A Wedding, a Disneymoon, and drama included free of charge! A Dec 09 TR* UPDATE 8/17!

Hey Disneymoon09 - I saw you stopped over at my TR this am, so I came right over here to catch up. I was a bit remiss in keeping up with TR's before my trip, but I am totally on board now. I absolutely love Disneymoons and I am already addicted to your TR. I love, love, love your wedding pictures and your low key, down to earth approach to your nuptials. It looks like the perfect venue for a wedding. Your dress is so adorable. Ugghhh...can't believe the zipper broke. How frustrating.

Exactly where was your ceremony? I did not recognize the abbreviations and its such a lovely place.

Your meal at Cali Grill sounded fantastic. I can not think of a better place to have your first meal together.

What a fun TR. I'm definitely here till the end!

I officially need to be sent to the Dis hall of shame for this TR. I (as always haha) do have some excuses! We are officially moving ! But we have to be out by may 27th.:scared1: I have been sick with a sinus infection that really threw me for a loop, and we are in one of our busiest months at the hotel. I have been slightly busy. But the TR must go on!

Before I start our day, I will say we officially need a do over. You will see why.

Today was our Epcot day. This was the only day I had scheduled for Epcot so we needed to get there and get things done! I knew we were going to have rain. How much, I was unprepared for. :headache: We woke up to gray skies and a chilly temp. Yesterday had been in the high 70's low 80's. Today was about low 60's with no sun. Big difference! We packed out ponchos and headed to the bus stop!

DSC00773.jpg

Finally we get to see the icon! We had passed by it several times at night, but this was our first day light view! You can see how gray the skies are!
We headed straight for Soarin'. Grabbed fast passes then rode stand-by with a wait of about 20 mins. This was one of our longer waits, but worth it! I had been slightly worried about motion sickness. I love rollar coasters, but motion simulators and I do not get along. I had nothing to fear and we loved the ride. I think I had a huge grin plastered on my face the whole time!

We then headed to living with the land. Only a 5 min wait time! I looked forward to this ride as my dad and I are huge gardeners. I knew I had to have pictures to take back home!
DSC00788.jpg

we took more! We even got to see the pumpkins in the mickey head forms!

During our walk to soarin' it had started to drizzle. When we got out, it was still only a slight drizzle. We decided to walk over and see what Mission: Space was like. Green was 5 mins, Orange was 20. DH pouted a little when I inisisted on green. (remember the motion sickness..:scared:) But relented and we rode green! It was ok, not my favorite ride and not something I would wait much longer then 5-10 mins. for. Green was rough enough for me, but DH grabbed a fastpass to ride orange later.

Test track was next. We decided to ride in the single rider line with about a 5 min. wait. It was awesome! Dh did get in the same car, I was in front he was in back. I liked the ride but I wish there was more of the outside part. I liked it so much and then it was over all too soon. Very cool though. No picture as the cameras did not like the rain and were not working properly. Here are some of us dreaming on the way out...
DSC00823.jpg

DSC00826.jpg

that was in a caddy.

The Chevy rep stopped to talk to us and I prompty replied "My dad works for Ford, and we drive Fords." when asked if we were interested in more info. He looked a little taken aback but I thought it was the right response. Gotta have brand loyalty! :lmao:

At this point I cannot remember if we went to the WS or if DH rode Mission: Space. I think it was MS. I walked thru Mouse Gears (and got lost a few times in there!). It seemed to take DH an awful long time, but it was nice to get out of the rain for a bit. I watied for him under the walkway and was amazed at the number of people buying ice cream. It was cold and raining, not a good time for ice cream people! Finally he came out, looking a little dazed. He told me that I would probably have died on Orange team (see I told ya so!) and that he was a little sick but ok to keep going.

Somewhere in all this time we went to Innovations (both). I had kept a little surprise for DH. He is a volunteer firefighter at home and loves it. He wants to do it full time. I knew he would love the innovations exhibit! Can you tell he did?!
DSC00830.jpg

He even found his patch!
DSC00840.jpg

proudly displaying his hat.
DSC00842.jpg

(sorry for the blur, that was the best out of about 10 pics)

He loved it. We stayed there for about 30 mins taking pics and exploring. He droned on and on about what this truck had that was similar to at home. I checked out mentally and just shook my head a lot :lmao:. We looked at the Segway experience but did not want to wait for it, so we headed back out and went to...

