I don't really use mules just because it bogs down my computer too much and is more pain than it's worth for me. I would imagine though that a lot of people still do play the games and quests but the mules simply give them the ability to obtain a larger quantity of something. I wouldn't necessarily say that this takes the fun out of the game for them or that they aren't playing the games.

I see it this way? What fun is it to play the same game over and over and over and over and over and over with the exact same results each time. I will tell you: NONE

Fireworks: I do ok, and can get to 200k most times, but even if I am on path to get 200k, if I play at teh wrong time I get bounced in the 2nd level and get no credits - what that equals is a waste of my time, and that happens about 2/3 of the time.

Pirates: the new key thing is interesting and I like it but previously the credit rate was just too low

Haunted Mansion: my favorite game of the four and I can usually get 80 ghosts in a 3 round game but with people leaving and the non-stop boots and crashes, it really really does not do enough to make it worth my while to play regularly.

Jungle Cruise: 20 credits, why even bother?

and...... I am flabberghasted at the person who started this thread considering the recent comments

Recent comments have told me I must rethink my way of playing and that is exactly what i need to do

I agree, Doc.

Fireworks is time consuming and half the time when I'm doing well I get d/c'd for NO reason.

Pirates is hard to manuever and even then, it doesn't give much in creds.

HM is so hard for me to manuever that it's not wroth my time to even try. Plus any time you're winning, the other players d/c or quit.

JC is not worth the time at all cred wise, though I do enjoy it.

And with all the new stuff coming out SO frequently and being SO expensive, just in like any other game, people create easy cred accounts (mules). I don't think it's laziness....it's what supply and demand on items and prices has created.

I'm not lazy because I don't want to tear my hair out on ghosts or fireworks because of other people or software bugs.

So you and doc are saying you don't enjoy playing the games? Am I the only loves to play for fun?

Disney=Magic=Fun

Although

Dc=Madness

lol

*ponders*

I enjoy quests, though at times, latelye, they've been a bit repetitive.

I'm one of those collector type people, so I enjoy getting items, too. (You know, the ones who on Pokemone have to have one of EVERY SINGLE one?)

I also enjoy seeing/building rooms and putting on costumes.

I like the JC game but it disappoints me with cred value. Fireworks has gotten MORE enjoyable as I've gotten better, but I wouldn't want to play it all day long.

HM I very much dislike. It's just not easy to manuever and having no chance really makes it no fun to play for me.

Pirates... kind of amibivalent.

I am saying that I enjoy playing the games occassionally, but iun order to keep up and get everything, you need to play the games for hours on end. in order to get just enough to afford everything the put out in a normal week, you would need to do the NPCs every day and play at least 8 games of Pirates (and win) or 7 games of fireworks (only because the "240 club" spends the whole day playing and there is no way an average player can even get his normal score - I haveplayed 15 games of fireworks in the past 3 days and have gotten bounced in the 2nd round every time... with 80k+ points each time) or about 7 games of Haunted mansion (because if you win, the other person always quits, or you or they dc)

If I, a very active player feels this way, how do you think the children who only get maybe an hour a day feel? Disney is shooting itself in the foot here, and I know TONS of parents who are disgusted with the way VMK is run. Put out all kinds of special stuff and then ban people for trying to get it. Making the most desirable things impossible to get, host games which you need to literally spend at least an hour to even get into, much less win. My nine year old thinks Disney hates him, and this is a story that I have heard quite often in my travels in networld. They made a game for kids, populated it with adults, and then shut the kids out. They make games like Pirates 2 or Narnia which have exclusive items and say they are trying to twach patience? How is that? By turning the kids into mindless clickmonsters?

Bottom line is that VMK is starting to have the OPPOSITE effect which they desire, instead of making people want to go to Disney Parks, it is causing people to choose to go elsewhere. I have fun in VMK, just not in stupid mindless games which they are forcing us to play over and over again in order to actually DO anything in the game.

That being said: I love the quests, best idea ever.

Yes. VMK was meant to be a fun way of advertising and getting people to the parks.

But, as I can not go to the parks any time in the next few years, because I have a few computer limitations and because things in VMK costs so much, VMK is not always that much fun.

I spend almost all my time in VMK playing games for credits. Yes. They can be fun. The first few times. And if the games work on your computer correctly (they don't on mine).

Does hours and hours and hours and more hours of beating your head against a wall sound like fun to you? It sure doesn't to me.
And sometimes, that's what it feels like I'm doing.

I, like Tailfeather, am a collector. I like to collect everything. Unfortunately, because VMK has decided in their infinite wisdom , to make most desirable items very rare, I have to spend almost all of my time trying to get credits just so I can buy the limited special items in quantities or do those in-game quests multiple times to get those items, to be able to trade later for the more rare items. (Yes, that sentence was too long).
And if you look in my signature, there are still lots of items I have yet to get at all. I'm not greedy. I don't have to have 10 or 12 of everything. I would just like to have 1 or maybe 2 of each and every item.

