Okay, this may seem like a small thing to most of you, but last night, at dinner my dh and dd and I were discussing our upcoming trip to BWV (first time there!). When dh told me there was no way in *^#* that he was buying another resort mug, I told him that was fine. I am packing the complete coffee filter packs for this trip. "How do you know the coffee maker will take them?" he asked, somewhat snidely. "Oh, I know they will." "So, how did you find out all this info, Miss Smarty pants?" hmmm, I say to myself. "Well, on those dis boards you make fun of, that's how!" You should have seen his face. Priceless. He now understands the importance of you all. So a huge THANK-YOU!!!!!! He's not rolling his eyes so much when he sees me on-line at the Dis boards.

I love it. Great story. Thanks for sharing and make sure you remind him when you are making the coffee.

I've seen my DH with that reaction also. It's priceless, isn't it??

A couple weeks back, DH came home from work all excited to tell me something. He knows I enjoy planning our trips and getting information anywhere I can. So he tells me today at work they were talking about WDW and he has a new website for me to visit -- www.wdwinfo . All I could do was laugh.:teeth: DH knew I was online somewhere but never put two and two together.

My favorite was the morning we were at the AK and the lines were huge and I calmly said to my fiance follow me. He thought I was nuts when I walked into the Rainforest Cafe until he saw the park entrance with only two people passing through. We were in the park in no time. "How did you know that?" he asked. And of course I replied "those stupid boards I am always reading." He still rolls his eyes at times, but I have even caught him on here every now and then.:D

I just love it when DH has a question about WDW and I don't know the answer. I have answered gee, I just don't know. After a few minutes, he says maybe you could find out on the DIS. I know, of course, I can find out the answer here. I just love him making the suggestion that I spend some time on the DIS.

DW has pronounced that she just doesn't want to know.
She just finds the fact that I track several WDW sites Scary :scared: :scared1: :scared: :scratchin But then when a plan falls together nicely (and it's all opaque to her) that's just fine. And the fact that I can squeeze three trips into a use year (with a whopping 305 pts) without borrowing heavily does elicit appreciation from her.

YEp, I know what you mean. I have been harassed snce late 1997 about these boards. My children tease have teased me by making disney sights unable to access on my pc. I had to go out at 10 pm one night to get my son ice cream so he wouold fix the pc problem.

They are now realizing the value of the research I do on Disney boards.

They know where I foung the info on
Meal vouchers
Boat and Bike plan
Path between VWL and FW
Sea turle walks
Disney Outlets
DVC

Just to name a few

:earsgirl:

I'm glad I'm not alone, my DW initially did the rollling of the eye's thing for a while until I was able to prove the value of the DIS countless times during our trips. Now she is even saying " why don't you ask your "board thingy" and see if anyone can help.
I measure success in small steps

Planning is a big part of the fun for me.. I had my family getting on my back because of how much time I spend planning and what a waste of time it was... so I told them on one of the last trips that I would plan for my room and they could do the same for theirs... Well all I can say after that ONE trip, all of them now come to me and ask to include them in our planning and they now support my efforts....LOL

I had a great time on that trip as always thanks to planning, they had no problems enjoying the parks, but had a hard time with dining, for some reason all the rooms were pretty busy ... HAHAHAHA!!! The first day, I wouldn't extend my reservation to include everyone telling them they were on their own.. man talk about complaining over drinks at the bar that first night but my point was made bigtime!

I have told everyone I know about the DIS and I know they all have been looking around from time to time... This is a great place for information and I have made some really good friends here on the DIS!!!

Great story. Thanks for sharing it. Have a grand time :)

I get the same looks and comments from my family (I'm sure we all do) but they also appreciate the knowledge and insight that I can provide from reading and participating in this great place.

An example - On Mother's Day, I had gotten my mother a gift certificate to the SSR Spa which sparked much conversation with the whole family about WDW in general and about our next family trip (Dec 04- Our first visit as DVC Members). They had me answering questions from the quality of the coffee to specialty cruises to what pool has what features and where to get the best steak and everything in between. After this lengthy discussion, they all agreed I should write a book and even named it... "The WDW Insider"... and were amazed and in disbelief when I told them, seriously, compared to most people here, I know very little.

So "Thanks Everyone" for making me look so smart and educated on all that is Disney (not to mention all the cost savings). I truly appreciate the knowledge and advice that is so freely shared here. Have any of you thought of writing or collaborating for a true "WDW Insider" book? The profits could provide some "add on" points and cover AP costs!!!

BostonDisneyKid,

Great story,
In my case I seem to have become a resource for anyone in the office that is planning a trip to WDW, it usually starts with "were going to WDW and i have a few questions, can i buy you a coffee"I don't mind because as most of us I could talk about it for hours.

Sign me up for the book writing team!!

Yes, ain't it funny how the same folks who question your brain due to your Disney "obsession" suddenly want to tap it the next time they plan a trip?!?

My hubby used to get quite perturbed by my time spent on-line. However -- anytime it saves him money or time in the parks, however, he suddenly "sees the light". He's been "illuminated" more times now than I could begin to count.

I have experienced the same things with my wife and co workers. One thing that comes to mind is when my wife questioned why we would need an over-the-door shoe organizer on the cruise. When we got there she realize how valuable it was. Boy, did I look smart. Thanks to the Dis Boards! She doesn't question me anymore(well at least not about Disney). ;)

My co-workers always come to me with questions about Disney even though they wonder how I could want to go every year.

The disboards really help me get the most out of my vacation by saving time and money.
