Hi all, I figured I would do a dining review along with my trip report. We were at Disney World from January 12, 2016 to January 26, 2016. Our original trip was planned from the 12th - 23rd, but due to a blizzard at home we ended up stuck in Orlando for 3 extra days.

Our group ranged from just my family of 5 to 16 people. I will admit I did not always get pictures and when I did I never got pictures of anyone's food but my family. We used the dining plan for our first 4 nights, and then we moved off property. We mainly ate at Disney, though I will likely include the one big meal we ate off property.

Anyways here is a picture of my family with Anna and Elsa
intro_photo.jpg

Left to right the main members in this report are:

Dan, my husband. He has a dietary intolerance to meat (land animals), if he eats it he gets sick, so we just refer to it as an allergy. It is not a life style choice, since if he was making a life style choice he would be a meat eater. I also refer to him as attriel most of the time.

Next is me. I am Sarah, I will also answer to tabrizia. I eat most everything but olives.

Olaf is my son Sully or minion 3. He is 4 1/2 and is a decent eater, he is semi adventurous and loves seafood, especially shrimp.

Next to Olaf is my daughter Eloise or minion 2. She is 6 1/2 and is a very adventurous eater, but does not like spicy food. She also likes some basic kid food, but is the child most likely to chose something new and different.

Last is my son Desmond or minion 1. He is 8 1/2. He is not an adventurous eater, he is up to about 2 dozen things he will eat, but at a point I could count the different foods he would eat on one hand. He will now eat more, but in general he has a fairly limited menu of food he'll eat.

Others who will be mentioned in this food report are my parents, both my sisters and their family, my sort of niece and her mom (one of my sister's MIL).

We did a very character focused trip, though we did end up with meals elsewhere. I will post where we ate in general in the next post. That way if I become ambitious I can link the reviews to it too.

Great restaurant list and adorable kids?! Well I can't argue with that. I'm in! :wave2:

Hold onto your hats, keep small children in the vehicle at all time, it is time for our report of T-Rex!

T-Rex
January 12, 2016

After getting settled into our room on our arrival day we decided that everyone was up for an adventure to Disney Springs. I hadn't made an ADR since I didn't want to deal with the chance of weather delaying our flight (haha), or us just not feeling like going anywhere after travelling for most of the day.

We headed out of the room, hopped in the car and drove over to Disney Springs.

eloise_hat.jpg

We arrived at the parking lot with no issues and made our way down to the newly revamped Disney Springs. We realized quickly that there was a lot of walking to do since you can only park on the West Side at the moment. We made our way to T-Rex with the help of a map and since I had the Landry card we were seated within 3 minutes of check in even without a reservation. Walkups were being given an hour wait time or so.

We were seated right inside the front of the restaurant across for the T-Rex.

The kids wasted no time looking at their menus and did attriel and I.
t_menu_des.jpg

Our waiter, Brent was at our table quickly for drink orders. We had agreed to let the kids share one of the giant slushy drinks so they got that, and then Minion 1 and 3 got milk, Minion 2 got apple juice I believe. Attriel ordered a Margarita and I ordered the Apple Cottontini, based on @Elevationist 's dining report. It was good, but I later learned this was a poor choice. If you have the choice always go for the tropical cottontini it is so much better then the apple one, and the apple one was extremely tasty. After taking our drink orders Brent headed off to enter them and we spent some time looking at the menu.

t_icee.jpg

Attriel and I had discussed sharing some appetizers and then getting the chocolate extinction for dessert. The only issue with that is he was not overly impressed with the 2 appetizers he might have been able to eat. We decided to split an order of fish and chips instead, this ended up working great, the fish and chips is huge. Minion 1 wanted the plain cheese pizza and apple slices, Minion 2 wanted a cheese burger and mashed potatoes and Minion 3 wanted corn dogs with apple sauce. When Brent came back with our drinks we put in our orders. Attriel also added the extra shrimp add on to our fish and chips.

The cottontini was awesome.

Once our orders were in the boys with attriel went to explore the restaurant. Minion 1 took my cell phone to take pictures. Here are some of his pictures of T-Rex.

Once the boys got back the food started to appear. The fish and chips and both boys' meals were out quickly. The girl child's meal and the shrimp add on however, did not come.