Club Cool! I did not get a Beverly picture! But the face was priceless. We tried all the soda, I did not find one I really liked. We enjoyed looking at all the Coke items and I regret not getting a frozen one!

I believe this was the time we finally headed to WS. The skies really opened up now. Right when we got to England it started to pour and we finally gave in and put our ponchos on. We went in the toy store and that was about it. We discussed out plan for the rest of the day but decided to wait it out and see what happened with the weather. Probably a mistake, but live and learn!

France was next!
DSC00850.jpg

I went with no intention of character hunting. Well we just so happened to walk right into a meet and greet with.....my favorite!
DSC00852.jpg

Belle Made DH get in next after she saw our "just married" buttons.
DSC00854.jpg

This was so fun! Slightly awkward at first, but then I realized "hey this is Disney, who cares if I am talking to a fictional character!" I really want to do more characters next trip!

We wondered over to Morocco and realized we were getting pretty hungary. We wanted food and a dry place to sit for a bit. Good thing we found the cafe, because right after we ordered ( I had the 3 sliders, no idea what DH got haha) the skies really opened for about 10 mins and it was pouring! People really wanted in now, but most of the tables were full of diners. I did not care for my meal much. I liked the meats but not the sides. DH loved it all, but he is more adventurous with food then me. Oh well, I am glad we tried it and had somewhere dry to sit!

We moved on to explore a bit and found this...
DSC00862.jpg

We were the last people to get a picture when them and their handler didn't seem to be too pleased when we got in line. Aladin and Jasmine were very nice however, and made us feel very welcome. They were a great couple!

Japan was next. We hit up the store and I bought a hello Kitty night gown (it still has the tags on it haha). DH was interested in the pick a pearl and I secretely hoped he would surprise me with one. No dice lol. I could have looked in that store for hours!

We decided to move along. We did hit every country, but did not explore due to the weather. I did not realize until we got back all the things we missed. No street performers, we missed all the Santas, and I'm sure we missed more character opportunities. Perfect excuse to go back! :cool1:

Italy. Very cool. This store had the resuable tote I wanted with all the countries on it. This was the first store I saw it in!
DSC00868.jpg

China: You can tell I am really sick of the weather in this photo lol.
DSC00873.jpg

"hurry up and take it so we can move on!"

We just walked on by Mexico. We were done with the weather at this point.
DSC00884.jpg

We made our way back to the front of the park. We did ride Spaceship earth since the wait was only about 5 mins, as long as it took the walk thru the line really! It was super fun. We laughed at our futures and sent the home.

We had a ADR at Teppan Edo later and wanted to get back to the hotel to change and rest for a few minutes. We had about 2 hours probably at the hotel. DH napped, I read my book and watched some TV. We changed into some dry clothes and headed to the bus for dinner.

No pictures of tonite, but when we entered Epcot, it was still raining. We made the long walk back to Teppan and checked in. We only waited about 10mins and were seated. This meal was one I was not looking forward to and only booked it for DH who loves chinese/japanese food. Well I was pleasently surprised by the whole experience! We loved our table mates! One couple was celebrating an anniversary and the husband surprised his wife with a ring! Very sweet. This man was also a firefighter and he and DH exchanged a lot of information and loved chatting. The family we were with were celebrating birthdays and they were great. We had a great table, great chef, and amazing food! This was officially our favorite meal of the entire trip! We even tried to get an ADR for another day of the trip but could not get it. This is now a must do for every trip!

When we left the rain had stopped! We walked around WS a little. I went and bought the tote i wanted so badly (and let me say it has not been used yet! :confused3) and loved being able to see somethings while the rain had left. We decided to skip illuminations as we would get another opportunity later on, and walked to the exit. By the time we got to the fountain it had started up again, and it was a long soggy walk to the bus. We cought the next bus and were on our way back to the resort. It was a good day, but we hated the rain and missed a lot of opportunities. Oh well, like I said, next time!

Up next: DHS, and will this rain EVER stop?

