A TiVo question

As I said a few weeks back, all the glowing reports from so many here 'made' me go and get TiVo, and now I see how nice it is. So nice to record, find it, click and you are finished.

My question is this. If I have a 'wish list' thing, for 'Disney', it will find and record anything with 'Disney' in the name or description. But, let's say there are repeats of the same show, as there is in the coming days of Travel Channel's Fan's Guide: Walt Disney World. Will it record only once, or will it record each showing, therefore several of the same?

I know the TiVo experts here know. :)

TIA.

Dan

Hi Dan!

Isn't Tivo great? You can choose whether you want it to record "first run" only, or to include repeats. When you set it to auto record from your wish list, there's an options button where you can select this. (You can do this with wish lists and season passes.) The only problem I've found with selecting "first run" only is that sometimes there are specials that are technically repeats, but I've never seen them before. In that case it wouldn't record.

The other thing I've noticed with my Disney wish list is that it records a lot of things that I wouldn't necessarily want, such as kids shows from the Disney channel. I ended up changing this so Tivo doesn't auto record from this wish list. I go in about once a week to view upcoming programs, and decide what I want it to record.

Happy Tivo-ing! :sunny:

Your wish list does not record shows that you have recorded within the last 28 days. "A Fan's Guide to Disney World" is coming up on mine. Therefore, in the next month it won't record it again. If it shows again after a month it will. If you watched it but did not record it, then it will record it again because Tivo doesn't know you already saw it. Be sure it's set to auto record your wish list. Otherwise it just tells you it's coming up on the menu but doesn't record unless you say to. Try to be specific with your wish list. I personally am not terribly interested in Disneyland or most Disney movies. So, mine is set to auto record anything with "Disney World" in the title. I LOVE my Tivo!

Two great replies already. The DIS rocks!!! :bounce:

I will go do that now, make sure the 'record' option is set for the Wish list, not just 'find'. And the repeat option setting too. Great tips.

And I did already discover to be more specific. I initially put in Disney, that's like doing a Google search on Disney, overload. So I did change to 'Disney World' and 'Disneyland'.

One other quick thought. I also have wish lists set up for "amusement park" and "theme park". These pick up other fun shows that sometimes feature Disney World or Disneyland even if they aren't specifically mentioned!
