A tree in my yard is dripping

I thought it was water but since it hasn't rained since yesterday, I'm figuring it's not.

There are also a bunch of flies around one area of the tree.

This is too weird...

The other day, our front Maple was dripping. I thought I was hallucinating!

It wasn't raining, there wasn't a bird perched... , and there weren't any buds to fall.

It was only the branches, so I ruled out sap. Maybe it was after all! Hmm...
