The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.

That seems like sound advice. I can’t seem to figure out a good way to start this trip report, but if I start typing something is bound to happen. This is a trip report that will take you on a trip to San Diego and to Disneyland all the way from exotic North Carolina.

The players on this voyage for those of you that I haven’t had the opportunity to meet, or for those of you that have worked hard to forget who we are after meeting us are as follows:

Mom: She rocks. She’s my best friend and the photo-taker editor in the family. She LOVES photography and is the main reason why we have 50 pictures of the Disneyland sign.
DD: She’s our 6 year old princess wannabee. The wannabee part only applies to being a princess, she is an actual 6 year old.
DS: He’s our family’s resident drummer. (Yes, I chose to buy a 9 year old a drum set. Feel free to question my intelligence) He’s also a blooming coaster enthusiast.
Dad: That’s me. I’m a disdad, and I get to be the family historian for this trip.

Here is the video we made for our kids to let them know we would be taking them on this trip.

I'd say it's been my biggest problem all my life... it's money. It takes a lot of money to make these dreams come true.

While I travel all over the country for work, DW and the kids had never been west of Tennessee. Changing that was a pretty big dream and fortunately we had a bunch of FF miles so we could make this dream come true without a lot of money. We looked at a lot of different options for this trip but ultimately settled on the following Agenda:

Sat Travel to La Jolla
Sunday Explore La Jolla and San Diego
Monday Explore San Diego
Tuesday - Friday DLR
Sat Return home.

I got some pretty good advice from some fellow disdads that 4 days was a good amount of time for DLR and it was pretty spot on.

I've been pretty word heavy and picture light up to this point but that will change soon. ( DW and I took about 3000 pictures over the week) Thanks for bearing with me so far.

Next up: Travel....

Subbing and patiently waiting to read about your trip. We are thinking of going to DL in the next few years so I am trying to start planning.

We are doing DLR and San Diego this summer, so I am looking foward to updates!

Great start - looking forward to hearing about your trip! :)
