A year later and now we like SSR!

This Thanksgiving week we were booked at OKW. The room location was not the best...we faced the parking lot in front and a "water pump"?? outside the slider. My DS woke up the next day feeling very congested and "headachy" and we weren't sure if it was an allergy to the air conditioning room air or just one of those things. Even though the resort was very pretty...it was not "our cup of tea". So holding our breaths...this being Thanksgiving week...we asked if there were any other resorts available. Our home resort of SSR was and we grabbed it! Last Thanksgiving we had been to SSR and had some disappointments with the resort but surprise, surprise we have come to really enjoy the resort. We got a gorgeous view of DTD! We were right next to the Congress Park quiet pool which was fantastic. The room was clean and spacious. We were right next to the bus stop. The only complaint we have is with the setup of Artist Pallete. The food was really good but the cash register system has got to go! We stood in line for 15 minutes...with our eggs getting cold while the cashiers took care of people buying gifts and such . The retail store should have it's own cahier and the food court area should have it's own. Wer spoke to several people who complained and just walked away before paying for their meals...just went to the tables and started eating.

We have never stayed at SSR but we were at POR at Thanksgiving and we took the bus to DTD I thought it looked really beautiful!! Glad things worked out for you!!

ITA regarding the AP. It definitely has room for improvement as far as checking out. But the shopping area and food area are very nice.

Hi - we stayed in the Paddock area Nov. 25-Dec1. We always stay at our home resort - BCV, but we planned this as a late trip and stayed at Saratoga Springs. I really liked it! We weren't near anything, but it was not a big deal. We walked to the theme pool - a beautiful stroll around a small lake. The birds and landscaping were great! The bus stop was right near our building and the car parked right in front. Our unit was very clean and in good condition. All in all we really were please and would easily stay there again.

Frankly, I have been so disappointed with the condition of the villas at the BCV that I am glad not to have that angst again. But I did miss the short walk to Epcot and boat ride to MGM. Sandie

I have personally stayed at the BWV...the BCV...and the WLV. SSR is our home resort and this is my absolute favorite!! I like the layout (we don't mind walking..heck afterall it is Disney..there IS walking involved). I love the villas...the pools...the main house...the bus service was fantastic. I had no complaints whatsoever.

We even used our points last July for a stay at the Poly concierge. While the whole experience at the Poly was wonderful...we missed SSR! I love having a villa as opposed to a room...we are too spoiled...lol

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay there...we are hooked!

I own at SSR & OKW, love all the resorts and have stayed at all the resorts. I found a much as I like the larger rooms at OKW, when I stay at SSR over OKW I get better views all the time at SSR. OKW has lots of trees around the golf course and they can block any view you might have. My best view is BW view, over looking the lake and all the activity on the board walk is great.

I'm so glad that you got the opportunity to change to where you were happy, as well as to give a resort a second chance. I'm just wondering, do you remember where you stayed at OKW? It sure doesn't sound like I want that location!
