This is for the non car rental guests out there:

I've been following some threads here on the DIS regarding where to get digital camera photos transfered to CD. Quite a few were saying to go to Walgreens for $4 rather than using Disney which costs $12

In my opinon for those who do not have a car it will cost the same if not more to go to a Disney location. $4 for the CD and cab fare may cost more than getting it done at Disney.

Just my 2 cents.

Many stay off property so this would be good for them. Others may choose to take public transit. The closest Walgreens I know of is about a 15 mimute bus trip away and costs $1.25 each way. It is near Old Town on bus route #56.

I was just there last week. I stayed off site, and we drove our own car down. We stayed at the Sherton Safari Hotel right off of SR 535. (about 1/2 a block from the downtown disney hotel's.). About 1 mile down the road past the downtown disney hotels is a walgreens. I don't know what walgreens your talking about, but this is the closest one that I know of. You can either print out the pictures or get them on a CD, or both. We did both, and the pictures turned out great!!

Cokegal 19; I have a quick question. I just got a digital camera and have enjoyed going to a local Walgreens for printing. The first time took only 10 min, second time took over an hour. (went back home, etc). Being this walgreens must be hecka busy what with dealing with photos for all the tourists, how long did it take you? I guess you can turn in as many CD requests but just wait until last day to have them all ready for you.
Do you remember how late they stay open? I figure leave the park late and drop by Walgreens?
thanks!

I just wanted to let everyone know that if you take movie clips on your digital camera you may not be able to download them at a Walgreens. We tried and luckily realized it didn't work before we deleted the card. So we ended up going down the street to a Kinko's (a little bit more expensive but worth it) and they were able to download all our movie clips and photos on one CD. I would have been really upset if we lost the movies of Spectromagic.

May 21- May 28 (Best Vacation Ever!!!!!)

Hermosa,

Yes, it was pretty busy at that Walgreens. They told me it would take 2 hours to develop, and I had about 30 pictures there.

I took the rest of the pictures on my card (about 150 of them!) and developed them at the local store here (Jewel-Osco.) That only took about 30 min.

So that just goes to show how busy they are! So if you can wait till you get home, do that. If not just develop a few to spare space....

Thanks. I will check on that store you mentioned. Get address, etc. I researched some Walgreens and I figure, we can just drive about 4 miles from off-site property in morning....drop off card, ask for just a few photos but get all transferred to CD....and empty the card for next day. Then, at the end of the vacation, last day, just go to store and pick up allll the photos/cd's. That sounds like a plan. I love organizing my plan of actions.....heh heh......
thanks!!!:wave: :earsgirl: :wave:

Cannot seem to locate that store (Jewel-Osco) in the yellow pages (tried Orlando and Kissimee as the city).
darn.

I don't think there is a Jewel-Osco. I think it's only like northern states. Just like we don't have Windixie here in Wisconsin, either.

Have a great trip! Sounds like you have a good plan with your pictures!

Sorry, CokeGal19, I totally did NOT see where you indicated that this store is LOCAL !! to where you live. what a dope I am.

okay, I will get back on track and READ more accurately.........augh.:p

I am one of the previous posters recommending Walgreens! One of my 256mb cards crashed in the middle of MGM, so this was the best route for me. There were 2 main Walgreens that I used, one near Gaylord Palms, within 5 minutes of POP. And, the other near Crossroads at DTD, which seemed to have their digital machine on at all times. Other Walgreens that aren't as busy, close them at night, which was a pain in the popo.

Most of the time, I would download the card for a cd, and only print off a few photos to send to my Grandmother during our trip. Once downloaded, I wouldn't pick the cd up until the next day. I had no interest in waiting an hour, or even 10 minutes to have them developed.

The biggest thing that impressed me was the quality of the photos at Walgreens! The photos were 10x better than the ones I normally have processed at my local Super Walmart, or Sam;s Club! I even developed some of the same ones after my trip at Walmart, and they couldn't even compare! No more digital developing at Walmart for me! I hear there is a Walgreens an hour from me, and I will definitely be looking for it!

BTW... it seems that there photos were .29 each, or if you developed 50+ photos, the price was .20 each. I would highly recommend that option to those of you that have time to edit and print them while you are there. The quality is great!

HTH. :sunny:

Thnks for imput.....quick question. Since this will be new for me.
If I do as you did; which is download to a CD, print a few and take CD home to print all the photos............at what point can I take out red eye, and stuff. Does that machine at Walgreens do that there? I hope so........just never stood there and studyied closely.............
let me know............thx

We stayed at the Sheraton Vistana Resort on Route 535 in Lake Buena Vista. The Kinko's was in a shopping center right down the street from one of the park entrances. Both times I was there I was able to wait about 15 minutes and I had about 15 movies clips (the whole Spectromagic parade) and at least 100 photos downloaded on 1 CD. I believe it cost around $14.00, but when you need to save valuable photos I think its worth it.

Can't wait to go back to see Mickey!!!

hermosa11... Yes, there machine does have the editing features. I didn't do any of it while I was there, since I was only printing a few. When you get the cd, you can put it in your computer, or the machine where you get your photos processed, and still be able to edit them. IMHO...I wouldn't waste precious vacation time, to do my photo editing!

Have a great time! ::yes::

I JUST figured out how to edit. !!!!:bounce:
I will be just wanting to get rid of any red eye before putting photos on a CD. And since I don't plan on having tons of photos with people in them (us) , I won't be needing to spend too much time. But I know now! I love when I learn something new. hee hee
I am soooooooooooooooo glad for these threads. I have learned just too dang much already.
I just cannot wait to go!!!! Can you tell?
thx,
