AAA and Disney questions

Right now, I am booked with a room only code at All Star Music. I've tried repeatedly to change to one of the Port Orleans Resorts but there is nothing available at POFQ and only a preferred room available at POR using the code.

I looked at the AAA site and there are standard rooms available at both and it's in the price range I am looking for.

If I call Disney directly, will they be able to modify my existing reservation and book POR with the AAA rate? Or will I have to do that directly through AAA?

You can book any AAA room only res if the AAA space is available, it's just the packages with an AAA room discount that have to be booked by an AAA agent. Rooms are limited like all other promo codes. I suspect the AAA site you are looking at does not show live inventory, that can change minute to minute for any given date on any discount code. Keep trying with Disney directly. It might be just one of those nights that is not available, so if you can move your dates back or forth a day that might work too.

Yes, Disney can modify your reservation by giving you the AAA if there are available rooms, but not packages. I just did this exact thing a few days ago. The AAA website was showing no availability with the AAA during my travel dates at my preferred hotel, The Beach Club Resort. However, when I called Disney, they showed availability at the Beach Club during my travel dates (November 21-26). The room discount was only 15%, but since I am traveling during Thanksgiving, that price is better than nothing. And actually, I had a 10% off pin, but that did not provide discounts to my room rate on November 21-November 23 because of blackout dates. However, the AAA discounted all days of my stay, giving me a true 15% off discount compared to the 5% discount the 10% discount pin actually gave me.

I called AAA after I had booked my room through Disney with my AAA card, but their package price was $80 more than what my total would be if I paid for everything individually.

I called Disney last night and they gave me a quote for a standard room at POR with the AAA discount but the price was about $15 more than what was on the AAA site. :confused3

Probably tax. The tax rate is 13% on rooms (except Pop Century which is 12.5%).

asking for a friend ( we already are booked with DVC) If someone books a AAA package and then a room code comes out that CANNOT be applied too right? I told her no, but figured I would ask here anyway :rotfl:

Correct. Only one promotional code can be utilized at a time.

Right, you can't stack discounts. But if the future discount is a better deal than the AAA discount, you should be able call up the AAA agent that you booked with and have them change your reservation to the new discount. (With the usual caveats about as long as there is resort and room type availability with the discount.)

I feel like such a noob, for the life of me I can't get any WDW resorts to come up when I search AAA. I'm signed in on AAA, put in my dates and all I'm getting are hotels near WDW but off-site. Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

ETA: Never mind, I had to put in the specific resort and then it would come up. After all of that, AAA shows the mods and values as being sold out during our time frame. I'll have to hope for general public discount.

I usually put in "Lake Buena Vista, Florida" and the Disney resorts will come up.
