A WDW banking question...

I work at a small local bank and we will deposit payroll checks with immediate availability. I would suggest you find out how much you bank allows you to withdrawal per business day. At my bank we allow $1000.00 in cash or Debit Card purchases combined. One of the problems I find is that people don't realize that Saturday and Sunday aren't business days so you would only be able to utilize $1000.00 a weekend. Another tip is to be careful because if the machine malfunctions and takes your card in error you will be without money so make sure you have a backup in case something like that happens. Hope this helps.:)

Thanks, everyone! I guess I am just a little nervous about the whole thing. I just want every thing right since this is my first trip.. ;)

Do you have any credit cards? Use them for the day to day purchases and when you get home, send in a payment.

Using a debit card and saying it is a credit card (no PIN given) will work to make the purchase but will not work to address the problem you asked about. The money is still taken from your checking account immediately.

Some debit cards give reward points or airline miles only when used like credit cards.

She says she doesnt own any credit cards.

If you are staying at a Disney Resort you are able to cash a personal check up to $100 at the front desk every day. There are no fees.

Wow I had no idea you guys had such rediculous banking rules in the USA. My bank, TD Canada Trust, allows me direct access to any cheque, even if I deposit it at an ATM. Literally that same transaction have access to the total value of the cheque. Also I have no limit on single day withdrawls or transactions. I can literally empty an ATM of its cash if theres anough in my account to do so. I have often used the ATMs at my resort at WDW and withdrew in excess of $400 several times. Maybe you guys should look into seeing if a Canadian bank has a branch near you in the USA. I know my bank is there as TD Bank North and there are others there such as RBC.

I would definitely link your Visa Check Card with your room key when you check in!
You may also wanna think about maybe bringing some cash or travelers checks with you as a backup form of cash. You can either keep this in your room safe or give it to the front desk upon check in to be applied to your room charge.
I never used to have a credit card to travel with. Cash/Travelers Checks always worked well for us. :thumbsup2

Much the same as in Canada.. US Banks will give customers with good credit.. faster access to funds than usual.

TD Canada Trust has several 'levels' of access. The baseline is something like the first 300$ of any ATM deposit available immediately. The top line is some ridiculous number like the first 10,000$ of any ATM deposit is available immediately.

In the United States .. it's much the same. You can ask your bank to allow access to a certain amount of your ATM or teller check deposits. If your credit is good enough and you've been with the bank long enough, they will usually approve this.

The main difference is that TD Canada Trust will usually make available the full amount any instrument drawn on a Canadian institution presented at the teller window; regardless of the customers credit standing.

US Banks will usually not do this unless your credit is very good and/or you've requested this level of service.

Thanks for the info, I wasn't aware. I know I have good credit but wasn't aware that it was allowing me this service as I have never specifically asked for it and have had it as far back as late high school / university. I've always had complete access to funds mind you I never deposited and then tried to withdraw over 10,000 so maybe you're right on that too lol.

Unfortunately there are just to many fraudsters out there hacking into merchants databases and stealing card numbers there has to be a daily withdrawal limit. :scared:
