I hate to post a separate thread for each individual question, so I hope you don't mind this smorgasboard of questions...:rotfl:

1. At the Table serive restaurants can kids who are older and have to pay the adult price, can they order off the kids menu?

2. What time does Ariell's Grotto serve breakfast until? Latest seating?

3. Can you order the Monte Christo without swiss cheese, or substitute a different cheese?

4. Best strategy to get waterside dining at Blue Bayoo?

5. I saw a pick of free birthay desert for the Blue Bayou, do they still do that? Does it have to be exactly on her day? Do other restaurants do this too? I know at WDW they had cupcakes for those celebrating birthdays, and we had them throughout the week.

6. What do you like better - lunch or dinner at Blue Bayoo?

I only know the answer to number 6. :)

Lunch is better because:
it is cheaper.
it is awesome to step from hot, bright day outside, to a nice cool evening with crickets and banjo music inside. The effect is not so dramatic at night.

Actually, it might also be better because maybe you would have a better chance of getting water seating if you were the first PS time.

Sorry, I can't help you with everything, but I will answer the two that I know. :goodvibes

My kids are older and routinely order off the kids menu. It has never been a problem. The only time my kids have had to pay the adult prices is when we have purchased a buffet meal. If they order off the kids menu at a sit down meal, we are charged just the cost of their food choice.

What has always worked for us is to get the first lunch priority seating time. Then we arrive about 15 minutes earlier and when we check in, I am sure to ask them for a waterside table. It has worked everytime for the past few years. We just did it a couple of months ago. :thumbsup2

We prefer lunch. It is a nice break, espeically on a hot day.
We don't have to walk too far to eat lunch and can stay in the park. Usually we have started the day really early and the kids are hungry by 11:30.

Hope that helps. I am sure there are others with different perspectives.

We had waterside seating for Blue Bayou a few weeks ago, we had the earliest seating 11:30 and got there at 11:15 and asked for waterside and were seated right at 11:30.

I've not been there for dinner, only lunch. We ate dinner the following day at Cafe Orleans and the evening atmoshere is perfect if you can get an outdoor table.

I always order the Monte Cristo as is, not sure of the other cheese. Why mess w/ perfection?!

make sure to make resvation for bb if you want it or they make be full. Make it for 11:30 get there at 11:15 an you tell them you would really like waterside seating

Only character meals charge by the age. You may go to Goofy's Kitchen and eat the kiddie food or order a deluxe omelet or both even if you pay the adult price. Table service will allow you to order just a salad, just dessert, split plates, share plates, or order kiddie and toddler meals. WDW and DLR do not charge at table service and counter service by the age.

3. Can you order the Monte Christo without swiss cheese, or substitute a different cheese?
Yes you may ask them to hold the cheese. If they have another type of cheese available you may try to substitute but there are no guarantees. The only time an eatery will not hold something is if the item is premade like hot dogs on the boardwalk or premade parfaits.

4. Best strategy to get waterside dining at Blue Bayoo?
Patience and politeness combined with luck. Also go when there are fewer guests.

5. I saw a pick of free birthay desert for the Blue Bayou, do they still do that? Does it have to be exactly on her day? Do other restaurants do this too? I know at WDW they had cupcakes for those celebrating birthdays, and we had them throughout the week.
Some restaurants do give guests who have a birthday button a free dessert. It varies from restaurant to restaurant and you do not get to pick what you get. Make sure you tell the server that it it her birthday. Buttons do get hidden by hair and clothes at times.

I have only eaten there one time recently and have celiac and food allergies so my report will not help. Lunch is cheaper at some restaurants but not always. Few DLR restaurants have a separate lunch and dinner menu. Some have breakfast and lunch menus but few have a higher priced dinner unlike WDW.

Biergartern buffet costs $9 more for dinner.

Le Cellier also raises prices at dinner.

Maybe at the DLR finer hotel dining establishment you will find the lunch and dinner menus. Basically there is no difference between lunch and dinner except that those places that offer a lunch and dinner menu offer a bit more food at dinner.

I prefer lunch as I want a full stomach and then meander the parks until ready for a wild ride. Take in something gentle like the bobsleds or Soarin after a heavy lunch.

WOW awesome info here !! my question...... what is the kids menu at the blu byou? I do not think my little grand son will eat whats on the adult menu .
