A Vacation From Kuwait... The TR!

We noticed the Mickey Mouse with the moving mouth & eyes during the show they do in front of the castle. I'm not sure when they changed him?? :confused3

I know what you mean about Splash Mountain... I'm a total chicken and cover myself in a poncho! I'm always afraid of my hair getting soaking wet & my glasses too. But I noticed that the water cannons weren't shooting that far too.

Sounds like a great MK morning - the crowds were on your side!

Great update! I'm with you about the TS restaurants in MK...I used to love LTT for the character interaction but now that it's gone I would much rather do a meal at one of the neighbouring resorts!

LOVE that you thought of us on the Peoplemover and I love the picture! I will tell Jasmine as soon as she gets up that she has to read your update...but I won't tell her why;)

Hope you have a great weekend my friend!

Hi! It's Jasmine and this is my first post ever! That's awesome that you thought of us on the Peoplemover and even better that you took a picture of your feet too! I will be following your TR, my mom showed me how to subscribe:woohoo:

Glad you like it!! Aidan thought I was nuts!:lmao:

:welcome: So glad to have you following along! I got such a kick out of the picture you took on the peoplemover on your last trip! As soon as we sat down I thought of it. It's so true that a lot of folks take pictures of their feet on it!:rotfl:

Instead of starting a new thread to keep track of I decided to turn this one into a combined TR and PTR for our fall trip. So here we go!!

Who: Me (obviously), DS (Aidan), DM (Gail, or as I call her, Mom) and DF (Scott)

When:September 29th to Oct 2nd for Aidan and Mom and the 29th to the 6th For me and Scott.

Where: The Poly!!! :woohoo: Got a great Bounce back offer from my last trip!

Why: Well other than being in love with WDW the reason for the trip is the Wine and Dine Half Marathon.

I didn't want to start this PTR too early because I was afraid I would run out things to post about but since it's combined with my TR I think It will be ok.:goodvibes

Yesterday marked the 180 day window for ADRs so I made sure I was logged on and ready to go by 6am EST, which is 1pm here in Kuwait. That meant trying to get them done at work with a boss that doesn't want us "surfing the internet" while on duty even if our work is done and it's slow :headache: Not to mention he is a Disney hater!:confused3 So I had to be sneaky... but I got it done and got all the times I wanted too! Here's the list as it stands right now (I say right now because I have been known to make changes up until days before we leave).

9/29 - Chefs de France 6pm (arrival day)

9/30 - The Wave 5:30pm

10/1 - Mama Melrose 3:30pm

10/2 - Yak & Yeti (TS) 2pm

10/3 - Sci Fi 11:30am, Narcoossee's 7pm

10/4 - Rose and Crown 12pm, Spirit of Aloha 8pm

10/5 - Flying Fish Cafe 7pm

10/6 - Kona Cafe 9:45am (departure day)

That's what I have for now. I will fight the urge to make changes but may have to depending on the dates of MNSSHP. :woohoo:

The hair is the biggest reason I hate getting wet! If my hair gets wet my bangs do this weird wave thing. I have to blow dry them straight in the morning so wet hair in the beginning of the day can be devastating!!!:rotfl2: I know it seems dramatic but having my picture taken after that is a nightmare come true!

I'm the same way - I have curly hair but dry it straight. Add water and... well, you know! :scared1:

Great reservation picks! I'm glad you were able to "sneak" and get everything you wanted! Trying to do a trip with my college roommates is a nightmare as they don't really get the whole "plan ahead" thing. One moment they tell me to plan whatever they want and the next it's they don't want to visit more than two parks the whole trip :scared1:They'[re driving me crazy:rolleyes:

Oh and it's great that you and your DF get to stay those extra days just the two of you! Especially at the Poly!

p.s. I turned my March PTR into a TR if you want to read about the 5k, I posted pics the other day...

There are a a lot of restaurants on my current list that I have never tried so I'm trying my hardest to just stick with what I have now but it's so tempting to just go back to places I know I love! :confused3 And I forgot to leave a day open to do the Food and Wine Festival booths. I'm sure I'll end making some changes.

Good luck with your planning! Sounds like a big hassle!:flower3:

I had planned a couple of dinners for just Aidan and I to spend some time together just the two of us. The first one was at the Wave, Aidan's favorite restaurant. We ate here in 2009 and while I loved the decor and atmosphere I didn't love the entree I chose but I decided to give it another try and I am so glad I did!Our ADR was for 6pm. We checked in at 5:45 and took a seat in the lounge. I ordered a Magical Star Cocktail (my favorite Disney drink) and Aidan got a Shirley Temple. I wish I had gotten a picture of the lounge it's so comfortable and I love the lighting. I could seriously hang out in there for a couple hours! Maybe when Scott an I go sans kids!:thumbsup2 We only got to enjoy it for about 10 minutes before our buzzer went off and we got a great little two top towards the center of the restaurant so we weren't right on top of others dining next to us.

