A Two Short, Too Different Spring Break Trip (Time to Say Goodbye)

Morning!

I enjoyed the pics from Rainforest Cafe. It's great to see Drew in some of them, we usually don't see him.
What a good looking family you have, you should be so proud! They all turned out so well! ;)

I wish we had a RC here, we do have one in Toronto but that's 5 hrs away..... Too far to drive for diner.

Thanks for the safari ride, it's wonderful to see so many beautiful animals. :thumbsup2

Wouldn't we all love to have expensive cameras!! BrooklynnsMommy never told us which one she got as a present from DH.

I got my August hours last night, soo excitting! :yay:

Have a Tantalizing Thursday!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

He comes and goes. He's out of town a lot taking pictures at different events and going to those bike competitions. He's very rarely here on weekends.

Yeah, I'd say that's too far to go for a meal. Maybe you could go that way on a weekend trip sometime.

What a wonderful dinner out you guys had! My dad called yesterday asking if there was any way I could get up to weekend. Sadly, it's not going to happen and my mom might be spending Mother's Day without any of her kids.

Doug happened to be walking by the computer when the Animal Safari photos came up and he LOVED them. He told me about each animal and when we got to the end, asked for more.

Hope the end of the year stuff goes well. When is your official last day?

Mother's Day with none of her kids. That's no fun at all. I guess it happens when your kids get grown and spread out all over the country. I know Drew will be gone this weekend, so that's why I'm glad we were able to get together the other day.

I'm glad Doug enjoyed the safari pictures. I wish I had remembered the video camera!!!

We get out the 21st, I believe. Truthfully, I never know what day we get out until the last week. There's so much going on, I don't pay attention to last day information, because I'm so focused on paperwork deadline information. I am on top of things this year, though. I turned in two things today! :cool1:

Great pictures MeMom! You always get great shots of those animitronic lions. By the way, what was that cheetah up too? ;)

I'm a friend of the CM that controls them. I give them the heads up that I'm coming through, and wham, they have the lions up and running for me!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about the cheetah.

Drew seems like he has a really funny sense of humor. The faces he is making are hilarious! ;) I love the safari pictures. I think over the years, my appreciation and fascination for animals just increases. There is just so much to take in with them. We bought a membership to the zoo this year and I'm excited we can go back again and again. Congrats on being close to summer break! We have 15 days total left here. The countdown is on!

Drew is a different kind of kid. What he is into, he is really into, and everything else is pretty much non-existent to him. For whatever reason, he was in a goofy mood, so every time I put the camera up, he did something weird.

I think I am amazed at the animals the older I get, too.

I guess I don't think so much about the end of school since I know I'm going to go pretty much straight into summer school. I'm really looking ahead to July when I can do the fun stuff - church camp and Disney World!

Happy News on the July trip!

Annual pass rates were just released yesterday so I called to see if we would be lucky enough to get any discount. We were hoping for anything since two rooms for 9 nights even $10 would have added up. I was on the phone and the CM put me on hold. I figured she was going to come back and say nothing available at POP but she came back and said our 3 weekend nights are now $84 and our other 6 nights are $74!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MeMom said our original price was $124 a night so the savings is HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not exactly sure on the prices for each night, but I do know the AP rate is a good savings. I am quite excited over the new price.

Somehow I missed this TR until now!!! Can't wait to catch up :surfweb:

Well, I'm used to children being tardy at school, so I guess I can handle it here, too. :)

Congratulations on the AWESOME AP rate!! That is a huge bonus. More spending money for Disney. ;)

For some reason many of the smilies and picture buttons aren't coming through on the DIS - little red X's everywhere!

That's my motto - Every dollar is a Disney dollar!
That is the ones that are leftover after the mortgage dollars, grocery dollars, car payment dollars, utility dollars, etc.

Hi MeMom!

I've had my baby!!! Little Toby Angus Jack XXXXX arrived on Tuesday 5 May at 5.43pm UK time weighing 7lbs 6ozs!

I was going to be induced on Wednesday morning but he decided to come on his own and my contractions started at 12.30-midnight on Monday. Labour was hard and painful and we needed a ventouse delivery to help get him out as his cord was stuck around his neck and his heart rate was dropping but he's here and safe and very gorgeous!!!

Will post you a pic very soon xxxxxxxxxx

That little rascal did come on his own! Good for him!
I'm very excited to know you are over the ocean holding your new little guy. We are all anxious to see him as soon as you can share a picture.

I hope you are feeling well. Take it easy and don't overdo. Let people wait on you and pamper you. I'd be glad to send you a casserole (that's what Americans do when someone has a baby), but it might be no good by the time it flew across the sea!

