thanks

Hi......you will find details of the AA baggage allowances here

The information re the allowance for the international sectors is not exactly helpful, but I believe that you will be more constrained by the allowance in the US domestic sectors - i.e. the allowance for the international sectors shouldn't be less than the domestic sectors.

hi thank you for the link ,I have already read this and I may be thick but I can't graps what it means so I really would like anyone who has acyually flown with them to tell me what happen to them please

Hi
We haven't flown with AA but last year we flew with United - and they have the same baggage policy. The maximum weight you are allowed in any one suitcase is 32kg, and they can be quite strict about it - especially on the internal flights, like chicago to Orlando. Coming home, my cousin was over the weight limit in one case, and had to pay a fair bit of cash. To be over the limit the case would have to be enormous......and jam-packed, probably more of a problem on the way home!!! :teeth:
You are allowed up to 64kg in total, in 2 pieces of luggage. Hand luggage is separate.
It is a lot compared to the charter allowance of 20kgs, and if you have children with you, they have the same allowance. Just be careful of the size of your suitcase

cool thank you for helping me out ,even I don't think i could fill that total weight for the 4 of us

My DW and her friends have just returned from Christmas shopping in Toronto. On the return flight one of her friends had a single suitcase of 34lbs. She was only allowed on the air canada flight after putting the offending 2lb's in one of the other ladies suitcases. The airline stated 2x32lbs is not a problem but 1x34lbs is as somebody has to lift the case, sometimes overhead!!!

We just (2 days ago) flew back from Orlando via Chicago with AA. We had no problem with our suitcases. One of the cases was a little over the limit and they did not charge us for that. There were 4 of us and we had 7 bags, 5 of the bags were way under the limit, so that may have been why they didn't charge us for the excess baggage. If you have any questions about the flight etc. feel free to PM me.

Having read this post, i have just looked up our baggage allowance and it appears we have the 32kg in two bags also. We are travelling with virgin, can anyone confirm this for me to. Many thanks Wendy.

Wendy....we are going with Virgin for the first time next year. That is my understanding too - 2 cases @ max 32 kilos per person. The key point here is that the max per case is 32kg, I believe.

A couple of months ago we flew back from MCO with UA and we had one heck of a job re-distributing items from suitcase to suitcase as 2 of our cases were over the individual limit....long story, shall not bore you! Needless to say we will never be over the individual case limit again.

BTW....AA website states that their case limit is only 50lbs, whereas most US scheduled airlines have a 70lbs (32kg) limit.

I flew AA from Glasgow to LAX via Chicago. The limit was 2 pieces, each weighing a max of 32kg. i.e. 64kg per person.

Hope this helps.

John
