The noise is so penetrating (meant to be heard over the noise of other machinery, etc.) that it is banned in my city during certain hours of the night. I don't think it at all unreasonable for Disney to do something about it.
At 2am the assumption should be that every guest in a room exposed to the dock is being disturbed by the noise and that a good portion of them are being awakened by it.
I perfectly understand Sarivers' reasoning for not reporting the problem. Getting worked up over things you can't control during a vacation is a terrible feeling. The liklihood that something be done about the noise based on one phone call is nil. However, if every guest who is disturbed by the noise complains about it, and among that group, those who are so inclined insist on being moved, it's eventually going to occur to someone somewhere at WDW that something has got to be done. I reckon that's how we got our ordinance.
Each person has to make up her own mind whether to get involved or get on with your life. And either choice is a good one.
As for me, thanks for the warning. When we get there, I'm going to make sure we aren't on the loading dock side of the building.

I will write the location down and request it. Quiet is important to us. Last year at Sports we had a nice location in the Touchdown building on the outside but near the end. It was quiet but close to the car and the food court. I am hopeful to get as nice a location this Nov. The year before we were at Sports and placed in Touchdown overlooking the field, it was too noisey for us and we asked to be moved to the back of the building. Although the guests on the field were not doing anything wrong it is a noisy play place! Thanks again!
