the moral of this story is that if you want your Loews YouFirst membership applied and free upgrade (if you qualify) applied, call Universal. If you don't have a Loews YouFirst membership, Travelocity would still work fine.