Toby is a Disney name, you know. There's an old Disney movie called Toby Tyler and Ten Weeks in/at/with the Circus, or something to that effect. I saw it when I was younger. I'd love to have a copy of it, actually. I'm sure it would take me back to when I was a little girl to be able to watch it. I also saw Song of the South in the theater. I wish they would release that one.

I love the Rainforest pictures. The closest one to my house is in Orlando! I think the pictures of Drew are funny and remind me of my DD - she always has some kind of goofy face when I take her picture, like this
IMG_0438.jpg

Only she's a ham and tries to get in the pictures even when I'm not expecting it!

Normally Drew prefers being the picture taker, like me. I guess he's forgotten how to act normal in a picture!

You have a cute daughter. Looks like she's a lot of fun!

I really didn't know how many Rainforest restaurants there were in the U.S., but something I saw the other day said they were in 13 states. Some states had more than one.

Congratulations. Welcome Toby! Love the name!

Yep, and did you see, whether she realized it or not, it's a Disney name! :dance3:

Woo hoo! Great savings, Jill and MeMom! That means more souvenir money, right?

Absolutely!

Congrats on the savings! That is so awesome! :thumbsup2

And if it had been you, I'm guessing the savings would have gone for.....

new bags!!! :rotfl:

I forgot to add, Jill, that you got the exact same camera that I got at Christmas. I have been very happy with it so far! I can't wait to try it out at Disney! :thumbsup2

Good. Maybe you can give Jill tips on what settings to use and what works and doesn't work as well so that her pictures turn out great!

Welcome baby Toby!!! I can't wait to see pics of the newest Disney pirate:!

Great deal Jill! :cool1:

One day we'll have to get all these little pirates and princesses together! :thumbsup2

"DIBELS" caught my eye--I'm a substitute teacher and I subbed in a wild and crazy kindergarten class today so the teacher could do DIBELS!

I really enjoy reading your reports!!

DIBELS? You know about DIBELS?!?!?
That's funny.

We use it as a verb.
When I'm finished DIBELing, I can finish report cards.
I have to go DIBEL some more after lunch.

I'm glad you enjoy the reports. I hope you can overlook the griping I do about school, but I bet you can relate to it if you sub a lot.

Yea on the AP rates. I wish we had our end of the year checklist so I could start checking things off. I even think I am moving rooms again, yuck!

Yes, I've heard it used as a verb as well. I actually got to DIBEL when I did a 3rd grade long term, but I understand that they don't let subs do that anymore--the other teachers have to do the testing if a teacher is not there.

I only sub at my son's elementary school, but I keep very busy and I can totally relate to the stresses you face at school. I see the time and energy that a few students can take from the teacher and I know that the other kiddos sometimes suffer because of that. It is so hard on the classroom teachers.

Anyway--keep up the great work--it's teacher appreciation week here--I hope that you feel appreciated!!

Happy Ocho de Mayo and may the nachos be a fun activity tomorrow.

I hope all goes will with your students and the weather is great Monday for Field Day.

Great news on the new rates, it leaves more money for shopping.

BrooklynnsMommy you are a lucky girl. You have a great husband. Very nice camera! I'm a little jealous....:goodvibes

I can't wait to see all the great pics you will take.

WOW! you got a good deal with the AP discount. $$$ :cool1: $$$

Disneyjoo2008 :wizard: CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW BABY BOY!!! WELCOME TOBY, A NEW DISNEY FAN!!! :wizard:

What a fun family dinner. Glad you could have them all there-except John...Very cute pics as always. The safari pics were amazing-just loved them.

I haven't quite figured everything out yet, but I did manage to find the setting for close-ups so I can take pics of food!

Not only am I doing the usual end of the year stuff, but I'm trying to weed out and pack up stuff from the room, too, since I'll be changing to another hall. I've been in this room for about ten years, so in my case, a move is a good chance to clean house.

I wish people really knew how true that statement is!

I don't really care so much about being appreciated as much I want them to value the opportunity they are being given. There are so many people in this world who would love to be able to have an education provided so easily for them, and some of these kids and their parents couldn't care less. It's frustrating sometimes. They aren't even seeing what they are being given, and they're throwing it away.

I think we will have fun.

It is storming right now, so I think changing Field Day was definitely the right decision!

Getting those rates was great!

Jill has loved the new camera so far. She likes the compact ones. Mine and Drew's are bigger in size and in what they do. I don't really know what half the stuff on mine does, though, since I just inherited it when Drew got a better one. I'd probably be better off with a simpler one, and I may use Jill's to take some pictures this summer at times when she is having to deal with Bella and Brooklynn and won't be taking pictures anyway.

