Here's a little history before the question.

I am opening a custom picture frame store tomorrow, and on Friday I had a ribbon cutting and reception to celebrate the new store. I had many people come, and several of those people came me flowers :flower:, and one an edible arrangement of chocolate covered strawberries :goodvibes

My mom says I should send them a "thank you" card, and I say that I don't need to because I hugged them and said thank you already to their face.

What do you think?
Do I need to send a thank you card when I already thanked them personally?
Or do I still send a "thank you" card?

Yes, you should. In business a TY note is more than just a thank you. It's marketing. I definitely think one is necessary 1) because you value their friendship and 2) because you value their patronage.

If you've already thanked them I don't see the need for a card.

Maybe for business purposes it could be a good idea, but otherwise I feel it's unnecessary.

While I dont think it's "necessary" I do think it would be nice:flower3: . Plus you would just be inadvertently marketing your store that much more. I would think a generic (not personal) thank you note would do the trick. That way it won't take up too much time with the opening of your store. Congratulations on your store!!:goodvibes

I think you could go either way. If it were me, I would send the thank-you, I like to err on the safe side.

Congrats on your new business! I wish you much success!

If you can make the time to sit down and write a few thank you notes that would be great.

They took the time to think of you. They took the time to order/purchase the gift. They came to your opening. The verbal thank you was of course very important too, but I really believe hand-written thank you's are even more important.

Do you have any notecards with your business' name on them? what a great way to say thanks AND get your business' name out there once again. Then they might display the note on their counter/fridge and a neighbor might see the name of your business too. Good karma I think!

And by the way...congrats on your new business. I wish you lots of success!

I believe when a new business opens up and rec'v things of that sort no matter who you say thank you to their faces it is always better to send a thank you note along. I had my own business along time ago and did the same.

good luck with your business and here is to wishing all the best.

Not necessary but since it was a "formal occassion", I would send notes.
If they were friends at your B-Day party BBQ, then I would say no because it was a casual affair.

Yeah, I'd definitely send a thank you note. Even if if's just short and sweet, it's nice to get a thank you card. :thumbsup2

You can never go wrong by sending them! Even when my daughter thanks someone in person for a gift she still follows up with a thank you note.

Congrats on your new endeavor!!

I hope your store does well.

DH owns a custom frame shop....we have all of our WDW pics/posters beautifully framed.
Our Disney family room is beautiful.
I've still got to get him to frame our Chef Mickey's & O'hanas pictures from last month's trip.

I don't own a business, but let me tell you about Friday night... we went to dinner with some friends. They picked up the check. I will be sending a thank you card to them tomorrow to thank them again for their kindness and to tell them that we enjoyed our time with them.

If I owned a business it would be SOP for me to send TYs to anyone who does something nice for me. #1 because I'm already accustommed to doing so, #2 because it's common courtesy, and #3 because it adds a level of personalization that shows that you took the time to write a card and mail it.

I feel the same. I was given a big party by family a few years ago, thanked everyone on the day and still sent them all thank you notes.

Good luck with your new business. :)