What a fun TR. I'm definitely here till the end!

Thanks Mary Ellen! I have also been behind on all TR's, including my own! Life is getting in the way! Thank you, our wedding was wonderful. It was at Give Kids the World Village, where I had visited and stayed on my Wish Trip back in 1996. It was amazing and is such a magical place all it's own. I love my dress, and was heartbroken about the zipper, but we made it work. We had no choice!:lmao:

I really enjoyed Cali Grill. I will order something else next time, but the atmosphere cannot be beat!

I'm glad you are here, I really enjoy your TR's as well, and would love to do a Dismeet sometime if it could ever be worked out!

Natalie

I'm another one that can really let the rain get me down.
I might as well just stay in the resort when it starts up....

We really should have headed back to the resort or gone somewhere else once we hit the WS. We had done future world, so I'm sure we could have fit WS in some other time. We missed a lot and I regret just buzzing by all the counties.

Oh My....All that rain! blah! I can honestly say I have never had a raining day like that at Disney. I have had plenty of really hot days, but never an entire rain day. I would have been sick of it, too. Still, you guys really made the rounds and got to all the countries.

I have always wanted to do the pick a pearl. I love seeing the pretty pearls that people pick out. You need a do-over just for that. Maybe for your anniversary....hint...hint!

I loved Teppan Edo last June. It was excellent. Glad you DH found a fellow volunteer fire fighter. I am technically considered a fire fighter in Delaware because I belong to a fire company marching band. I love the firehouse on main street, too. It's such a cool little building and one of these days I want to bring my fire company patch there.

Anyway - I hope the rain disappears really soon.

I always feel like I didn't spend enough time in Epcot. There are still so many things I want to do and see there. I do not do round and round or motion rides. I have yet to even get brave enough to do the green side of MS. DH loves MS. Danielle loves doing "Where's the Fire" we even took the Liberty Mutual Firefighter picture and emailed it back to home. We also loved Teppan Edo and it was a first for us too. It will be repeated again in the future.

I hope your day at DHS was better.

I know. I would have loved to have had the time to just spend time at the resort or DTD during rain, but we didnt have the time! It really did feel like a waste though and by the time we got to italy we were just done and walking right on by.

The pick a pearl was so cool. I really do want to do it next time! Teppan was so much fun and the food was amazing. Definitely a must do! DH had so much fun talking to the couple. We both did! DH and the gentleman actually exchanged info and fire patches. Very cool!

We missed a lot. We went to Epcot a few times, but never was able to do much. I was very bummed about all the rain. Really threw a wrench in our plans! Motion simulators are out for me. I refuse to get sick in vacation from a ride i could have chosen not to try! Mmmm Teppan....

I left out some info from the last update. I was updating from work and didn't have any way to upload more pictures. Here they are along with some more details!

We left Teppan and it was finally (slightly) dry! Can you tell from the look on my face that I was happy about this?
DSC00898.jpg

This next picture needs a set up. DH was walking behind me taking pictures. He yelled for me and I jumped up and spun around. He is catching me mid-spin :lmao:
DSC00890.jpg

I think it is in front of the America pavilion and I had just bought my reusable bag. (which I still have no used :rotfl2:)

We took the opportunity to have a Grand Marnier slushie. We only got one to share (mistake!) because I really dont like the taste of alcohol and usually dont drink much. Well...we should have gotten 2 because I could have easily finished one by myself! In fact, DH called his dad to check on their drive home, and I helped myself to more the half of the drink while he was on the phone. He gave me a "***?!" look when he noticed me sucking it down as quick as I could :lmao:. It was amazing. I want to try the Grey Goose next time.

Saturday Morning:
DHS had EMH. This was our first time doing an EMH park. We got there about 10-20 mins after opening. THe morning was not raining (yet) but still pretty cool.
DSC00914.jpg

DSC00913.jpg

Waiting on the bus. I have no idea what my face is doing in the first one. this was the first time we took our mugs with us, and I loved it. I was able to drink my coffee/hot chocolate combo and didn't have to burn my mouth trying to hurry up!

