A Wedding, a Disneymoon, and drama included free of charge! A Dec 09 TR* UPDATE 8/17!

Once we found our room we went ahead and unpacked a little, changed our clothes and decided that since we were both starving, we needed to get something to eat. Now. Since our room was actually closer to ASMu resort, we headed down to their bus stop. Since we were eating at a resort, I knew we had to catch a park bus. One for DHS had just arrived so we grabbed it and had our first bus ride of the trip!

This is what we saw when we pulled up!

We had a decision to make. Catch another bus, or take the boat. My vote was for the boat. It was a beautiful evening. We decided to head for the boat dock. Our luck struck and we of course just missed the boat that was loading. No big deal, like I said, it was a really nice night, and it was awesome to be able to take in some of the sights. Finally about 10 mins later another boat came along and we boarded. After a great ride with a really funny captain, we arrived at:

It took us a few minutes to find Beaches and Cream, but once we did, we got right in. We had to sit at the counter, but we were so hungry we really didn't care! Our food was so good. We both got cheeseburgers, DH got a double, and fries. We had another super wonderful waitress, which thankfully was a trend on this trip. After scarfing our cheeseburgers, we decided we couldnt come to a soda shop without dessert. So after much deliberation, we decided on...
DSC00546.jpg

Mine is the chocolate icecream with peanut butter topping. A combo I have fell in love with since I started working at an ice cream stand. DH got the brownie sundae. We did not finish these. They were huge! We did get to see a Kitchen Sink being made. It was awesome to be there while the lights went off and the loud speaker announced the challenge. Everyone in the restaurant clapped and yelled. It was a really neat experience!
This was OOP. I believe we paid $50. Steep, but it was good food and a great experience.

After dinner DH called his family and told them we were done with dinner and ready to meet. Wellllll about 10 calls later DH finally convinced them where DTD was, and NO THEY DID NOT need a park ticket to go.

This was where I made my mistake. We hopped back on the boat and took it to EPCOT. I had a massive brain fart and thought we could just grab a bus at the entrance like we did at DHS. When we pulled up to EPCOT I realized that I goofed. We were at the International Gateway. Crap. DH was asking where we were and why couldnt we just take a bus. DH family was calling every 5 mins. wondering where we were and why we were not at DTD yet. UGH. We decided to enter EPCOT and practically RUN to the entrance to find a bus. Our first park experience was ruined. I was way irritated. I didnt get to stop and see anything. DH got some pictures since EPCOT is awesome at night. Here is one of me, you can tell im running ahead and just turned to pose haha.

FINALLY we get to the entrance, find the bus stops, grab a bus to CBR and hope we get to DTD. We stoped at CBR, and I hear the people at the bus stop ask the driver if a DTD bus is coming because they have been waiting awhile. I hear him say there is one right behind him. Thats all I needed to hear, we jumped up and told the driver to let us out. I'm not so sure I was nearly as nice as I should have been. After about 30 mins of travel, we finally were on our way to DTD.

We asked DH's dad where they were at DTD, Marketplace or pleasure Island. They said Marketplace. So thats where we get off. Well then DH dad calls to say they are under the big balloon. Characters in Flight. At the other end of the freaking place. So once again, we are running through another area, trying to find them. Once we found them, they were just standing around talking and acted like they were super put out they had to wait on us. I took a deep breath and slapped a smile on my face. We walked from one end of DTD to the other, and only stopped in WoD.
DSC00560.jpg

Do they look like they have been waiting awhile? They'll live. :lmao:

DSC00564.jpg

Can you tell I'm slightly miffed?

This is the moment I almost lost it. I did not pay almost $2000 to run around after people and not get to see anything. The first night of our honeymoon, and we are already having to babysit family. Reason #1 I wanted to elope and not tell anyone. :headache:

We stayed with them for maybe an hour (all that for an HOUR?!?), they drove us back to the hotel, and we agreed that they would pick us up in the morning for the wedding. I may or may not have stomped up the stairs in a tantrum. :rolleyes1

We still had a great first night. It was awesome to see a few of the different resorts. We really loved Beach Club, Storm along Bay just looked as awesome as awesome gets. I need to save my pennies for that one! Yes it was a frustrating night, but we still made the best of it. :goodvibes

Next up: Wedding day, and a perfect ending. Oh yea, and more drama, because you know you love it!

