A WONDERful Texas Christmas 12/18/15

Oh my! I've missed so much, and am so crazy excited about the FEs. This is our first cruise and our first Disney Cruise. We are coming with my DH's family for their 50th anniversary. My husband, my daughter and I want to be in a FE group.

CRLParker - Room 7088, 3 people, Christi, Rob, and Loulie (girl-8)

What else do we need to do to sign-up?

Hi, all. I have a question. Do we do our FE gifts in the evening or in the morning? If evening, do we do it the first night? If morning, do we still do it the last morning since disembarkment is so early? We've never done this before so I don't want to do it incorrectly. Thanks so much in advance for your responses.

Also, I realize I didn't put our actual names for the FE list so here they are:
Poppy (yes, hubby's name), Tracey (mom), Madison (daughter, 6).

We are room 1070, FE group 1.

I have been watching this thread because we were considering doing fe but decided against it. I think the group is closed and if you want to do fe you have to start a new group.

I believe that a second group was started on this thread. Just the first group was closed so we crafters could get started with our gifts. I believe it is the user on here 'usafvet' that has so graciously and ably organized it all.

Thank you. I have replied to usafvet that I am interested, and am waiting to hear back. It looks like a small 2nd group so far, so I'm hoping more people join in the fun!

Hey we have a room number! It is 6303! I see that we are now in the 2nd group. When will the cut off day be for this group? I can't wait to get started! :D

I never heard anything, but I just got in a FE group through another website. You can take me off of this list.

What is the site that you joined another FE group? I have asked for our friends to be added (they were supposed to be earlier and never were). We might leave this FE group because I cannot get a response! Thanks for the information!

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been on here in awhile. I've had a tumultuous couple of months in Sept and Oct with the death of a few friends, so jumping on here hasn't been a priority.

I see that in my absence from this forum a couple of folks interested in joining an FE group. Two additional families wanted to join. I was going to start a second FE group, but after some consideration, I fear that group may only have those two families on it. I don't think that would be fair to them and I don't want them to miss out on the opportunity to participate, so I went ahead and added those two families to our initial FE group.

I know some folks wanted to get an early start on their FE projects and I apologize if adding these two additional families potentially hinder what you may have already done. I just figure it wouldn't be worth starting a second group and went ahead and added them to ours. That stated, the FE group is now closed at 16 cabins. There are other groups out there that one can join and I encourage anyone interested to do so.

For those on the list, if any change in information happens between now and then, please let me know so I can update the list.

Awhittle, I got your email today and I will add your friends to the initial group since you told me about them before I closed it off. Again, I'm sorry I've been out of touch.

FE group list:

1.) Amandafb: Grandma (Carol), Mom (Amanda), Kathryn (16) Michael (9). Cabin # 1032

Hello All! We just booked last week on the Wonder for 12/18 and are first time cruisers. We are from Canada, but currently living in Texas. Looks as though we have a bit of catching up to do but we are pretty excited! There will be four of us...my wife and I and our two boys ages 3.5 and 5.

This forum seems to be full of information (maybe even too much for a rookie!). Wondering if someone could point me towards any types of bookings, etc that I should be considering right now, before Dec 18?

Thanks!

Usavet,
So sorry about your friends. I understand your absence from the board. Babyd2003 finally got their cabin assignment. They will be in 6637. Thanks again for organizing the FE.

We have just booked the Christmas cruise a few weeks ago. This is the first time my kids, 11 year old girl and 6 year old boy, are going on a cruise. Also, this is the first time I am traveling as a single parent. Anyone have any tips on how to do this? I am a little overwhelmed by the thought of doing this on my own.

Hello from Houston!

Congrats on booking! And congrats on your first cruise! And also congrats on traveling for the first time as a single parent!
I traveled on DCL's Magic, for the first time, as a single mom. Ours was an 8 night out of Galveston. Stops were Key West and Disney World. I, too, was a bit... anxious. I read a lot on the Disboards and tried to familiarize myself with the way that DCL works so that I had some ideas of things to do and wasn't wandering about the ship aimlessly. :)
I'm here to tell you that THAT first sailing was great. We were seated with a single dad with two daughters, both of which were within a year of my youngest daughter's age. The younger kids hit it off- which made it easier because she (the youngest) wasn't so clingy and wanted to go to the club to hang with her friends. My older daughter found some new friends on night 5- she was 16- (so that wasn't the easiest thing to do because she was too cool for the club).

Occasionally he and I would see each other in the hallway and we ended up taking the kids to some games and stuff. That was nice-- simply to have another adult to talk to.

Dinner time-- Let the servers at all meals cater to your kids. You'll find you enjoy yourself far more. :)

I'd suggest bringing a book or a few books in case you find yourself with down time while the kiddos are in the clubs. The adults only sections are a refreshing change too when they're preoccupied with the kids club. I had a rain forest room pass- and I used it daily- alone. NICE.
Each night we dined together (late dining) and then I set them loose to the clubs. So each night I had my own down time although I just went to my room and relaxed on most nights. During the day time things were sporadic and we did family stuff sometimes and individual things other times.

I never let my 6 year old (at the time) check herself out of the club or walk the ship alone. Either my older daughter, or I, were with her if she wasn't in the club. Additionally, she'd just broken her arm 8 days before we sailed and was in a cast so we did NO pool time or ocean time.

Castaway was fun-- just make sure to have everything for your day so you don't find yourself needing to pack up the family to head back to the ship for anything. Over pack on Castaway day. (And I'll be the one getting married on Castaway day so be sure to snap a few pictures if you see us).

I hope I gave you some insight. :) 40 days!!