We got to the park and the CM were serious! They were yelling and holdiing up KTTW cards letting everyone know that was the only way to get in. We breezed by her and were in!
DSC00915.jpg

I bought a wedding pin at the pin shop.

We walked straight back to Pixar place to get TSM FPs. I got super annoyed with DH because he wanted to take pics along the way. I knew we needed to get there soon because it would be mobbed.
DSC00917.jpg

DSC00919.jpg

DSC00923.jpg

actually after looking TSM looks really tame compared to pics I have seen on other TR's.

We grabbed our FPs (return time after 11 yikes!, decided not to ride stand by ( I wish we would have) and headed back towards RnRC and ToT.
DSC00939.jpg

I rode RnRC single rider line and waited only about 5-10 mins. Let me say this was the only roller coaster I have ever ridden with the "launch" start. It was fun, but that early in the morning, on an empty stomach, it might have been a mistake. It left me slightly motion sick. But it was fun and I would ride again! My picture was super embarassing so we high-tailed it out of the dump shop and back down the street towards the hat. Then I had a revelation. I might as well go back and ride Tot. There was only a 10 min wait time, and I think they were actually sending people thru the fast pass line insted of regular stand-by.

I rode this alone as well. I was behind a group of highschool kids who were beyond annoying. I tired to stay away from them because I look young and didn't want to be grouped with them. Everyone in line with them was irritated. I was really tempted to tell the Cm that I wasn't with them and feel free to break us up! :lmao: thankfully by the time we boarded the elevators we were split up.

This ride exceeded my expectations! Probably one of my favorite of the entire trip! Amazing, and I wish I would have gotten a FP to ride again!

DSC00948.jpg

I'm looking a little worse for the wear after those 2 rides back to back lol

After this we headed back to the main area and checked on times for Indiana jones. DH really wanted to see this and Lights, Motor Action! The rain at this point was little more then a drizzle.

I told DH that if he wanted to ride Star tours he could ride alone. My stomach had enough for a bit after the rides I did, and I didnt want to chance it with a motion simulator. He rode and I explored a gift shop full of items I was clueless about. I have never seen star wars! He said it was fun, very outdated, but fun. We headed out of Start tours and I made DH take the required picture...
DSC00962.jpg

We headed out at this point to see what else we could get into. The rain was little more then a drizzle, and besides, I was pretty sure I forgot to pack the ponchos! Dh wanted to do the Muppets. We headed there and their was only about a 5 min wait for the next show. It was cute. Not my cup of tea, but still fun. I don't really remember the actual muppets show, I remember muppet babies more.

When we got out of muppets the weather had changed drastically! It was no longer raining, but the wind was almost unbearable! Going under the larger "underpasses" was like a wind tunnel. It was also chilly, maybe only in the 50's or low 60's with no sun.

I wanted DH to do the animation studios experience where you learn to draw a character since DH is a really good artist. Well I think we missed the actual drawing one since all we saw was the Mushu video. BUT we did hit character jackpot on the way out!
DSC00976.jpg

DSC00984.jpg

Tigger, pooh, donald, the UP characters and several others were there as well. We didnt have time to wait on any excpet for Minnie. She was around a corner by herself with no line, so we jumped in. It was a really fun exchange. She wanted to see my ring, and made a big deal over it. I told her she would have to get on Mickey to get her one!

Indiana Jones was starting at 1130 so we headed back to get seats for the show. Man they really pack people in like sardines for this one! It was a very cool show, but due to a lot of the set being wet, they said they were not going to do a lot of the normal stunts. Still cool and DH loved it.

After Indiana jones it was time to TSM! SOOOO FUN! We still had about a 20 min fast pass wait, but it was worth it! DH beat me, but he always will at target games. We both agreed it was fun, but we wouldnt wait the posted 120 min stand by wait time!

I told DH if we didnt eat I was officially going to pass out. We debated on a few places and decided on back lot express. We both got the DBL cheeseburgers and really liked them. Thankfully we found a great seat and were able to enjoy our lunch and take a rest after a busy morning. We both got cheesecake for dessert. I took mine with me.

We high-tailed it over for the Lights Motor Action! show at 1pm. We were seated pretty high up, but they ended up being pretty great seats!

