We had a couple get married on Castaway Cay on the January 13th cruise. I'm glad the weather cooperated and they had a beautiful day. I met the bride and her god mother in the restroom by Palo that evening. I congratulated her and she shared with me her amazing day!

Both bride and groom had all of their family on the Wonder for their wedding on Castaway Cay. She had a wedding ring custom made for her and was frantic when it had not arrived a couple of days before they were to leave on the cruise. They had to have the ring Fed Ex'ed and it came the day before they left. She said it ended up being quite expensive because they had to rush the order and then send it Fed Ex.

With ring in hand and all the family there, they set out to get married on the island. As I said it was a lovely day and the bride looked beautiful. Tluvs2talk has pictures of her! Everything was perfect. I'm not sure exactly where the ceremony took place on the island but the bride said the ring bearer who was her 7 year old nephew had to walk across a bridge. They were at the point in the ceremony where they were about to exchange rings. he ringbearer carried the ring on the pillow and was crossing the bridge. The pillow tipped forward and the ring fell on the bridge and bounced through a crack and into the ocean. She said everyone gasped and the poor ringbearer started crying. He knew about all the stress involved getting the ring and he felt terrible.

Thru all the shock, noone knew exactly which space the ring had fallen through. Disney came to the rescue and sent divers down. At first they were unsuccessful. On the third try, they found the ring!! They said it was a miracle because of the current and the movement of the sand. The bride was so grateful to Disney for being so helpful and finding the ring.

What an awesome place to be married. I'm so glad the story had a good ending. Best wishes to the newlyweds!

WOW, what a story! :) Don't they know that the ring bearer should never carry the REAL ring? ;) Glad everything worked out okay. Thanks for sharing, Disney Dreamer!

Hi,

What a beautiful and amazing story! I am very glad to hear that they got the ring back from the ocean's grasp. That was a next to impossiable task. Thanks for sharing their story...

I was just wondering if anyone knows any more particulars about the wedding. I know a couple of years ago, Disney said it wasn't possible to get married on the ship or on Castaway Cay. Did the couple arrange this through DCL or bring their own clergy person? It would be really cool if Disney were putting together these packages for people now.

Disney now offers weddings on Castaway Cay and vow renewals on the ship. For information, you should contact Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings. The number I have is 407-828-3400.

I'm glad they found the ring. It was really lucky it didn't go out to sea or get buried in the sand. Sometimes, the ring pillows have a tie down. This one evidently didn't. I'd love to see pictures. What a beautiful place to get married and also a wonderful excuse to return every year on their anniversary.

Best wishes to the bride and groom!
Tina
PS: You think the brides parents had to pay for the entire clan on board?