The shrimp and the girl's meal did not appear. We fed her some of the fish and chips, which worked for the moment. Brent came by shortly after that and said he would check on what was taking so long. A few minutes later he came back to apologize, apparently they had sent our shrimp and the girl's burger out to the wrong table. They quickly made up new orders and the food was out shortly after.
t_burger.jpg

I didn't end up getting a shrimp pictures till they were basically all eaten. They were good.
t_shrimps.jpg

Brent came back shortly there after to check on us and we told him we wanted the Chocolate Extinction. A few minutes later, the manager, Ian came by. He told us that because of the issues with the burger and shrimp they were comping us our dessert. It was a very nice gesture, that we weren't expecting. It was a very minor inconvenience, but we really appreciated them doing something to make it better. Our chocolate extinction appeared a few minutes later.

t_extinction.jpg

It was great. I will admit I am not a fan of the whipped cream they use, but the ice cream and cake were both great. It was way too much for all 5 of us, so we boxed up the 2 extra pieces of cake for later.

It was a great meal. We were really impressed by how responsive the manager and waiter were when the issue with the food being sent to the wrong table came up. The food was all good and everyone left happy. We would definitely go back and in fact we did go back later in our trip. T-Rex definitely stay on our list of places to go next time we visit Disney World.

Goofy's Candy Store
January 12, 2016

We were on the dining plan for the first few days of our trip. Since we knew that we never really remembered to use the snacks we got we decided since we were nearby we'd head to everyone's favorite store, Goofy's candy shop. Once inside the older two minions and I decided to make our own treat. Minion 3 decided to get this awesome snowman marshmallow treat:

sully_olaf.jpg

Minion 1 decided to go with the gingerbread mickey cookie, he went with milk chocolate, m&ms and white chocolate drizzle. I will admit here that I only gave him 3 choices of toppings. Minion 1 has issues with being overwhelmed when given too many choices, so I cut them down for him to 3 I knew he would like. It meant he chose his options in 5 minutes rather then 20, so it was a win for everyone.
des_ginger.jpg

Minion 2 went with a gingerbread mickey as well. She went with white chocolate, oreos and a dark chocolate drizzle.
eloise_ginger.jpg

I went with the rice crispy treat. I got dark chocolate, dark and white chocolate chips and a white chocolate drizzle.
sarah_ricecrisp.jpg

Attriel decided to pass. While none of us ate our treats the first night, when we did eat them a few nights later, we all enjoyed them and found them delicious. The kids really liked the make your own options here and had lots of fun watching them be made.

Great lineup of restaurants! I'm just starting planning my 2017 trip and love getting more recent reviews to see how things are right now.

I am still wanting to get over there and try that cottontini! It looks so good. Glad you guys had a nice meal and kudos the manager for being on top of his game.

T-Rex is on our to-do list for sure. That cottontini looks :thumbsup2 Very nice of the manager to comp the dessert.

My first thought on reading your intro was "WHAT! You don't eat olives". But I've gotten over that (I love olives). You're right about the servings being enough to share at t-rex; we've never shared and therefore, never had room for dessert. I think I might have to do the sharing thing on my next visit. You have some great places on your list; looking forward to reading more!

Glad to help! We went very character heavy this trip since it was our first trip in 6 years and the minions were all at the perfect age for it. We also added some of husband and my top choices to get a decent mix of choices.

It was worth the trip, both time. The cottontini is awesome.

It was totally unexpected and left us with a lot of good will towards the restaurant. And the cottontini was awesome.

I know it is a travesty. If it makes you feel better minion 2 and 3 adore olives. We knew if we each got a meal we won't have room for any dessert so sharing was totally the way to go if you want the chocolate extinction.

Hi everyone :). I am going to work on editing some pictures today so I can post my next review later. It is a quiet Saturday here, which rarely happens. I still can't believe last Saturday I was still in Orlando, and now I'm home.

Looking forward to more of your reviews.

I noticed you did T Rex and Rainforest. Which of the two did you and your children prefer? I will be going with a 8 year old girl who has not done either, her first time going to Disney.

I put all of our Quick Service meals and snacks for the day in one post. This was an EPCOT day. Overall the food at both quick service options and the snack we got were all good and everyone was happy with our choices.