DSC01025.jpg

DSC01028.jpg

Getting ready to eat my cheesecake during the show. I am smirking because there were CM's behind me and I was sure they were going to yell at me for eating. they didnt, and my dessert was wonderful!

After the show the sun had finally come out! It had also gotten warmer and the wind seemed to have died down. I think we rode the GMR, got the gangster scene. It was fun, not something I made a priority, but it only had a 5 min wait time.

We looked thru the shops some and decided to wait on the parade that was about to start. The street back to RnRC was mobbed and we didnt want to fight our way back.
DSC01055.jpg

That CM there was very rude and serious about her job. She was yelling at people to stay behind the masking tape line. She could have been a lot friendlier!

We watched for a few mins and decided to make our way out of the park. We had accomplished all we wanted to do and had ADR at Raglan road to get ready for!

Up Next: DTD and Raglan road!

Wow you got a lot done in a short amount of time!

I don't do RNC anymore because it messes with my equilibrium. But I love ToT!:lovestruc:lovestruc I've been know to ride it alone too.

You're making me feel old since you don't remember the Muppets! I grew up with their show and still love them.

Indy and LMA must be a guy thing, I could skip them by DH can't.

We got a lot done because all we did was run from one thing to the next! DH will never ride ToT. But I will def. ride it at least 2 x next time. soo fun!

I remember the muppet baby cartoon but thats about it. Indy was more of a guy thing to me, I love the indy movies, but the stunt show was boring to me. I enjoyed LMA, but probably wont be back to see it. Once was enough, but if they change it I would be willing to see it.

We've only done the Indiana Jones show once, and LMA twice, with several trips in between. (As I write this response, I'm watching a WDW commercial, LOL). On our trip in June, we're going to make seeing the shows a bit more of a priority - those two at DHS are the only two we've ever seen... well, those & Flights of Wonder at AK.

FireStation1945-600x424.jpg

You knew I would find a picture of your marching band!

I had not doubt! I think I like the one you found last year better. I should go dig that up out of my old TR. I think its got a drum majorette in a short tutu!

Awesome update. You guys got some great pics at HS. I really like the one of the two of you in front of the hat. I am so glad the rain is finally stopping and you are able to see the outside shows. You really are getting a lot done at HS.Nice!

What a bummer about all the rain. Thankfully it cleared up for you on the afternoon of DHS. I was starting to worry! Also, it seems like your stress levels went way down after the family went home and it was just you and DH. Trust me - I know how that feels! :goodvibes

I can't believe you got the gangster scene on TGMR. I've never seen it, or if I did, I was a little girl and barely remember. I actually like it a whole lot more than I anticipated I would - but I do think they need to modernize it a bit to show movies that the next generation will recognize.

Anyways - glad you're having fun and can't wait to read more! :hippie:

I would see the Indy show again just to see if a "no rain" day made the stunts any better. LMA only if they changed it. I think they problem is that they only show a couple times a day, and a lot of our day was planned around the start times for these shows. I always felt rushed. I would be willing to let DH see these by himself next time :rolleyes1

Now that we have been there at least have some things under our belt, I would like to make more time for shows. We didnt do any AK shows, no HS shows (Beauty and beast or little mermaid), nothing at Epcot either. I want at least see some next time!

Thank you! DH was quite camera obsessed, but thats ok. I usually totally forget I even have a camera until it is too late! That is probably why we only have a few pics of DH by himself! I love som of our together pics. We didnt pre-order the photopass cd, and I wish we would have. We were really pinching our pennies before and after the trip, so we decided to pass. Next time I will budget for it. Yes, DH was nervous all morning because we were sure they were not going to do LMA. We never did go back to HS so we needed to get it done!

The rain was a huge bummer! My stress level completely dropped once friday morning came and I knew all family were leaving. Actually a thought on that..I think my stress level may have been better they the family stayed on property and had tickets. I think I was constantly worried about them driving to see us or come get us. I just wish they were able to experience some of the things we did, everyone may have had a better time!

TGMR was fun! I had low expectations but it was cool. I agree on modernizing it. There were some movies I wasn't sure about. We are having a blast...friday tested us with all the rain, but now it should be smooooth sailing!
