A strange ParkHopper to DVC AP Upgrade question

Hello DVC AP ticket experts:

I have some unusual ticket media that I bid on and won in a charity auction last weekend. These are legitimate media as Disney World was the sponsor of this particular basket.

I am now the proud owner of 4 1-day Park Hopper passes. I know you cannot get 1 day Park Hoppers, but it says right on the back of the ticket, and on the auction description, that is what these are.

I would like to upgrade these to 4 DVC APs to be activated when we go to Disney World, which may not be until April 2015. SO my questions are as follows:

1. Do we need to "use" each ticket first and then upgrade them to DVC APs;

2. In the event that DVC runs a "special" again next year on the PAPs, would I be able to use the value of these unused tickets toward the PAPs;

3. In light of the above, how would I set up my FP+ 's anyway(if that is a different thread would someone kindly direct me?). :confused3

Thanks so much for the help! :flower3:

1) Need...no, but it never hurts, and it may save you more by bridging up to current gate value.

2). Yes, but only if you do the upgrade at a park. You would not be able to buy a voucher over the phone and apply that 1 day ticket.

3). I think you only get advance FP+ for days you have valid tickets

FYI I think park hopping is still an option on a 1 day ticket. Is your ticket for MK? If your ticket is some form of a comp ticket it is not upgradeable.

They may be promotional passes, provided for free by WDW. If so, they may not be upgradable.

To reiterate, if WDW provided the passes, they are most likely "complimentary" and not upgradeable.

Thank you all for your help. I have the passes, and this is what is printed on them:

"1 Day Park Hopper Comm Rel in Focus Comp" Also no expiration date is listed, but they appear to have been printed 2 months ago.

Does this mean anything to anyone? Thanks!:scratchin

Post your question on the Theme Parks Board or send a PM to Cheshire Figment. He has knowledge and experience as a ticketing/guest relations CM.
He will know.

Thanks for the advice. I will go to the Theme Parks Board. Unfortunately Cheshire Figment has not been active on the boards since January.:worried:

"Comp" sounds like non-upgradeable

You may want to use those to delay the start of an AP, 1 person using them for 4 days, a couples trip with 2 days each.

Unfortunately you will not know a straight answer until you bring the tickets to a guest relations.

That means they're complementary; Disney gave them away for "free." They cannot be upgraded.

they are special tickets and cannot be upgraded. We have some like this. I put them in a safe place (with passports is a good place) and use them when we need an extra on-off ticket. Our expire in 2029. Yours should be valid indefinitely.
