and where I ate
Sunday 1st:-
We didn't arrive at the Swan until about 6pm, so it's easy eating tonight. It's becoming somewhat of a tradition if we are in the BW area to hit Beaches & Cream on our first night. Quick, casual, yummy burgers and as there was three of us to share it, a nice big Chocolate brownie sundae....yum yum....top quality as usual and B&C remains our favorite 'grab a bite to eat' place.
Monday 2nd:-
MGM today, so we grabbed some Fast Food at the ABC Commissary. They have a new menu since I was last there so we decided to give it a go. It was ok for food on the go. DBF had a burger (Ok) and I had the Cuban Sandwich (ok)which came with Plantin chips which was a bit different. Overall it was....ok. Nothing exciting, but perfectly decent.
Dinner was another new adventure - The Flying Fish at the Boardwalk. I'm not a huge fish fan, but I'd heard so many good reports about this place that I decided to give it a try. I'm so happy to say that I wasn't disappointed
DBF had the Steak which he said was excellent even though I was eyeing it a bit warily because it was black - he assured me that it wasn't at all burnt, just it's coloring. I had the Salmon which was melt in the mouth. Not cheap, but the food was top notch and so we felt it was worth every cent. Our waiter was good too, seemed out of sight but always seemed to be there at the right moment to refill our glasses and take our plates. We will definately go back here.
Tuesday 3rd:-
Columbia Harbor House @ the MK. A new place for us, but I'd heard a lot about it as a nice Fast Food place and so finally forced myself into trying it out. DBF had a sandwich (can't remember what kind, but he was making suitable 'tastes good' noises) and I had the Clam Chowder bread bowl which I enjoyed. It was nice to have some FF without having it deep fried first and I'll be certain to go back there again sometime without hesitation.
Dinner was at...ummmm...can't remember! Stupid brain's stopped thinking, I'll have to go check my notes and come back to that one
Wednesday 4th:-
An easy day at AK, and a big dinner on the horizon, we ate an early-ish lunch at the Flame Tree BBQ. I love this place and I love the setting in which you can eat. Again, nice to be able to grab some Fast Food without it being a burger or fries. I had the ribs, and DBF had the Chicken Sandwich - delish...and I was happy because I love corn on the cob
We also used the meal deal so we had ice creams later on for dessert.
Later on, we had a 5pm PS for Boma's at the AKL. Yup! Another first for us
Needless to say this place is pretty legendary so I thought it about time I dragged myself there to try it out
After checking out the desserts first, I, unlike someone else I could mention who had a Zebra Dome as her appetiser (not mentioning any names...DopeyGirl!) on the basis that she didn't want to risk not having room for one after dinner, headed for the main buffet. The Squash Soup was divine - so creamy, oh boy, I could have had that stuff all night! Another big hit was the Chicken and Coconut Curry/Stew with the peanut rice...yum yum...2nds were required of that stuff
Also nice, but the name alludes me at the moment was the Shepherds Pie type thing but with an eggy topping. I tried a few other things...some of which were ok, and some of which were decidedly odd! But I came away happy and waddling. I'd be happy to hit this place again as it's so nice to hit a buffet with such an interesting selection of food. Trouble is, because the AKL is so tucked out of the way, it means making a special trip just for the restaurant, so unfortunately I can't see it being a frequent haunt.
Thursday 5th:-
Breakfast at Spoodles - we've eaten there for dinner before, but breakkie was a first. I really enjoyed this, even though I only had pancakes and juice as I was still full-up from Boma's the night before! It's a really nice relaxing atmosphere though and there really weren't many people in there at all! The company I was with made 'tastes good' noises about the american breakfast and I think it was called the Mediteranean breakfast. A good place for brekkie on an easy day I think.
In the afternoon we had the latest seating for lunch at Nine Dragons in order to try their 'Taste of China' sampler. All I can say is that it's a great selection of food which is all you can eat family style. The Shrimp and the Sesame Chicken were especially good, but really...I can say that I tried and liked everything that came my way
A great place for your main meal of the day and as it's lunch, it qualifies for the AP discount - bargain! I'll definately do this one again, no doubt about it!
Friday 6th:-
Just a danish for breakfast as today is a busy day foodwise! 1pm is Le Cellier. This was the third time I've eaten there, but by far it was the worst, the service was appallingly slow. I did notice that one of the 'suits' was actually serving plates to the tables so I guess they were understaffed and I will give them a little lee-way, though an explanation would have been nice. I had (naturally) Cheese Soup and the Beef Tips - fortunately the food tasted good still
No dessert as after this I was heading straight over to the GF for a 3.15 PS for the Afternoon Tea (another first). This was really cool! I didn't go for one of the 'package' Teas, as I didn't want sandwiches after my lunch, but I did pig-out with some Cream and Scones and then some Strawberries with Cream, plus some Tea. It really was a lot of fun to do and I recommend it!
Saturday 7th:-
We were at DisneyQuest today so we just had a bite of pizza at the Cheesecake Factory Express which was very good and YUM, the Garlic Rolls were delicious! Well....as long as you like Garlic
We rode a couple of attractions to have a little break and then headed back for dessert. DBF had the Chocolate Brownie Cheesecake, I had the Raspberry Truffle and my friend had the Pumpkin Cheesecake. There was a resounding noise of approval at all of these....total cheesecake heaven
In the evening we were at the 9pm Murder Mystery Dinner at the Grosvenor. This is pretty much a standard, all you can eat buffet with Prime Rib, pasta etc, nothing exceptional, but the entertainment was a lot of fun and so we had ourselves a grand time
Sunday 8th:-
We were at MGM again today with friends and decided on the spur of the moment to go to the Sci-Fi Diner. The atmosphere here is great fun, but I was only so-so about my chicken sandwich, however I didn't hear anyone else complaining about there's so maybe it was just me. I do think though that unless you are actually hungry and have no choice, it might be better to do as other people suggest and just have a dessert or something in order to experience the drive-in experience rather than go for the food.
Then alas, it was home time and we headed off for our flight
I ate my way thru a LOT of this trip, but it was all pretty much positive so I was one happy bunny
