A Whole New World, Disney during a Pandemic

While our Epcot experience was all of 3 hours, I'd like to share my thoughts.

First: It's hot as blazes out there. Be sure to hydrate. It's so easy when you're wearing a mask to forget to drink.

Second: If you didn't exercise much during quarantine, it can be a challenge to walk the parks. DS and DH exercised the entire time. They did a lot of walking. I on the other hand, did not. And it's really annoying to be huffing and puffing in a mask. I held them back. They said I walk at turtle pace.

Third: If you want to be socially distanced from other guests, you have to actively make it happen. We didn't encounter many people. But some of the people we did encounter were eating and drinking while walking. Even though the new rule is in effect, some people didn't seem to know it applied to them. There was no one enforcing the policy. In fact, the yellow shirt cm was the only cm we saw outside of attractions. We encountered a group of drunk people. That group was all over the place. Hanging on each other, running, jumping, dropping things. Playing with the hand sanitizer station and throwing it at each other. We stepped aside to let them pass. And kept our distance.

I’ll be posting live for the next few days! We check in today! I’m interested to see how resort life is. Will we feel as safe at a resort as we do in the parks? Will I be brave enough to go on the Skyliner? Will we get the section of resort we requested? Will we dine in a restaurant or drive for carry out? We don’t know, we have not planned anything except resort and park reservations.

Have you ever just winged it? Made reservations for the resort almost 2 weeks ago. Then made park reservations and ordered magic bands. The magic bands arrived a couple days ago! I was cutting it close!

We followed the people and the signs to temp check and bag check. Here it was harder to social distance. There were 4 people checking temps and everyone went through the metal detectors. You keep your items in your bag.

The Oasis was empty.

Most people were heading to Pandora. We headed towards Kilimanjaro Safari.

Passed by one of the two Relaxation Stations where you may temporarily remove your mask. It was closed, but located at Pizzafari.

I have mixed feelings about an indoor area to remove your mask. While air conditioning will feel great, an outdoor area would be safer from the virus.

We’ll probably stay away from an indoor area without a mask for a while.
Do they limit the time that you sit in the relaxation station?

Since we're local, we don't often stay at a resort. In fact, we've only stayed a few time since Star Wars Weekends ended. (We use to stay every weekend of SWW from Thurs to Monday.) So it was a real treat when we were planning our vacation this summer, to tag on 3 night at Pop Century!! We've stayed at All Star Resorts since refurbishment, but this was our first time at Pop in the refurbished rooms. We love having the queen size beds! The murphy bed is comfortable and it's nice to have more available space in the room.

I always request 50's and 1st floor. Usually I use the Touring Plans app to make my request. But my subscription expired and for the first time in years, I have not renewed. I made my reservation almost 2 weeks before our stay. So I was able to do online check in and order our magic bands right away on MDE. I requested only 50's. And I called to request 1st floor since that is no longer an option. I booked a pool view room.

We went with full expectation of having a noisy room at the pool. Instead, we were almost as far away from the pool as a pool view can get. Our room number 3171. Building 3, 1st floor. And it was very quiet!

View from room, blurred by sun's reflection.

If you are driving, Building 3 doesn't have a parking lot near it. We drove, and it was a long hot walk to the car to get luggage. And I'm an over packer, so it was a few trips in the hot, Florida sun? This building and room would be more convenient coming in on Disney's Magical Express, less of a walk.

Many of the standard rooms in Building 3 have a great view of the Skyliner!

As I entered the room, I started taking photos and dh and ds just rolled their eyes.

Directly beside the door, is this nightstand for the murphy bed.

Refrigerator, the drawer opens to an assortment of teas and coffee, creamers, sugar, stirring sticks and plastic lids. Ice chest and plastic coffee cups on the shelves. There were 3 garbage cans without liners beside this.

The sliding door between the bedroom and dressing room is very powerful. Last last few inches, it quickly shut itself. A little child could get hurt by this. I had to use all my might to open the door. There was like a suction.

Love following along. What type of coffee machine is in the room? Also, can luggage fit under the bed?

I’m not much of a coffee drinker. I think they were cuisine art. The packets of coffee were flat like tea bags.
