AAA and AP Discounts

Hi all! We're hoping to stay onsite for our March 2014 trip

I just called and the man I spoke to said AAA/AP discounts have not been released yet, and won't be until November. Is this accurate? I thought I read that someone had already booked with a AAA discount for the same time period.

Also, should I wait until the discounts come out to book, or can I book now and add the discounts later? If the later is the case, are Universal hotels refundable and do they require a deposit?

They are refundable up to 5 days before you check in. You will require to leave one night's deposit.

It could very well be that AAA rates aren't out yet. That is quite far away, in Universal hotel terms. Maybe not for Disney, but it is for Universal.

when you book, you pay a one night's deposit for your reservation.

if you book at rack rates, you can modify to the discounted rate once those are released.

i usually book in december for october of the next year.
i do that to secure the dates i need.

when the AP rates or AAA are released (or any general promo), i call and modify my rate.
of course i have more than what is necessary already paid down and it is applied towards my total bill when i check out.