Ugh, I'm sorry you had so much drama... sounds like my Christmas trip! I can't believe you didn't just catch at DTD bus from Beach Club, though! :rotfl: That sounds like a mistake I would've made if I'd been at Disney the night before my wedding! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I know. I don't know what I was thinking. Like I said, I am completely new to the disney transportation system. I was under the impression that you could only get to DTD from a park like the resorts? Thats the only logical explanation I can think of. :confused3 That decision still haunts me :lmao:

I hate that you had all that drama and running around on the 1st night of your trip - but I'm glad you were able to make the best of the situation! Can't wait for wedding day! My husband and I avoided all the drama from my family by going to the JP and the DW for our honeymoon! Family drama is never fun - but I'm hoping it will only get better now!

Oh yea, and more drama, because you know you love it!

Darn right we love it! But only because we didn't have to LIVE it!

I love your trip report, and I absolutely cannot wait to hear all about your wedding. Do you have lots and lots of pictures?

P.S. -- Re. a comment on one of your earlier posts: of course you'd take the OSU football tickets over a wedding shower. Wouldn't everyone? :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Doesn't drama and family go hand in hand? My DS wants to get married in Disney. I told him to start saving all his coins and the ones he finds on the ground because I don't have it. Loving the update.

Yes, it was a really frustrating night. We did try to make the best of it, and I'm not even completely sure that it even occured to DH that I was upset. Although I still think about all the things we could have got done that night had we not had to meet up with them to do nothing.

Thank you! And yes, be very thankful you dont have to live with my drama! I think the TR will be a great place for me to vent all of my bitter honeymoon feelings :rotfl:

Heck yea I would have taken the OSU tickets. GOOO BUCKS!

Unfortunately yes, which is why I wanted to elope in the first place. BUT extinuating circumstances didn't really make that possible. Yes, tell him to start saving now! We actually wanted to get married on property, but could not afford the $5000 minimum wedding package. We were very lucky to be able to use GKTW village. Thanks for the kind words!

Good morning all! Hopefully work will be slow today and I can get an update done, I brought my picture CD and am armed with a ton of wedding photos!

We woke up around 730 (I am guessing). I got my shower, fixed my hair and dressed in my "mrs ......" tank top my sister had made me for my bridal shower. DH eventually rolled out of bed and into the shower, then we headed down to get some breakfast. This was our first experience with the food court, as well as with the DDP. I believe I got bacon, biscuits and gravy. Then I went to the check out, where I picked up a refillable mug. This is where the trouble started. DH was in front of me paying and the cashier was not so friendly. I did not get a drink because I was going to use my mug for coffee/hot chocolate. Well she inisisted that I had to get a drink. I did NOT want a drink, I tried to tell her. She glared at me and DH told me to go back and just grab a water. So I did.

Once I got back to the cashier she was all smiles and friendly. This woman is serious about her job. When we got to out table DH told me while I was getting the water that he told her it was our wedding day, and that seemed to cheer her up. Geesh, if only I would have known that in the first place!:scared1:

We had only a few minutes to spare after breakfast, so we ran back to our room and picked up a few last minute items before DH's parents came to pick us up. I believe DH forgot something back in the room (for the life of me I cannot remember what) and his mom said "Aw he is just nervous." I did not have the heart to tell her "No, he is just forgetful and irresponsible." :lmao:

Getting back to Kissimmee was interesting. DFIL was following his GPS. For some reason his GPS was not working so well on Disney porperty. Insted of doing the logical thing and then looking at road signs, he contined to follow the GPS as if his life depended on it. It probably took us an extra 10 minutes out of the way getting back to their hotel. Ohhh the Hotel. It was terrible. When we pulled up I felt horrible for booking my parents to stay there. It was in a terrible neighborhood, with an abandoned building beside and behind it. I was sure my parents would be murdered by the end of vacation. :headache: Their only complaint was the neighborhood it was in, but they said it had the most comfortable bed they have ever had in a hotel, and that was all they cared about. :confused3

