That picture is more true to life than you think ( and it IS hysterical ) when we first moved here the dogs had never seen Maxine ( she was boarded a few towns over when we lived in NY ) except Dillon Dillon used to go every where with me and was Maxine's buddy
Anyway, most of the dogs ignored her or just showed mild interest Gilbert ( the redbone coonhound ) though has a STRONG hunting instinct and the love of the chase Well we had only lived here a short while when Gilbert decided one day to get up close and personal and realized his mistake too late I had Maxine's drive through window open ( you've seen the pictures ) to give her a treat ..never gave it a second thought
He decided to jump out the kitchen window and landed directly at Maxine's feet in HER paddock I will never forget this as long as I live & looking back I can only liken it to the stories you hear of someone having so much adrenaline they can lift a car off someone I had to get that stupid dog before she hurt him or killed him
She's gentle I doubt she would do anything deliberately but we're talking 1400 lbs versus 50 lbs The beauty of having so many dogs is I always have a leash not far I yelled at them & they both froze I tore into the next room grabbed a leash hung out the window where I had to contain the laughter as here is this oh so macho stupid dog flattened up against the side of the trailer skirt like a cartoon Maxine standing over him and snorting
I lassoed that leash around the dogs neck and somehow pulled him up and over & into the window To this day he won't go near that window and has a healthy respect of Maxine's space when he is out on the deck & she is standing over the A/C Unit You can not make this stuff up
