OK heres the scenerio.... We were planning on having an Illuminations dessert party the night of our wedding although the ceremony and reception would be in the morning/afternoon and our guests would have to take a break and come back. So DH2B mentions he kind of thinks its a pain and overboard. So flash forward to the twisted way my mind works and I am like "I can add Cinderella's Coach for the price it would have cost to have the Illuminations dessert party" and everyone wins LOL.

So what would you do.....
Cindy's Coach or
Illuminations dessert party ???

Other factors to considor is it will be Nov/ almost Dec and it will probably be cold in a wedding gown outside next to the lagoon.

Definately Illuminations...I had an early morning wedding 9am at SBP with a reception following 10-3. My guests got a break, I got some time with dh and a nap, we all got refreshed & everyone changed and got comofortable (well excepy me & dh). I felt very refreshed after those couple hours. The food was amazing, the fireworks were awesome & the photographs are priceless.

I definitely see your point with the concerns about the weather especially! I say if you can spend the $$ on Cinderellas' coach and that would thrill you, go for it!! The pictures of that will also be priceless :wizard: :cloud9: :goodvibes :lovestruc :grouphug:

I am so glad you posted this! When I can make plans, I want the same thing -- a morning wedding, early afternoon reception, and Illuminations dessert party. I too wondered if it was too much for just one day!

My vote is Illuminations. I think that is more enjoyable for the guests than Cinderella's Coach. Just my opinion....

I'd go for the illuminations party. I'm actually doing the same thing (wedding and reception in the morning and afternoon and then a dessert party at night). It'll be a full day of events for my guests. And it'll be on Dec 22, 2006. :thumbsup2

I just can't decide which one!! In a way a would like to spend the rest of the day with my new hubbie and relax but the other part of me wants Illuminations because it is such a Disney experience. But the coach is so princessy. I would just do both but I know my dh2b would kill me!!! ;)

We did the 9 am Epcot wedding, brunch for a reception that ended about 2:30 and then illuminations. I think it went fine, althought we did have about 10 people out of 50 that RSVPd and did not show...Just keep that in mind

We only have 21 guests so if 10 of them didn't show up I would be :furious:
I almost wonder if it is a waste for so few guests.

I have to tell you that I think that the party was one of the best things that I did. I actually got to visit a bit with people at the party. You won't get to watch Illuminations though....with all of the pictures if you choose to have them taken. I love the pictures..

I didn't have an illuminations party, but I did have my reception at the AA in Epcot.
Many of my guests hadn't been to Disney before, and they were overwhelmed when we all went outside to a special area to watch the fireworks. It was the icing on the cake, and ended the day off beautifully.
I have to admit though when it was all over there were a bunch of things I wish I had added, one of which was Cindy's coach, but if I were to choose again, I would still go with illuminations.
Our wedding started at 3pm, so by the time the ceremony was all over it was time for dinner. following dinner I had a caricature artist and magician come which kept all my guests amused for ages. Then the fireworks started at 9.

I think I am definatly going to stick with Illuminations! It is also the Holiday version so it will be extra special.... I may just have to slip Cindy's coach in without him knowing :stir: then we will just exit and get in lol. What a surprise that would be for him!!(and for his check book)

I would definately go for Illuminations! Ive been to an Illuminations party beginning of december and it was not to cold at all. I mean u would need a stole of something over your sholders but end of nov/ beginning of dec you still get plenty of nice days. Plus as you mentioned you get the extra holiday decorations and holiday version of illuminations!

my vote goes for the illuminations dessert party. it was such an awesome experience for us & our guests. personally i would move the wedding up so there wouldnt be that gap & have the dessert party to end the evening (thats what we did). best wishes!

There are two reasons why I do not want to move it up. Reason number one is I think my guests will be totally stuffed!! and alot of food will go to waste. Reason number two is because we want our reception at the California Grill and we won't be able to have our reception in the main dining room at night.... we have to end before 4pm I believe. I think it will work out alright.... it might not be the best plan but we have a small guest list that only includes immediate family so I am sure they will be fine with it.

I still want the Coach!!!! but I think the party caters more towards the guests and the coach caters only to me.

>> party caters more towards the guests and the coach caters only to me.

I'd lean towards the Illuminations thing with a wrap of some sort to ward off the chill.

But, I think you have to remember that this day will only come around once, and if you want the coach, then I say go for it. I'd rather my wife-to-be to remember the day with with a happy smile rather than saying "I wished I had done the coach."

My $.02 anyways.

Jim.

I'd vote for Illuminations. I had that and the coach, and I think more back to Illuminations than the coach (no that it wasn't wonderful!)

Another idea, you can see if you can do a Breathless exit after Illuminations. I think its only like $75 if they're still allowing brides to choose that. Not quite the coach, but an amazing exit! :D

I have been to a dessert reception at EPCOT. It really was a high point.

BUT, there is something to be said for a ride in the famous carriage.

Disney knows how to charge for both of these things, and I am not sure where the carriage can travel; I would check with your wedding planner for the restrictions before getting your hopes up.

Never having ridden in the coach of honor, I can't say whether the memory and photo is worth it. I think it is a difficult choice.

I would think that your quests eould be half expection the coach (so it looses the WOW factor) but they would enjoy the reception longer.

I guess what I am trying to say is that it is a tough decision...I would probably do both, if just one is available, I would go with your first instincts and do the dessert reception.....
