A Wigdout trip report, DISmeets, Flashing Jelly Rings and Manpris, Oh MY!

MeMom, What a terrible accident!! I'm so glad Trent recovered. How wonderful that his friends rallied around him!

Katie - Wow! How scary! It gives me chills to think about what might have been. I'm so glad your precious boy is okay.

Stories like that give me pause to remember my blessings and thank God for my beautiful children. Thanks to both of you for sharing.

I think I know what it is, too.
You guys are going to get the ship to stop one day in Nashville! :cool1:
Would a Disney cruise ship even fit in the Cumberland River???

I can ask........

It was crazy alright! I'm glad it's just a bad dream of the past now, but every once in a while I get a little misty-eyed thinking of it. I didn't realize the severity of what the surgeons were telling me, but when we had a prayer and Trent's trainer left the room crying, I knew then it might be pretty bad.

I hope to never go through anything like this, how awful.

They put him on a closed wing of the floor because the trainer told them there would be 600 kids up there!
His friends love him!
Trent got very little from me, I think. He's a people person, and I'm pretty reserved in real life. He's handsome and athletic, and, well...
I'm not!

I did play church softball and a year of volleyball. I played basketball, way back when basketball was three-on-three and the guards only went to halfcourt! I also played a year of junior college basketball, but that was just a freak thing. I think they were in dire need of players and they took whoever walked by!

I'm just very glad there is no video evidence of my fabulous play! ;)

MeMom, you must have been athletic to have done all that! I was a runner, our relay team took third in state when I was a senior. It was all sprinting, and I ran the third leg of the race, the slow one...

Thank you for whispering about those things. :)
I've never seen Titanic. I guess I shouldn't either, huh?

He's happy and healthy now.
He's especially happy about his upcoming Wilderness Lodge visit.

I think they have more life boats now, Titanic didn't have enough....
I would be excited about staying at WL too!

I remember that feeling. My child was totally in the hands of strangers.

Katie, we are both very blessed that our boys are fine now. Trent is strong as an ox. He does have stomach issues depending on the foods he eats sometimes, but considering everything he went through, that's a tiny thing.

Those 'what ifs' help keep us grounded. :thumbsup2

It really makes you appreciate your kids.

Now, about that cruise stop in Nashville. It'll just be a tiny bit out of your way. We have friends that have a fine house right on the river, too. We can meet you there!!! :dance3:
I would be more than happy to ask the ship's captain about a small detour!
You found me out, MeMom!

I don't know -- is the Cumberland River pretty wide and deep? I don't know how big the Disney Wonder is, but I would imagine it is pretty big.
How about if they waited at the largest part of the river and we took a lifeboat?
Hey Wigd. sorry for the delayed post about your late update. We have been out of pocket most of the weekend.
Shocker and I were just commenting on your absence last night, does that mean you were off for a fun weekend, don't tell me the beach again!
I would say I was shocked that you had pictures of Shocker in Publix grocery store with the buggy.......but I do recall from your pre-trippie the pictures of cup-o-soup taken at your local grocery store........so, I really was only surprised to again find Shocker the one in the picture and not so terribly surprised that you had some of the grocery store itself!! :rotfl2:
Shocker is the buggy boy, he always helps me shop and is in charge of pushing!
Chicks church is pretty and pretty fancy too........don't see many with fancy water fountains out front around here.
It was pretty and we don't have anything like that here.
Who would have thunk, a Mickey D's would be soooo much fun, with CS prices on fancy food for a CS meal!!! :lmao::rotfl2::lmao: I was so thrilled to see my buddy Baylor getting to shoot some hoops!!!
You guys would have loved that McDonalds! Yes, always a hoop.:goodvibes
I am sure you would have had a blast at the Cast Members Connection or whatever it was called.........I bet there have been lots of VB left behind!!! :sad2: Though, who knows you might have run across Lil' Red.......he is still somewhere around Disney World. :sad1:
Oh, I never thought about the possibility of a VB lurking in there!:headache: I would have felt like such a superstar if I could have recovered Lil' Red!:wizard:
I take it that Shocker has booked the cruise? Oh, I wouldn't worry about splurging on the high price passports. If what you said about Shocker is true (that he never likes to leave your side)...if for some reason you were stranded and needed to fly back............well, I would think with HIM with you, whatever country you were in would make it happen pretty quick!!! Beep, Beep, Brother.........I sure have missed you!!! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:
Yes, the cruise is booked! We will be attempting to book our Disney part of the stay today, wish us luck!
We will be applying for the full passport, CP and her Passporter know best!:cutie:

MeMom, what a scarey time for your Trent. I know it must have felt terrible to have his sports career shortened suddenly, but I'm glad he's okay, and God has bigger things for him.

Wig'd, I know you're scared for Baylor to play football. I felt the same way about my very athletic but average sized son. He was an all conf. catcher on a two time sate champ baseball team. I talked him out of football every year by saying, "you don't want to be hurt for basketball." Well, he quit the basketball team his Jr. year because the coach was a jerk, so he decided he was playing football his Sr. year. He hadn't grown that much more, but he had so much fun!