I am also not lazy. I have made no secret of using mules in the past. I still use them, even though I have not created a new one in a while. I'm too busy now trying to get rid of many of the ones I still have. Forty one (yes, that's 41) total characters is way too many. I only want around 10 characters so I can do quests a few extra times.
I also would not consider a person who has over 100,000 credits on her main character lazy. The other 14 of my core characters also have over 100,000 credits in total. Do you call that lazy?

Before you go around calling people who have used or currently still use mules lazy, I think you need to look to yourself first.

I'm also with mtlhddoc2 about the OP and a previous statement.

The way I see VMK is a huge chat room community with moving avatars that you can change with disney themed backrounds.

Most mulers play all the games once, and any muler who knows the reason for even doing it, gets that firework magic everytime! Last I checked dude, it takes effort (and skill) to collect them.

But reguardless, lets hope this epiphany is one thread closer to that CL title! :thumbsup2

I am also a collector of rooms but that does not require mules

No but items do. I look at the Halloween totals and want to cry. That's SO much just to get even one set of everything. And not being a... gamer-gamer like say, my husband, makes it very tough for me to get credits without wanting to bash my head into the wall.

I agree with Doc... if I were a small child, I'd be crying my eyes out because at least on Pokemon, my game is entirely dependent on ME, not anyone else overvaluing things I wanted to collect.

I got so frustrated one night that he recommended I go try Neopets instead cause it's not as hard to do and get things.

and mind you, even he of the computer science degree, geeky online gamerdom is still working his rear off to help me get the green car.

That said, I'm off to play Lego Star Wars Original Trilogy with him. I'm the muscle, he just doe sthe hard stuff. ;)

Thinking about it, people who do use mules are really lazy. I'm not targeting anyone with this I was just thinking. VMK was made not only to promote disney, but to have fun with classic disney attraction games and to just have fun with it. The games are meant to be played and thinking about it I'm just glad this game is around to realese my daily Disney needs. People useing mules are just not having fun with the amazing games Yavn and his team have created for us. Even though the games do not work half the time I still enjoy them. Last sunday I relaxed and just took a walk down main street while I was listening to my main street audio. I believe it was dragon who pointed out the trash cans and those details just give me the chills. In August 2005 I wanted a way to see Disney from home, then I found VMK.

You are dead wrong. I have a few mules and I have played all the games in VMK and off Vmk thousands of times, even the ones I hate like fireworks.

Well, it's certainly a different opinion than you had yesterday, now isn't it?

"Bring on the mules!" Wasn't it? Must have been some epiphany.

Pot, meet Kettle. All I'm saying.

Exactly! :thumbsup2

His exact words (thanks to milkabum quoting him since he's gone back and edited his post)

Bring out the mules! Do not care about the risk anymore, have a tricky way of not getting caught

I will stick to my low opinion of him for calling people lazy for using mules.

I have three mules. One's a boy that I use whenever there's boys-only things released. The other two are girls, and I use them mostly to get an extra set of whatever quest item is out for people who miss the quest (usually DISers). I trade those items almost immediately after I get them to whoever needs them. I also like playing on those characters once in awhile, but since my computer won't let me run two characters at once, buying stuff on mules is mostly pointless for me other than I like them to have a few things (try to buy at least a few things a month for them to keep). So, I really do just play them for a change and to help others, not to get credits or because I'm "lazy." And I enjoy fireworks very much, but when you're playing it all the time as I have tried to over the last few days, you get sick of it. But if you want whatever is sold at Halloween, you don't have much choice to be game-focused, whether you like it or not.

Unrelated, but as far as this quote goes:
My nine year old thinks Disney hates him, and this is a story that I have heard quite often in my travels in networld.
Good Lord, that makes me want to cry. :sad2: And that's exactly what I've been worried about in the past 6 months or so when I started playing more. If quests that involve Haunted Mansion games with 50 ghost requirements leave ME in tears, I could just imagine how a child feels about that, or the Host events that can be so impossible to get into, or just the insane trade requests of many players. I love the idea of VMK, but at the same time the execution is so wrong in various aspects, and it's not very child-friendly in many ways. It's like it's now more about out-smarting the great players or the hackers/cheaters than it is about making it enjoyable for everyone.

Doc, if you haven't already, please tell your son that Walt wanted all children and adults alike to have fun and enjoy the worlds he created. I still say Walt would've never stood for a lot of the stuff that occurs in the game. And if there's anything I can ever do to make your son's VMK day a little more magical, please let me know.

Well I hate to point something out - you are in the mule crowd if I am not mistaken. You were banned and used a mule to still vmk. So I guess you called yourself lazy. :confused3

Thanks SD, but he does not play VMK much, if at all, any more. toontown is much better for him. So much to do, no scamming, no dictionary dances, no impossible host games, and they build you up properly on the quests. He has eased his stance a little bit so manybe the next vacation we plan, he will want to go to Disney again. This past year, we were all set to go to DisneyWorld in Florida since my mother-in-law has a house in St. Cloud. Well, after disconnecting in a host line 4 times in a row and then having his bedtime arrive. He made this exact statement "Disney hates me, I do not want to go there." - We went to Universal and SeaWorld instead during our stay. I do hope that Yavn understands that THIS is the world he is creating.