Breakfast from Port Royal CBR food court
January 13, 2016

So on our first park morning, Minion 1 woke up early, like he is wont to do. Attriel and minion 1 walked over to the food court to get some breakfast for everyone. Minion 2 desperately wanted Mickey Waffles, so that is what they ended up getting. They used 3 quick service credits to get 1 kids waffles, and 2 adults waffles with bacon on the side. They actually would have done 2 kid waffles and 1 adult if they had seen the kid ones before the adult ones. The adult waffle came with bacon and 1 large waffle and fruit topping, the kid waffle came with 2 small waffles, bacon, a side and a drink. They changed both adult drinks into sides.

Since attriel couldn't eat meat, he enjoyed about half of one of the adult waffles, 1 small kid waffle and bacon was more then enough for minion 2 and 3, and minion 1 maybe had a bite of the other adult waffle, I had about half of it. It ended up being almost too much food for us this morning. Everyone was happy enough with the food. It was decent and worth getting again. We never ended up with another morning when we did get it though, since we only had one other morning that we were staying here that breakfast wasn't already planned. If we had stayed longer we probably would have gotten the kids waffles again at least.

Lunch at Sunshine Seasons
January 13, 2016

After a busy morning at EPCOT everyone was hungry and Sunshine Seasons was close to we decided to go here for lunch rather then our other choice of Yorkshire Fish and Chips. We got 4 meals, A child's salmon with mashed potatoes and apple sauce for minion 3, we tried to talk him into the adult portion to share with attriel, but he was very 4 and wanted the kid's portion. The kid's peanut butter and jelly meal for minion 2, with jello and grapes, we tried talking her into something else, but it was what she wanted. An adult portion of salmon with green beans and an m&m cookie for minion 1 and attriel to share plus an extra side of mashed potatoes, and the Caesar salad without chicken with a carrot cake cupcake for me. We got 2 children's chocolate milks, an adult's chocolate milk and a rootbeer to drink. We would have been fine with just 2 kid's chocolate milks and the soda and getting a side for the adult one. I did notice that we didn't end up charged for the side of mashed potatoes, I think the cashier just missed it.

Overall the salmon was the winner here all 3 males enjoyed it as well as the mashed potatoes. Minion 1 said the green beans were good, but didn't want to eat them, he did get most of minion 2's grapes though. Minion 2 declared the peanutbutter and jelly sandwich thing was too peanutbuttery but ate about half of it. I didn't mind the Caesar salad, but it was very much overdressed with way too much dressing, I noticed that a lot of places at Disney drenched the Caesar salad with dressing, and there was no good way to get it without or on the side. The carrot cake cupcake was good and I would get it again and the kids enjoyed the m&m cookie.

We were happy with the meal and would have gone back, but the one night we tried we hadn't realized they closed at 7, so we missed eating here again. It was generally good food with decent sized portions. Everyone left happy and full.

A Beer and A Nutty Snack
January 13, 2016

While we were in Epcot we visited United Kingdom after lunch to do the Perry the Platypus game. Since we were there attriel decided to get a beer. He got the Harp in a souvenir mug from Yorkshire Fish and Chips.
harp.jpg

His overall take away from this was it was too light for him, he was not a huge fan. Attriel likes very dark beers though, so seeing that you can see his arm through this one, it isn't a huge surprise. We did like the mug though. I think it ended up going home with my Mom, but I am not sure.

Sometime later in the afternoon, after meeting Daisy and on our way to Test Track I noticed a small snack kiosk which had cinnamon glazed almonds. I used one of our snack credits and picked up a bag. These were awesome all the kids enjoyed them and they were a great sharing snack for us before our dinner later that evening. We got these at least once more, maybe twice during the trip from different parks. Everyone gave them a thumbs up.

joining in!

Welcome :).

Looking forward to more of your reviews.

I noticed you did T Rex and Rainforest. Which of the two did you and your children prefer? I will be going with a 8 year old girl who has not done either, her first time going to Disney.

Welcome. We liked both. I actually liked the food at Rainforest a bit more, but atmosphere wise all my kids enjoyed T-Rex more then Rainforest. You can't really go wrong with either one though.

Following along! Yum is all I have to say!

Goofys candy shop and Sunshine seasons are on my to try list!

Everything looks delish!

We do Goofy's a second time too. Would have done it a third time, but it is a lot of walking when you park all the way on the West Side.

Sunshine Seasons was definitely worthwhile and stays on our will do again list.

Your kids are adorable in their matching shirts!

Thanks. It makes it easier on me to point to one of them and say, the other ones look like this :). I think they coordinated or matched almost every day of the trip, especially the boys.

Loving your reviews, thank you :goodvibes

Thanks
