Ok, so we are taking DS (5 and a half) to WDW from January 25-Feb 5 (yay)

I had actually wanted to surprise DS with the trip as we are getting on the plane. But, he is a bit of a non risk taker, and it might throw him into a tizzy if he does not know about it before hand.

So, the idea now is that under the Christmas tree, there is going to be a box from Mickey Mouse. I have a DIS Con buddy who is going to get me a GOH badge for him, and a set of Mouse Ears. I also have an amazing DISer friend who when asked to pick me up a tshirt and some post cards, ended up sending me an entire GOODY BOX of stuff from WDW. (autograph book, pins, pin lanyard, wallet, luggage tags, toys, a watch, tshirt, hat, etc etc etc). To my pal--YOU TOTALLY ROCK, and I am still in awe of the good that you do.

I figure in the month between Christmas and when we leave I will send the postcards to Ian (DS) 'from' the character who is on them.

Any other ideas that you have hear of/done yourself??? I am not super creative, but I am having so much fun with this.

Surprising the kids with a trip is the MOST fun - we did it last March with our kids (DD 8, DS then 5).

If he hasn't figured it out by the time you get on the plane, I would hide some little "hints" your pockets, your purse, etc. Just little things that will hint to where you are going

Have a great time!!

Inside the box along with all the disney goodies we put in a stuffed mickey with their plane tickets pinned to his ears.

We are also surprising our DD for her 5th B-day with a trip to WDW. We will be there Jan26-Feb2nd!! She really has no idea. We are driving down and plan on not telling her till we get there. We know as soon as we drive on property, she'll know where she is. I just can't wait to see the look on her face. As little hints, I will take along disney music, movies, and coloring books and activities. I will wrap little "disney" themed presents for her and let her open them along the way when she gets wrestless in the car. Good luck with the surprise and have a great trip! Maybe we'll see you there!!

Pleeeeeaaaaassseee. I am very creatively impaired and need your input.

Any other ideas. DS is not quite reading yet, so anything written will have to be 'translated'

Hi travel buddy!!!

We're waiting until Christmas to tell the girls too. dd (8) reads really we'll give her a copy of WDW for kids (lots of pictures though so your little guy might like it) I found a Mickey at the Magic Kingdom golden book (used out of print I think) to give dd (4). HAs the characters riding the rides.

Do you have the WDW Explorerer CD ROM ? Paige loved playing that before we left when she was 4. She pointed out all the parts from the game when we saw them in the park.

Someone on the family board awhile back suggested making a paper chain to count down the days and on each link there was something special to do to get ready for the trip.

Someone else said they were doing a family disney movie night once a week until they left.

Oh, my girls LOVE the Disneyland sing along video!! It's enough like WDW to pass!!! :)

I'll keep thinking!

I second the motion for the Disneyland sing-along video.....we've had that since DS first trip when he was 2 and it's great.

I do wonder about the kids in that video.....they are probably teens by now.....or maybe even have kids of their own!

:D

Ooohh, I like the paper chain idea. Someone also suggested to me in a PM to do a combination board game/count down calendar type thing-y. I think the WDW for kids is a great idea too!

Keep em coming folks.
