A very strange experience - what would you have done?

Just one very bizarre incident. On our last evening in WDW we ate dinner at Beaches and Cream. When we left I needed to use the ladies' room so I went into the one just down from Beaches and Cream. When I entered there was a woman and her young daughter standing near the sink/mirrors. I came out to wash my hands and the woman is standing there in a spot where if the door from outside opened she would have been in full view. She was standing there wearing NOTHING but a thong. The little girl was wearing only a diaper. I started to wash my hands looking in the opposite direction when I heard her picking up her tote bag and grabbing the toddler's hand to LEAVE!!! NO WAY! My dh, my impressionable ds's 8 and 10, and dd 14 were standing outside waiting. I didn't even dry my hands, I took off out the door and told my family," go, go that way!" Luckily they were further down towards the outside of the Yachtsman and we kept on the path to go back to the Dolphin. They never looked back so I'm glad I didn't say"don't look back" because anyone knows if you tell kids NOT to look at something that they will because they're curious. My dh asked me what was wrong and I started babbling because I was still in a bit of shock that someone would be THAT naked in public. Now in a woman's locker room you might expect that but not walking around the Beach Club at Disney World!! I don't condider myself a prude but heck, it made ME uncomfortable - I wished that *I* hadn't seen it much less if my sons had. It kept going through my mind wondering what happened when she walked out. Guess I'll never know. I'm curious, would you have said anything or what would you have done?

I apologize if I offended anyone. I'm not xenophobic. It wouldn't matter WHERE the woman was from. I was simply giving details of what happened. I'm a writer and I tend to do that. I still found it to be an odd experience. I was just sharing it.

I can't see why you would get flamed. We're talking Disney World here in America- since when is public nudity acceptable or legal? I assume just a thong meant nothing on top.
Hope we dont; run into anyone like that on our trip!

No flames here! I know you were just sharing the story and you are probably curious as I am as to what happened next. Maybe someone will post...bet they will!

We had a similar experience in Hawaii. A group of young buff men (except for one, who was short and probably 350 lbs) stripped on the beach and then put on their speedos.

ROFLMAO! That's hilarious. Of course I don't have boys, but I woud've just had to stick around and see what happened to her. OMG, I can almost see it. Wonder what Art the greeter would've done if she'd walked into the lobby. I bet she would've gotten a double salute from him!:hyper:

So, let me see if I have this straight -- on your way INTO the bathroom, the woman was there (but clad?) and when you exited the toilet area, she was now in only a thong?

Well, I hafta say, I kinda feel sorry for the woman. She's gonna stroll out to SAB, and all those American eyes will be on her, with elbows nudging, and whispers behind hands. WHo knows HOW long it will take for someone with the kahunas (and possibly, foreign language skills) to finally tell her that here in the States, there's laws against that sort of exposure. In the meantime... depending upon her self-esteem level, she's either gonna be thinking, "Dang, I'm hot stuff!" and strut it, or "Man... do I have toilet paper stuck to my foot or spinach in my teeth?" and run to the nearest bathroom to check... (hey, maybe that's what led her to be there when YOU walked in!)

Yes, exactly. I think she wanted to take a dip in SAB. :earseek:

OMG! Definitely no flames here - I also don't have any impressionable children, so I would have definitely followed her until the whole thing played out!!!:earseek: The phrase 'morbid curiosity' comes to mind! LOL!

Jennymouse - :hyper: nice one! :teeth:

I would have had either my husband or myself keep an eye on this woman. That's just too hilarious and you know it would be just a matter of time before she got busted (no pun intended!)

She obviously was not from the States.
lol

This thread needs to be merged with the 'Most Shocking Disney Moments' thread. If you think THIS incident is bad, take a peak at some of the posts on that thread! lol
:earseek:

You did well by steering your children in the opposite direction.
:wave2:

Ok I'm confused:crazy: Was she in a restaurant bathroom? I don't know this area of Disney. If she was wouldn't staff not allow her in?Was she heading to or coming from a pool area and if so isn't that illegal? I'm from Ontario and it is legal to go topless in public, call me crazy put who whats to see that:earseek: :teeth:

This reminds of last summer when I was at the beach with my son, then 9. A group of teenagers walked by with on girl in a tiny thong bikini. I was amazed to see my son staring at her posterior and I admonished him. He turned towards me and said " you know mom, that can't be comfortable." I loved it although I know his response will be different in a few years!:sunny:

Oh my.....I would have been embarrassed too and steered my boys in the other direction as well. Wow. I can *almost* understand a thong and a bikini top, but no top??? Yikes-o-rama.

At the Beach Club there are public restrooms, down the corridor from Beaches and Cream, because of the pool area. That would have been quite the sight, and I am honestly not sure what I would have done, but it would have been hard to keep a straight face.

Wouldn't you think that she would have immediately been stopped by a CM and taken somewhere to be properly clothed?

I guess I would have said, "Wow, there is another first - we've never seen an almost-naked tourist stolling around WDW before!"

My kids are 20 and 23 now, but I guess if I'd had that experience with them when they were young, I would have tried to use it to start a conversation about how differently various cultures view nudity/decency/modesty, etc. I don't think I would have tried to prevent them from looking, personally.

Wouldn't you think that she would have immediately been stopped by a CM and taken somewhere to be properly clothed?
LOL - As many times as we've waited in vain for CMs to ask smokers to extinguish their butts when not in a Smoking area, I wonder how many CMs would be willing to confront that situation!
:earseek:

WOW!!! That's hysterical!

Ya know, I've always wondered. When I travel outside the US, I try to look up info on local customs and such so I don't do something I'm used to doing here, that isn't acceptable in other places. Why don't people from other countries show the same courtesy? I mean, it can't be a secret that in the US, we are just a bit more modest in public?

Who is to say that was a foreigner. Last time I was in Miami, FL. practically everyone was nude on the beach. Trust me I am not a fan on thongs and believe that when at a resort with high volume of kids, put something on to cover up but I wonder if Disney is able to do anything about that at all. I believe there was a case recently in which a Judge made a decission about some people who were protesting in their bras and panties on the street and the Judge stated he was fine with them as long as the vital parts were covered (meaning but cheeks aren't vital parts so I don't think Disney can do anything about someone wearing a thong).

I don't know why anyone would flame you for posting this. I would have been so shocked!

Oh man, I would have been so embarrassed!!! I dont know what I would have done, grabbing your family and heading for the hills was the right idea!! I could just see my DH & DS seeing that!! DS is only 8 but that would be the one part of the trip he would tell when he got back to school. I could just see it. You certainly wont ever forget that trip!!
