A Very Chit-Chat Thread

The hallway in our house where the thermostat is in the center of the downstairs so it doesn't give a true assessment of the houses temperature.


And that is why I am awake most of the night.

I'm not sure if ours is accurate either... All I know is it was HOT outside of the front room where we have a pretty good room AC. I'm tempted to get one similar for our bedroom because it gets to yucky in there! Our bedroom unfortunately gets to be the hottest room in the house and of course when I am trying to sleep in the afternoon before work it is just gross in there!!

Our room is the hottest but ironically the room right below us is the coolest. It is the master bedroom I prefer it but we had no privacy in there. I will take the heat upstairs over no privacy.

When you live in a household of 7 people privacy is a luxury. Especially someone like my mom who always saying "I'm just being nosy" as if that makes it okay.

We have 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Our house is pretty big. I am thrilled it is in the 60's outside and it is supposed to get down to the 50's tonight so I am thrilled.

Hey peeps! So about a week ago I spilled coffee all over my laptop.

I tried to salvage it (tipped it gently to drain, cool blow dryer, let it rest 24 hours, etc) but nope, it was a goner. It was an old HP laptop running Windows Vista that I hated So not worth fixing. I ended up getting an Acer Aspire, it came yesterday afternoon. It's nothing fancy but it got really good reviews for what I wanted (internet, word processing, banking) and the price was right So far really happy it with it

Sounds like how my old Dell died!! Mine took a water bath after my dog spilled water all over it. It never booted back up

I ended up with an HP which I like the way it works but I now HATE HP! I won't buy one again that is for sure! Customer Service is awful

When I purchased it I bought an extended IN_HOME warranty plan. I have had to SHIP it in for repair 3 times because they don't fix THOSE issues in your house The 2nd time I sent it in they didn't fix the problems which resulted in it going in for the 3rd time. It is under warranty for almost 2 more years... after that I hope I have the money for a MAC

That doesn't sound like a very good warranty to me. I'd like to get a Mac desktop eventually. Dillon doesn't think they are worth the price though. I've been listening to him so far, as he does know his computers, but eventually I'll talk him into one, lol.

It is under warranty for almost 2 more years... after that I hope I have the money for a MAC

DH wanted to do that - just go get a macbook. But honestly we don't have the probably minimum $700 for one of those right now. I just needed something quick, mostly because I do all our banking and basic home stuff from a laptop, and the iPhone, while totally awesome, doesn't totally replace a laptop I'm with you, I'd like to save up and switch to a mac eventually.

Yeah... I do a lot on my phone but I am completely lost without my laptop. I keep a spreadsheet of which bills get paid with each paycheck and without being able to see that bills are late or I pay the wrong ones... I NEED a laptop to keep sane... plus its WAY to hard to post much on the DIS without a real computer... the iPhone can do quick posts but anything long is too tedious! And I can't live without the DIS! lol.

Morning everyone......my head is throbbing so bad!!! Probably didn't help that I started my day calling utilities to set up payments so we didn't have something shut off.....ugh!!! Mike's check goes in the bank after midnight & by 9am this morning it's gone........so hating to live like this!!!

Tania, sorry about your laptop....but glad you got something to replace it!!

Got to go clean my mom's house in a bit & then karaoke tonight.....I so need to take a couple hrs break......can't wait!!
