A Wrong Number and A Missing Dad

I'm trying my best to ignore my cell phone tonight, but after hearing it ring and ring for the past few minutes in the other room, I went to check it out of worry for DF.

I look at it and there are seven missed calls and one voicemail. A very young boy or girl left me a voicemail saying, "Hey dad, it's just me again. I'm just wondering where you are." :sad1: So now there is some child out there somewhere who is waiting for dad to no avail.

I can't call back because the number is one of those "restricted numbers", but the first call from him/her was from 5:38pm, and the voicemail-leaving call was at 7:17pm. So some poor child has been waiting for dad (and calling the wrong number) for about two hours! I sure hope dad is okay!

oh gosh how sad. Poor baby.

Im sure the dad was just late or something.

Poor kid. Could you change your voicemail so that if the kid reaches it again they will realize they have the wrong number? Maybe they are just misdialing. I hope the kids Dad gets home soon.

Wow, I'm posting to this super late, but my thoughts would be to maybe call your cell phone company and explain the situation...maybe they would be able to have some sort of access to the number and maybe be able to patch you through? :confused3 Thats so sad...

I would have just answered it the next time it rang.

ITA!

Maybe I am missing something, but it seems that answering the phone would have been the logical option, especially if he kept calling back.

I'm with those who say answer. The kid likely just has the wrong number but needs to know that.

yeah i was thinking that, myself. wouldn't he figure it out by the message, that the number was wrong??:confused3

It sounded to me like after the OP figured out what was going on, the child did not call back. I sure she would have answered if he/she had called again.

I bet the dad is having an affair with an exotic dancer :scared1:

Not necessarily. My voicemail message just has the computer voice saying "The person at XXX-XXX-XXXX is not available right now".

That was what I thought as well. The OP ignored the phone ringing several times (and I have do so myself so many times!) and then later checked the phone and discovered the multiple calls from the unknown caller, as well as the voicemail.

The OP said she then checked and there was no call info to call the child to tell that he/she was not calling the Dad.