He got to be a starter on the varsity team - they won their conference and took 3rd at State. It was really fun for all of us, and he regretted not having the experience all through HS. I regret it too. :sad2: So, there you have my "mom to mom" talk of the day.:goodvibes

Katie, thanks for sharing your story. It reminds us how precious life is.
I do worry about Baylor's size, there are much bigger boys playing, but, some are smaller too. My greatest fear right now is the heat when they start practicing. It can be over 100 degrees and those little guys are practicing in full gear.
So far we have been lucky with coaches, but I know we can't be that lucky forever...

wow that is so sad, yet happy at the same time since he is alive and well. I started crying. :sad2: I am so thankful to have such healthy babies. I do have a son with cp but he is still healthy for the most part. He just has problems with getting tired and is weaker than a normal child from the spongy upper body.
Now when I was pregnant with my last baby we found out that he only had a 2 vessel impelical cord and that was scary. They are suppose to have a 3 vessel. Normally they are missing or have a nonfunction kidney, but they found out after several ultrasounds that he had both and they appeared to be fine. They are also usually low birth weight babies and he diffently was not that at a wooping 10lbs 8oz and 21 3/4 inches long. :scared1:
So much for low birth weight!
I believe it's your turn again. ;)

MeMom, my goodness what a scary time for you and your family! I can't even imagine going through that.

Katie, even though I have heard your story about your younger DS, you deserve more hugs.
Yes, an update is coming right up!

Is "out of pocket" a Southern saying? :cool1:

Out of pocket, to me, means having to pay for something without being reimbursed or paying for something that was not part of the package...

I just love the colloquialisms from the South! :thumbsup2
I'm waiting for the same answer....

You know, I didn't think about the heat. Make sure he drinks lots before he leaves for practice. We always had to be careful with our DS - he collapsed from the heat once during Baseball.

When I left you last Charlotte had just left us, I went back to the studio and the phone was ringing.........

Charlotte was on the other end of the call. Her sister and bil had called her and wanted to meet up at Disney Quest with their little boy. Charlotte knew that I was not a fan of DQ but she felt bad for Baylor since he had been disappointed about passing up so many fun places on International Drive. So she asked if Baylor would like to join them for the evening. Believe me, he was thrilled! So she was back to pick him up in less than five minutes.
Charlotte's bil is a CM so Baylor was able to get in for NO CHARGE! Bonus!!:cloud9:

I wanted to look through the goodie bag Charlotte had brought us so I took a picture........
There was a t-shirt for Baylor from her school's summer camp, some gator jerky, sea shells, my new down fall, Citrus jells, mmmmmmmm, Citrus jelly, a Milka bar that was in the fridge and as I mentioned before two cases of water! How thoughtful!

095-4.jpg

I'm still trying to think of something that I can send her from Kansas to repay her but I don't think a loaf of bread from the bread basket would compare....:rotfl:

Marc and I decided to head over to the pool and check it out, we were very close to the main pool, so it was a short walk. We headed off with our pool noodles and resort mugs. We spent some time in the pool and jacuzzi, they started the movie and we watched for a bit from the lounge chairs. Sorry but I can't remember what the movie was, it was an older, animated and I had never seen it before. The kids were so cute watching from in the pool...
After our swim we went back to the room, got cleaned up and logged on to chat.
Baylor called us and said that he was having a great time, and after they stopped to eat he would be back. They had a quick meal at Wolfgang Puck Express and he had chicken strips.
Charlotte, if you have pictures of Disney Quest, please post them!:goodvibes

Hahaha, Shocker did it for you!

You know, I didn't think about the heat. Make sure he drinks lots before he leaves for practice. We always had to be careful with our DS - he collapsed from the heat once during Baseball.

I will make sure that he drinks plenty of water all day long..... :thumbsup2

Glad you got something from the stories. It's always good when we can uplift each other along life's way. :)

Awesome. I'll be on the lookout for a lifeboat with a bunch of wild and crazy DISers on it!

Those stories made me feel very fortunate!

Good reminders of every precious moment of time we have with those we love. It gives me more patience, too, when he's getting on my nerves!

So cool that Baylor got to go to DisneyQuest...and for free! :yay:

One of my nicest memories of Disney World was when we arrived on Christmas night and families were hanging out in and around the pool at All-Star Music watching The Santa Clause. It was a beautiful night, it was Christmas, our whole trip was ahead of us, and there were families all around us having together time in such a fun, simple way.

out of pocket = business speak (BS for short :rotfl:); people in the corporate world use this phrase when they want others to think they're really busy and very important.

