A Voyage of Firsts! The WONDERful Journey North: LA-Vancouver-Alaska, 4/27-5/10 2011

Ok a question for our Canadian friends what to put on the must do list for Vancouver?

Not sure....Ken and Shannon will let us know...or Kaylee.

Or cuzzin Mike will let us know...he lives in Seattle but worked in Vancouver.

Speaking of cuz's...I saw on facebook that Donna is going to Napa and Somona and San Fran with Frank and another couple. They're drinking wine all week. Lucky girl. I asked her to let me know which one she likes the most. We can do it with a DISer group on the San Fran overnight in 2011.:thumbsup2

Donna is my first cousin that I grew up with. She was my birthday present when I turned 11. All I wanted was a girl and my Aunt had her on my birthday and she grew up around the corner. We're the only girls in our generation. Donna has the only girl, Julie, in the next generation. There's a lot of boys in my family. Me, Donna and Julie all love dance and me and Donna love wine too....she was my maid of honor and she got me soooooooo sick on champagne during John's bachelor party....but that's another story. We're very close. She's a nurse on Long Island.

not a lot of time, but just wanted to let you know, if you booked the LA-Repo online on the morning of Sept 28th, you're reservation may be messed up.

There was a computer glitch and it was only charging $200 instead of $250 per person. So we got our reservation confirmation that we had paid our deposit in full, but now online it shows that we still owe some of the deposit. I went looking for the problem, because somebody posted about it in a thread.

Our deposits would have been lost tomorrow. But I've talked to Disney, and was told they've fixed ours, but its still not showing up correctly online. So I'll be phoning again tonight if its not fixed to make sure its all okay.

Shannon, you are taking this job very seriously, I'll suggest you get a bonus at the end of the work period :thumbsup2

I'll go check ours right now. Thanks for the heads up. I have to see because we booked ours on the 21st. I'll let you know.

Get on the ship to go to Alaska.

Otherwise, have no idea, that's why we are going there this weekend.

Anyone have any info they want us to check out?

Speak now, we leave at the crack of dawn tomorrow.

Have a good time!

Granville island is nice to check out. There's a little brewery, there's some cute little artisan type places.

Capilano suspension bridge is a nice tourist attraction.

Robson street is known for shopping (it doesn't thrill me).

Stanley park is gorgeous, see some big old trees, see some totem poles, go to the aquarium.

Hi Kathe! How did your daughter like the cruise??? :goodvibes

Hi Karen! Sara loved the cruise, of course! She wants to join me on this one too! Actually, just for the 2nd week, but she doesn't think she would feel right leaving her hubbie behind again  So...she's got a year and a half to try to talk him in to joining us :cool1:

Did you have a great time at wdw with your daughter?

Packing is going to be a bit of a challenge for this trip what with weight restrictions and all.

Clothing for cooler temperatures tends to be bulkier and take up more space.

I am planning on packing less, and budgeting for laundry. Of course I won't be the one doing the laundry, I plan to let them do it :thumbsup2

I love the website!!! And I want this one...

I'm sure the room steward would let you use their Henry... Or you can get the bags that you expel the air from yourself - no sucking required... :cool2:

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

And now I must love you and leave you as I'm off to Paris in a couple of hours and I need to get ready!!! Richard and I are meeting at 7pm in the champagne bar at the St Pancras station - romantic, huh?!! Then we're catching the late train and having dinner onboard... :cloud9:

Anyway, I'll be back on Sunday afternoon so will catch up then...
A bientot...

Sounds wonderful! Have a great time!

That sounds so horrible. Sukie and I however are so lucky. In the amount of time it takes you and Richard to get to Paris, we can get to Detroit. I would must rather stroll the boulevards of scenic Detroit any day over those of Paris.

I was just going to suggest we ask Shannon, as I certainly don't have any idea! Thanks Shannon, you're already on it :thumbsup2

I know I am just dreaming right now...but I would love to turn this into a 3 week vacation :thumbsup2 I would really like to be able to arrive in LA a few days early so I could see some of the sights, and have a day at DL. I would also like to add a couple of days on at the end of the cruise to explore Vancouver! One has to keep dreaming, right?

::yes:: 3 weeks sounds about right. :thumbsup2

Oh that is soooooo cute!!!! There's no pricing though. I'm not going to wear it...I'm just a collector of anything turtle that I don't already have. That would count. It says to contact them if you're interested and that they won't last long. Ian are they less than $50 each or over? I usually don't pay a lot for my turtles. I love them all, but they're cheap! ahhaha.

Hey Nan....did Wilson love his turtles that you brought him back? I love the way they just find me everywhere I go.

The pricing is on the site for each fez, but I think the Hawaiian turtle is a special limited edition of 25. You have to send them an email to get the price. They are typically about $50 or less.

All of their fezzes are handmade and extremely high quality.

I would love to arrive earlier and do some of southern California. Unfortunately for me, Passover falls out before the cruise. It ends the day before I'd have to leave through the cruise, so I would just be able to manage it.

I don't know, I might be able to figure something out over the course of the next 570 days.

That is MY plan too!

My plan/dream (if everything alligns correctly :rotfl:) is to do a little before & a little after. Flying in the 23rd (probably) and home the 13th or 14th.

I've never been to San Diego so thinking of flying in there, doing things there (not sure what), driving up the cost - doing the Queen Mary (not sure about spending the night there, tho) and ending up near the pier (there's a Doubletree w/in 1 mile of the pier & they have free shuttle w/in a 5 mile radius plus an Enterprise car rental on site).

After the cruise I figure I'll look around either Vancouver or Seattle (or a little of both)....costwise it'll more than likely be less $ to fly out of Seattle.

I think I can swing it w/ work but must keep fingers crossed :lmao:

I hate you. I'd love to some sightseeing before the cruise.

Care to join me for the after part?? (you know if it weren't for Passover you'd be invited for the before part)

HOTEL NIGHT BEFORE - as we get closer & if there are enough people that want to stay at that Doubletree I'd be more than happy to employ my TA (me :rotfl2:) to book a group block so that maybe we can get a better rate.

I'm interested in the hotel for the night before. We are flying in on the 26th.

Theoretically, I could fly out the evening of the 24th (Passover will be over at sundown) and do the 25th in DL.

But I KNOW we are going to need a hotel for the night of the 26th.

I'll start a spreadsheet :rotfl: (that dreaded word!)

We'll speak of this more as it gets closer but I could probably go pick you guys up too :goodvibes
