Listen my son the CM came back with gobs of cheap liquor, apparently it's the only thing cheaper in California than Texas.You might want to do a liquor store run on your next visit.Apparently taxes are way lower on the stuff in California.Live and learn.

Every time my Sister and her husband come down to SoCal for a trip they go to Total Wine to stock up. They have found the wine in particular to be cheaper and a greater selection.

Also check Costco.
Although it is a membership store, a membership is not needed to purchase alcohol (due to some legal requirement).