I rode with my mom and dad to GKTW about 20mins ahead of DH and his family. We were ready and they were not. Shocker. It was ok, we needed to speak to the pastor anyway. We waited on them to arrive, then took a tour around GKTW property. Which I for some reason have no pictures of :confused3

It is gorgeous, and I was in tears the whole time. So much has changed in 13 years. The little ice cream caboose is now gone and in it's place is a whole Ice cream shop! There is a huge addition to the resort, including a playground that if i werent getting married that day, I would have sooooo be playing on. The water park is amazing, and I was in awe the whole time. I think some of our group got bored on the tour, they did not know what this place meant to our family, and to me. It made me very angry, they should have appreciated the opportunity to see this place, considering people only see it if a family memeber stays, and no one wants to be in that situation.

Soon our tour was over and we headed back to the main building for me to change. This is where things got hairy. I had had my dress fixed about a month before the wedding because I had broke the zipper. I bought a new zipper and told the seamstress to put a new, stronger one in because the one was a dinky dress zipper. Well she didn't, she just chose to fix the current zipper insted. Me knowing nothing about sewing, said that this was fine. BIG MISTAKE.

My mom was zipping me in my dress when I felt it break. She looked up at me in the mirror and I thought she was going to lose it. She was sure it was her fault, and promised she was really careful. I had a very minor hissy fit, and then said, nope, we will make this work if it kills me. Mom went out and asked if they had any saftey pins (considering I didnt think ahead to bring any). They did. 6. We can make it work. By this time, my dad had knocked to see if we were alright and we explained the situation. DMIL comes in to help. By now DMIL, and my mom are up under my dress trying to pin the zipper from the inside out. I had to apologize to them for wearing a thong that day. Poor choice. :lmao:

Finally, it was fixed enough for me to put my veil on...

DH eventually came to help to help after I popped one the pins.

You can see my dad sitting and waiting on us...

Then FINALLY.

We were ready!

I love that DBIL wore shorts and flip flops! His grandma yelled at him, but this is how comfortable I wanted people to be at the wedding, no stuffy black tie event for us! :goodvibes

IMG_5765.jpg

the whole fam-damily. All the others are Jeremys family, just my mom and dad came. Note to self.....;)

Here are some random pictures wer took around the village
DSC00332.jpg

we joke about this one because in Rudolph, the elf (Hermie?) wants to be a dentist, well I am a dental hygienist, so we joke about it. I frequently do his voice and say "I wanna be a dentist!". This elf looked like him. I had to have a picture.

DSC00312.jpg

Inside the chapel. We felt bad for not using it, but it was too gorgeous out to be inside.

DSC00306-1.jpg

Random person in background. We met lots of people going by, trying to see what was going on!

After our kiss at the end of the ceremony, we didnt realize it, but we had an audience. All the workers in the ice cream shop across the walkway had come out to watch, and they all cheered. It is one of my favorite memories since it was so unexpected.

DSC00335.jpg

Beautiful garden, there were tons of butterflies. And Bees. I'm allergic. We made this photo session short! :lmao:

Up Next: Where do we decide on for lunch....and how does it go? What drama happens next.....Stay Tuned!

Beautiful Pictures and Congratulations on the wedding! (I know it was a few months ago, but still...)

Congratulations! I can't wait to hear more. I have friends doing a fundraiser for GKTW right now. (The Muddy Buddy teams if you listen to the DIS Unplugged podcast)

I love everything about your wedding -- the locale, the spirit, the weather, your dress!

And is it my imagination, or do the beads on your dress occasionally form a Hidden Mickey?

Anyway, thanks for the update -- keep it coming!

Thank you!

GKTW is an amazing organization. My dream is to move down to FL and volunteer there full time. If only....

Thank you, this was exactly what I wanted, minus the dress drama of course haha! Hmm there may be an occasional hidden mickey! :cool2:

Love the pictures, :cool1: what a beautiful day you had! My nephew just got married and they got married outside on the beach. Girls in t length dresses and flip flops, with guys in short sleeve shirts and shorts with flip flops. Our friend's three year old daughter was supposed to leave for Disney with Make a Wish, but had to postpone it because she got placed back in the hospital :sad1:. So they are planning for May.
