Hi All - I must say, I was a bit skeptical about going to Disneyland after many trips to "the World" - but it has won me over!

They are definitely different experiences - I don't really know if I can really compare them. First - the castle. I was not disappointed in the Castle at all. In fact, I found it just as photogenic as "the big" castle in Florida.

After so many years at the World, riding new rides - and experiencing some of the same rides in a new way - was truly awesome! I rode the Pirates ride 3 times - it really is so much better at Disneyland! And though it has some not so enthusastic riders (the 8 or 9 year old girl who said "this is for babies"), I LOVED the Little Mermaid ride. In fact, I rode it 4 times. I really couldn't get enough.

Also, one of the neatest things for a fan of historical Disney stuff is the fact that this truly is Walt's park. I actually teared up looking at the bench where Walt sat and dreamed up Disneyland - what a wonderful thing for a Disney fan to be able to see!

Finally, one of my favorite things - you can walk everywhere! I have never been a fan of WDW buses. I stayed at the Stovall's and was able to walk everywhere. Also, park hopping is just so much easier - we usually never bother at WDW. The accessibility of this park would make it perfect for a 3 or 4 day "getaway," and I feel as if we could cover everything I would want to see.

I'll save my opinions on Magic Morning and my experience when the annual passholders returned for another post - because I want this to remain a gushy, kumbaya thread

Glad you enjoyed Walt's park. :wizard: Doubly glad that you appreciated Sleeping Beauty Castle!

I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to my most favorite place on earth :goodvibes We're considering Stovall's for our Thanksgiving visit!

I have to ask where you saw the bench? Was it at Disneyland? I ask because we were just at the Walt Disney Museum in SF and saw the bench there or so I thought:confused3

Hi Kelly! Did you get to go back and see WOC a second time? Thanks for your post! :goodvibes

Thanks for the post. I enjoy all of the things that you enjoy..... for all of the same reasons. :hippie:

:lmao:. That's funny.....& wise. :)

But....I'm looking forward to reading about your experience with MM & with the "Return of the AP throng". Many of us are big fans of MM, but i promise we won't throw rocks at you if you post your experience. ;) .:rotfl:.

Thanks again for posting.

:)

Now that I've seen both castles, I can honestly tell you I feel DL's castle is much better. You can't even get near to MK's castle, they got that stupid showing running all the time. And even if you could get near it, you can't go through it. What's the point?

I felt exactly the same way after my visit earlier this month!!!

I'm planning a quick getaway sometime in late 2012 to head back to the Land!

Thanks for the great pictures! Now another new thing on my to do list!
See the bench where Walt sat! :cool1:

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! We, too, were WDW vets, a little skeptical of DL. But living so much closer to CA, we had to give it a try. Yeah, that resulted in becoming AP holders! I prefer DL now, with the exception of missing Epcot.

If memory serves the bench is roped off. I seem to remember the bench is on loan to DL from some other entity.

My thoughts exactly - I love EPCOT and also really like AK, but the thing I loved about Disneyland was that there was so many attractions in a much more walkable area.

Hydroguy - thanks for all your tip threads, and it was great to get to meet you in person! I was not able to make it back to WOC, but I really hope to get back to DL sometime in the next two years.

I just love both WDW and DL so much I will never understand why so many people choose sides! :lovestruc

Awwwww, threads like this make me wish I was there now!:goodvibes
Oh wait, I will be in less than a week!!!!!