What a fun family dinner. Glad you could have them all there-except John...Very cute pics as always. The safari pics were amazing-just loved them.

I have a feeling if I lived around Orlando I would be going over to enjoy a safari pretty often. More than that, I think I would go over to walk the trails to see the animals up close and to get in some walking. I'm going to have to talk to somebody about moving Animal Kingdom closer to my house!

****************************

It's a stormy Friday here at my house.
Since Field Day was postponed, I'm going to take some board games and let them play those for a while after Math this afternoon. They'll enjoy that. And puzzles - they like puzzles, but some of them are pretty inept at doing them. It always amazes me to see an eight year old who still hasn't had experience working with puzzles, but some of these kids have done very few of them in their lives. If you have never seen a third-grader with very little puzzle experience do a puzzle, it would amaze you. Your kids and mine would clearly see that the white piece would go toward the panda's face or belly, but I've seen kids look completely bewildered at what to do with a puzzle. I think that is very telling about what they've been exposed to at home. They are proficient at video games, though, and I would be the one looking bewildered then!

I hope you all have a great end of the week and a wonderful Mother's Day weekend ahead!

I haven't quite figured everything out yet, but I did manage to find the setting for close-ups so I can take pics of food!

Here we go again, writing over the top of each other at 4 something in the morning!

Maybe there should be special Disney cameras. They could be marked on the dial - Wishes, Spectro, food, safari, shows, sunsets, etc. That would be the perfect camera for me!

Since Field Day was postponed

Seems like that does happen a lot around here

I think the kids will love the board games! I hope you have a good day and they aren't to wild since they were thinking and I'm sure wanting to be outside today.

I have one of those except the settings are called - fireworks, cuisine, landscape, night, etc.
;)

Are you getting to be like me and hating all this stormy weather??? I am ready for sunny skies for the next three months (at least)! Have fun playing board games!

We are such early risers, aren't we? :rotfl:

I think the idea of a Disney camera is fantastic! I know I would buy one!

We should start marketing a Disney Survival Kit. Special Camera, Crocs, Lanyards, The Perfect Park Bag.....:rolleyes1

Great animal pictures again Memom. I love the lioness pictures.

I am glad that you got to spend time with all your kids together. And, I love how you turned your mall trip into a mini Disney trip!

Congratulations on your new rates Jill. I love it when the price of Disney trips goes down, because it means you can buy more "stuff".

By the way, I was wondering how Drew's hearing is now. I hope he has made a complete recovery.

Jill....i will have to check out what your new camera is...i have a lot of Best Buy rewards to use up and there is a sale on the Nikon Cool Pix S230 that I am looking at...the commercials for it looked really cool but I have not found reviews on it yet.
Did John look at a lot of different cameras or was it one you already wanted?? I need a smaller one for Disney and my kodak one is nice but very bulky and DH did not want to carry it around at all when we were in Disney last so it sat in the room much of the time...but with a baby and a newphew this time there is no way that camera is sitting in the room!

MeMom can attest to the fact that John is a researcher. If it is an electronic piece of equipment it was researched to death I assure you. I was already looking at that camera and had done basic research myself (translate: I liked it when I played with it in the store, it had the features I wanted, and it was compact). John had me look at the Nikon and a Sony as well when we were out the weekend before Isabella was born, but I preferred the Canon. I actually found all the printouts he had comparing the three cameras when I was cleaning yesterday. You will definitely need a camera that leaves the room on your next trip!

We have one in Minnesota! It's at the Mall of America. We have a Wolfgang Pucks there too...I wish it were a WPE!

We just need an Earl of Sandwich.

And a Casey's.

And the Main Street Bakery.

Oh, and a Columbia Harbor House.

I think a Kona Cafe would be alright too. :goodvibes

Disclaimer: I was told I would not be in this picture which is why I am not paying any attention. I have already chastised MeMom and threatened to start posting more pictures of her if we have another incident like this.

You have been warned, MeMom!!!!!!

Jill I triple dog dare you to follow through on that threat
Or fewer outings with Jill and her camera.

Somehow I don't think that will happen!

A Hidden Kudu!

My camera that I bought before our last Disney trip is a Canon too. I love it. I carry it in my purse all the time so I can take pictures anytime I want!!!

All your Disney Party games are wonderful! It looks like so much fun!
You are so creative. And all the decorations look fantastic!
I've always really enjoyed throwing kids partys!

Glad you had a great Mother's Day dinner at RC!

Congrats on the grade change!

And the AP discount sounds great!

The Girls just look adorable!
Brooklynn looks so grown up next to Bella!