I truly knew that blesseddaddy was really busy and very important in his real life! :worship:

Wouldn't that be a sight?!?:rotfl2:

I'll remember that today when Baylor is splashing me in the pool....... he's a precious boy, what ever would I do without him......:rolleyes1

Oh thanks for the information! You know that I am learning a new language this summer don't you?:rotfl:
What a nice treat for Baylor! Did he like DQ? Had he been before?
Baylor was very pleased because he knew that I would not be taking him to Disney Quest. We had gone one afternoon on our 2007 trip, the place is dark, loud, and smells weird........
Kids love it, (if they are into video games) and it is a good place to go on a rainy or hot day, but it gave me a headache.:headache:

I finally got caught up! great report so far!
Thanks Hallie, it's good to have you back! Did the dogs dance when they saw you?

I truly knew that blesseddaddy was really busy and very important in his real life! :worship:

I thought so too, or maybe he was just down in Florida at the beach........

OK, I need some help from one of you very smart DISers. I don't know how to pull a snippet out of a post for responding purposes. Can someone please pm me and give me detailed instructions?

That was so cool that Charlotte took Baylor out. What fun and a goody bag to boot! What a nice gesture. I needed to hear a good story today. Thanks for sharing ya'lls trip report.

Oh and about the expression "out of pocket"... I always have thought that it had two meanings 1) pay now and then you will be reimbursed and 2) gone missing like I was out of pocket for awhile sort of MIA (missing in action)

Miss being on the boards... we had a mini flood in our master bath. I will hopefully catch up with ya'll this evening. : )

Do you mean like the above?
If so, I just quote and then delete what I don't need. It's harder to do when people color and size every individual sentence or paragraph instead of just the whole post, because it's hard to find the writing with all the things in [brackets]. If the size and color brackets only show at the beginning and end of the entire post, it's really easy to find the phrases you are looking for and just highlight and delete the rest.

If that's not what you meant, then never mind. :)

OK, Brother quit using them there CITY WORDS on this country boy..... colloqualisms???? what does that even mean??? I ain't sure if you threw me under the bus or not??? :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Well, being the poorer brother, I don't get to use the phrase OUT OF POCKET when referring to spending sprees and WDW vacations......if it ain't in our package, we don't plan on it being out of our pocket....if ya get my drift????? Soooooo, I do attempt from time to time to be like my wealthy Dis-relatives and use them phrases as well, even if I have to use 'em for other instances. As in this case, where we had gone up yonder to visit our kin folk and didn't have a computer near us out in the sticks, where the old home place is located.

I didn't know they also used that phrase in the corporate world, being that I ain't in it and all?? I guess some city folk, like to pretend they are like us country bumpkins as well?? Who knew??? :confused3 I also assure you that I am neither busy, nor "very" important! :sad2:

Tell Wigd. I wished we had been at the beach and at this point we aren't even sure we will get to go down there on the 4th., but somethings in life are much more important than fireworks on the gulf!!

MeMom and Katie, such inspiring stories you shared, it should cause us all to stop and think about how lucky and fortunate we are, how blessed indeed, as well as giving us reasons to cherish each moment!!

Oh and after seeing the goodies that FLChick unloaded at your place, I can't wait until my next trip to Disney.....you know how I love me some FREE stuff!! I not only still have her number, I know have it underlined!! ;) That was really nice of her to come and take you around and show you what having a RENTAL all the time would allow you to see and do.....off site......then again, she may have spoiled Shocker to the point that he may think.......RENTAL, who needs a RENTAL, we just never need to loose her number!!! :rotfl2:

Hi Carla, was wondering what you were up to, I actually thought you might be out of town... Did you get that bathroom taken care of?
I hope to make it to chat tonight for a bit, my BIG project today is to clean Baylor's room, I'm smelling something in there.....:sad2:

Oh gosh, now I'm worried that something is wrong, what could be more important than fireworks on the gulf!?! Please don't tell me that someone is sick!
MeMom and Katie, such inspiring stories you shared, it should cause us all to stop and think about how lucky and fortunate we are, how blessed indeed, as well as giving us reasons to cherish each moment!!
I had to reflect back on those stories while Baylor and Shocker were discussing poop while we were eating lunch today........:rolleyes1
Oh and after seeing the goodies that FLChick unloaded at your place, I can't wait until my next trip to Disney.....you know how I love me some FREE stuff!! I not only still have her number, I know have it underlined!! ;)

Be sure to keep that number, I just hope she hasn't opened her little sideline tour guide business before you get back.:rotfl:

I fear without her we would have gotten very lost, I guess we will need a GPS if we ever decide to rent a car.....

Oohhh You are going on a Disney cruise!!! Have you been before? Wonder or Magic? I did the Wonder 4 night in 2007. Had sooooooooo much fun!!! Our stateroom was a class 6 and had a veranda. We did the Dolphin Excursion on Paradise Island. I paid extra and didn't book through the cruise so that we could do the actual dolphin swim. So worth it and such a great memory! I have Disney pictures from trips all over my desk at work! ;) And don't even get me started on the food!! :rotfl:
