A co-worker of mine told me she would love to take her Mother in Law to Disney, since she'd never been there. Her MIL had just completed therapy for her colon cancer and was doing so much better.
I had a special part of my heart for her MIL. She was a single Mom who raised my friend's DH, whose name was Michael. They ADORED each other. I pictured my future in them.
Well, thanks to a special person here on the DIS, I was able to get my friend, Kim, her DH, her 6yo dd and her newly healthy MIL in a beautiful suite at the Dolphin for a week in April. Kim was ecstatic! She wanted to show her MIL Disney for the first time and she finally could! In style!
I was coming down for the same week and got to meet this lovely lady. I found it hard to believe she had ever been sick, much less had a 36 yo son! She was tall and beautiful and soooo happy. We sat and talked for hours about just about everything. She and my Michael got along wonderfully also.
A month after their magical trip, Kim's MIL got ill again.
She died last week.
Kim came to me and thanked me for allowing the family to spend that special week in WDW. Even when she could not speak, if they mentioned that time to her, she would smile.
I'd like to thank everyone and everything here on the DIS who helped me to give this family one last magical trip...
