Hi All - I must say, I was a bit skeptical about going to Disneyland after many trips to "the World" - but it has won me over!
They are definitely different experiences - I don't really know if I can really compare them. First - the castle. I was not disappointed in the Castle at all. In fact, I found it just as photogenic as "the big" castle in Florida.
After so many years at the World, riding new rides - and experiencing some of the same rides in a new way - was truly awesome! I rode the Pirates ride 3 times - it really is so much better at Disneyland! And though it has some not so enthusastic riders (the 8 or 9 year old girl who said "this is for babies"), I LOVED the Little Mermaid ride. In fact, I rode it 4 times. I really couldn't get enough.
Also, one of the neatest things for a fan of historical Disney stuff is the fact that this truly is Walt's park. I actually teared up looking at the bench where Walt sat and dreamed up Disneyland - what a wonderful thing for a Disney fan to be able to see!
Finally, one of my favorite things - you can walk everywhere! I have never been a fan of WDW buses. I stayed at the Stovall's and was able to walk everywhere. Also, park hopping is just so much easier - we usually never bother at WDW. The accessibility of this park would make it perfect for a 3 or 4 day "getaway," and I feel as if we could cover everything I would want to see.
I'll save my opinions on Magic Morning and my experience when the annual passholders returned for another post - because I want this to remain a gushy, kumbaya thread