Here's Aidan enjoying the bread basket!

And me just enjoying time with my silly son.:goodvibes

We both ordered the Beef Tenderloin but replaced the potato onion gratin with sweet mashed potatoes. It was Delicious!

For desert I got the no sugar added and Aidan got decadent flavors.

It was the best meal we had all week and I can't wait to go back!

I have to get back to work now but I'll finish day two up later!

How did I miss your TR???? I'm sorry!!!!

CONGRATS on the race! I'm glad to hear you weren't in pain. You look great!!!

That's awesome about the room upgrade. I love your view! I wish we had stayed in AKL once before Zachary turned 3 but alas.... We could stayed in a villa but it's expensive!!!

You posted a pic of my favorite Disney treat - the cream cheese pretzel. It's my must-eat treat for every trip. They don't serve them until 11am which makes me crazy. And I have made my family wait there until 11am so I could get one. :lmao:

So jealous of Wine and Dine! The Jewish holidays are right then and October is already crazy for us. We have Jewish holidays, I have a work conference in Boston, and we decided to do the cruise for my 40th birthday. With buying a house I can't possibly justify the expense. :sad1: (I know it's hard to feel sorry for me when I was in Disney in January, I'm going back in August, Dream cruise in October, Marathon Weekend in January, and Dream cruise in June 2012).

Don't know how I missed the ADR update:confused3 They look great, you have some of my favorites on there:goodvibes

The Wave is one we've never tried. It's funny that you say the magical star cocktail is your favorite Disney beverage...my sister tried one in September and all she talks about is how she can't wait to have one everyday when we go in August. I can't wait to try it.

I love that you set that special time aside for you and Aidan...he sure took a great picture of you! Looks like you're having a blast.:yay:

I couldn't believe we got the upgrade! I just don't normally have that kind of luck. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an upgrade to CL at the Poly in September now! :cloud9: Doubtful though. Just staying there is enough for me!

I daydream about that pretzel.... seriously. :rotfl: My MK touring plan puts us in Tomorrowland around 11 am just so I can get one of these!

I am so excited for the Wine and Dine Half. I am definitely more of a night person so having a race that starts at 10 pm is more appealing than one that starts at 5 am. But I will be doing either the Half in January or the Princess in February. I haven't decided which one yet. You're going to have a great time on the Dream I'm sure.:thumbsup2 Scott and I are considering it for our honeymoon next year.

I can't figure out how to update or change the title of my TR so that you all know when I update it.:confused3

I definitely recommend The Wave. I think about the meal I had there all the time and I can't wait to go back! And the lounge they have is so nice.

I get a Magical Star a few times on each trip. They're a bit pricey but so yummy! And now I have a huge collection of glow cubes!:goodvibes

When I left off Aidan and I were finishing up our dinner at The Wave and on our way back to MK to meet up with my Mom and Caleb. We used the walkway which is way more convenient than the monorail if you ask me. That alone makes me want to stay there someday. We got to MK around 7:30 and met the others in Tomorrowland to use our Fast Passes for Space Mountain from earlier that day. I didn't take any pictures because we were only there for about 45 minutes before I was too tired to keep going but here's a couple my Mom took while we were at dinner.

He look thrilled doesn't he?

For some reason Caleb loves this one. I can't figure out why!

We headed for the buses while the parade was happening so it took us a bit to get out of there but the beauty of leaving the park at that time is the lack of lines at the buses. :thumbsup2
We all went to bed soon after we got back to the room. I had gotten Aidan a roll away to sleep on because he's a nightmare to share a bed with! for the first two nights i had to deal with him taking all the blankets and trying to take my pillow from me in the middle of the night! :rotfl: He has no memory of doing it so I can't get too mad but I needed a bed to myself for the rest of the trip!

Wow the Wave looks great! :thumbsup2 We've never considered eating there but I'll put it on my list for future trips.

I'm glad you got to have some time alone with Aidan. And that you got him his own bed so you could get some sleep. ;)

I think you'll enjoy The Wave. From what I have read on the boards it's improved quite a bit.

I thought a queen sized bed would be big enough to share, even with my squirmy son but he really takes up all the space in any bed he sleeps in! I feel bad for his future wife! :goodvibes The great thing about the Poly is the rooms have a daybed so I won't have to pay that extra $15 per night.
